Rome Travel Guide

Rome, a beautiful city that served as the capital of empires for years and whose streets smell of history… The capital of Italy, the cradle of Western civilization… Enjoying this place to the fullest before planning your Rome tour Remember that you need to reserve at least 3 or 4 nights for. There are many places to visit in Rome. The city is almost an open-air museum; Get ready to see statues, historical buildings, monuments every step of the way. Once you have your camera and your most comfortable sneakers with you, you are now ready to explore Rome…

When to Go to Rome?

As in other Italian cities The best months for travel to Rome are April, May, September, and October.. You can evaluate these periods when the number of tourists is low and the heat is not overwhelming.. However, the weather can turn off and rain in an instant.. Don’t take your umbrella with you anyway.

August is not at all suitable for going to Rome.. Because most Italians don’t work in August.. You may not be able to fully enjoy Rome, as the stores are also closed.. In winter, it can be preferred because the prices are more reasonable, but it is better to be careful against cold weather.

Transportation in Rome

Rome metro has a very wide transportation network like Milan. However, the subways are so crowded (especially commuting hours) that it may make much more sense to walk.. There are 3 lines, blue, green and red. The most popular must-sees are on the red line known as Line A. Get off at Spagna and walk to Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Fontana di Trevi. You can use the metro between 05.30-23.30 on Sunday-Thursday and between 05.30-00.30 on Friday-Saturday.

I am one of those who like to explore the city on foot.. That’s why I took the subway in Rome a number of times.. If you find your hotel close to the center of Rome, you may not need to use the metro much.. Unlike other cities, traffic is denser in Rome. That’s why I didn’t choose to take the bus.

There are different ticket options for transportation in Rome.. 7 euros for 24 hours, 12.5 euros for 48 hours, 18 euros for 72 hours, 24 euros for 7 days. Children under the age of 10 can benefit from free transportation.. Standard ticket price is 1.5 euro. With this ticket, you can use the metro only once in 100 minutes, and unlimited use of the buses for this period.

Another option for transportation in Rome is the Roma Pass. The price of the card with 72 hours validity is 38.5 euro. With this card, you can benefit from free transportation, and you also have free entrance to two museums.. If you prefer, use your museum right at the entrance to the Colosseum.. Thus, you will avoid waiting in line in the crowd in front of the apocalypse.. Those who have a Roma Pass enter through a different door.. It’s good to be reminded. Unfortunately, you cannot use the free museum right in the Vatican.. Since everywhere is within walking distance and I use the metro at most twice a day, I did not think of taking the Roma Pass.

Rome Attractions

Colosseum (Colosseum)

The Colosseum, which has been the scene of gladiator wars for years, is the symbol of Rome. There is a queue from the early hours of the morning to enter the Colosseum, one of the 7 wonders of the world.. The entrance price to the historical building opened at 8.30 is 16 Euro. With the ticket you buy here, you can also enter the Roman Forum right next to it, and have a pleasant walk among the historical ruins.

Fountain of Love (Fontana Di Trevi)

Would it be okay to come to Rome and not see this place? The Fountain of Love, also known as the Fountain of Love, is one of the most frequented spots by tourists.. The statue in the middle is Neptune, the far left is Ceres, and the right is Salus.. I passed here about 5-6 times during my trip and each time there was an incredible crowd.. You can enjoy the coolness with ice cream from the ice cream shop on the corner.. If you’re lucky enough to find a seat, of course!

Note: Did I throw money in the pool? Yes. Who knows, my path may cross with this city full of love once again!

Piazza Novana

My favorite square in Rome. Worth seeing with its Quatro Fiumi fountain and San’t Agnese in Agone church. On the one hand, street artists display their skills, on the other hand, those caught in the rhythm of the music embrace each other with words full of love.. You can have a sweet getaway by sitting in one of the restaurants in Piazza Novana, one of Italy’s romantic squares.

How To Reach?: It is 10 minutes’ walk from Fontana Di Trevi.

Spanish Steps

Meeting point of Roman youth! It is always crowded and chirpy… However, it is forbidden to eat, drink and behave inappropriately on the Spanish steps, which were opened for use after a long renovation work! It is useful to consider this in order not to be penalized by the patrol teams.. After spending time here, you can stop by Via Del Corso and Via Condotti streets for shopping.

How To Reach?: Red line by subway by getting off at the Spagna stop on the top of it.

The Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II

Here is the magnificent monument in Rome one of the monuments is another… Tourists competing with each other to take pictures in front of it show great interest here.. Free entry. After visiting the statues, you can climb to the top of the monument. 7 euros by elevator, 4 euros by stairs.

How to Reach?: In Piazza Venezia square.

Trastevere

Don’t leave Rome without exploring Trastevere, located on the opposite bank of the Tiber River. Sit in one of the coffee shops in the famous square Santa Maria’ and watch the passers-by, even that gives a great pleasure. You can have a pleasant dinner among the narrow streets.. If you are into old books like me, you can stop by the Porte Portese flea market, which is set up early on Sunday.. One of the most wonderful addresses to enjoy the view is here again.. Gianicolo peak One of the highest peaks of the city with 7 hills. Although it is a bit difficult to climb, I’m sure you will say it’s worth it when you see the view.

How to Reach?: You can find it after you cross the Ponte Sisto bridge.

Villa Borghese

How about resting your feet, body and soul that are tired of walking? The address of peace in Rome, surrounded by greenery, accompanied by the chirping of birds! Spend at least 2 hours here and relax on the grass and enjoy the serenity.. It was very good for me, and it’s free to try!

How to Reach?: After getting off at Spagna stop by metro, walk inside the wide area on the right.

Piazza Del Popolo

I started my tour on the second day from here. Start walking from the very wide square and pass to Via Del Corso. Discover different shopping stores here. Then, go to Fontana di Trevi and wander the side streets.

How to Reach?: You can get off at the Flaminio stop on the red line by metro.

Pantheon

While walking in the streets of Rome, you may suddenly come across huge structures. The Pantheon is one of them.. Enjoy the view by taking a breather on the stairs in front of the building, which is a temple from Ancient Rome.

How To Reach?: A two-minute walk from Piazza Novana square.

Vatican

I saved the best for last. You can read my article on the Vatican travel guide in detail.. Make sure to spare 1 day for the Vatican, where half a day is never enough.. The Vatican is one of the most beautiful places to soak up the sun in the evening, which is one of the places I am most impressed with.

How To Reach:? You can get off at Ottaviano or Cipro stops on the red line by metro.
