PLACES TO SEE IN PARIS II: FROM NOTRE DAME TO MARAIS AND POMPIDOU

If we came to the second day of our Paris trip and we left behind the main touristic spots such as the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elysées, and the Louvre on the first day, it means we continue the tour with a busy schedule.. We will start the second day of the Places to Visit in Paris series by having breakfast in the most nostalgic and old cafes of Saint Germain des Prés.. Then we will go to the Orsay Museum located around it and follow the route of the Luxembourg Garden, Notre Dame Cathedral and Le Marais.. If we can get away from the beautiful streets of Marais, Musee Picasso and Center Pompidou will be two very impressive spots for us.. Come on then, let’s keep it quiet!

#Saint Germain des Pres:

Saint Germain des Pres, one of the oldest and most historical areas of Paris, is a must-see with its famous cafes and restaurants, and its magnificent architecture. other district. I have described my favorite places here, Cafe de Flore and Les Deux Magots, in this article, I recommend you to read them and add one of them to your travel list.. No one can say no to starting a busy day with a good breakfast in a beautiful place!

#Orsay Museum:

Like Manet, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec Musée d’Orsay, where you can see the works of impressionist artists, is another favorite museum in the city.. You should take a long walk through the endless exhibition areas and give your due.. It hosts works as valuable as the Louvre; must be on your list for the most exclusive paintings of the impressionist movement. I explained the details here. If you wish, you can go to the Invalides region from Orsay and visit Rodin’s museum, which we know from the ‘The Thinker’ statue.. Nearly 300 works of the artist are exhibited here, and the architecture is truly magnificent.

#Luxembourg Garden:

We suffer from such a lack of parks and gardens in our beautiful country Cities with lots of green are always more valuable to us.. Here, one of them is Paris with its huge parks and gardens, and the lush green breathing areas in every corner of the city.. For those who have the time, Luxembourg Garden is the place to come after the Tuileries Garden. In this area, you can see the large garden of the Luxembourg Palace and the Luxembourg Museum.

Luxembourg Garden

After Florence’s leading family, the Medici, bought the Luxembourg Hotel in Paris and turned it into a Palace, its garden gained importance.. Aside from the fact that the garden resembles the examples in Florence and is home to the Medici Fountain, it is priceless to start a morning with a walk here.. The edge of the large pool overlooking the palace and the abundant green chairs, which are the symbol of the city, are ideal for taking a break and making new travel plans.. I do not know why; Every corner of this city is romantic.. It inspires people in everything imaginable.. It’s really hard not to think about how lucky those who live around the park, which is especially lively during the summer months, are really lucky.

The palace is now used as the French Senate, how wonderful ! The Luxembourg Museum, which you can reach by taking a tour around the garden, hosts temporary exhibitions.. Those who have a trip to Paris in the near future should definitely take a look at the program of the museum.. After all, one of the best things about Paris is its diverse exhibitions that you can come across anytime and anywhere, bringing you together with world artists.

Notre Dame Cathedral

#Notre Dame Cathedral:

We came to Notre Dame Cathedral, another symbol of the city. This is actually the first recommendation in Paris for those who like to get lost in architectural details.. The Notre Dame Cathedral, a unique example of the French Gothic style, is mostly built in 14. Although it was completed in the 19th century, it was damaged during the French Revolution.. It was only opened at the beginning of the century.. The main architecture also carries the Roman style other than the Gothic style.. The cathedral is home to the city’s archbishopric, while the front is the most photographed area.. However, the sides and back of the building actually have different beautiful details.. You can observe various styles, especially when examining the architecture from the outside, which gives the visitors a great sense of architectural saturation.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Many of us remember the Cathedral next to the Seine from the musical Notre Dame de Paris, with Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Quasimodo, which was sold out all over the world.. It would not be wrong to say that this sympathetic character from the cartoon Esmeralda, which coincided with my childhood years, and her love for Esmeralda are engraved on everyone’s minds, so it is not compulsory for anyone who goes to Paris to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, which is the place of the story, but it is in a position like obligatory.. Admission is free, while it is 10 Euros to climb the towers that greet you with all their splendor from the outside for the view.. You turn 360 degrees during your tower tour, it is an activity that should be added to the book of those who like to watch cities from above.. It’s always crowded, so it’s best to arrive early, if your schedule is convenient, you can choose morning hours.

Saint Michel

The Cite Island area where the cathedral is located is one of my favorite areas in Paris. The Saint Michel district, located in the Saint Louis region at the end of the island, is one of the must-visit places with its magnificent and colorful streets and peaceful cafes.. We went to Saint Michel and ended our cathedral tour at the Shakespeare & Co. bookstore where our favorite movies Before Sunset and Midnight in Paris were shot.. Our love for places with a story showed itself in Shakespeare & Co., I definitely recommend you to stop by.. You can also drink your tired coffee in the cafe section of the bookstore, I’m sure you will feel yourself in a French movie with brewed coffees and mini snacks.

#Le Marais:

The most ‘ Say hello to the hip’ district! Le Marais; The colorful and bohemian part of the city that those who leave love and begin to miss as soon as they return.. Marais, which was a swamp in the past (its name comes from here), today amazes the visitors with hundreds of boutiques, bookstores, cafes, design shops and coffee bars.. Not only in Istanbul, but also in many cities of the world, districts that were once overly popular, have preserved themselves and have not lost their unique texture have been on the rise for a while.. Marais has had its share of this, the moment you say ‘must see places’, everyone says this place.. When I first came to Paris 5 years ago, I had to skip this district because there was no time left for the museums.. I guess I wasn’t very forward thinking, I never wanted to leave on my last visit. Its streets are beautiful, its colorful windows and doors are different.. As one travels, he wants to run and hug every giant door that comes his way!

A patisserie in Marais

Marais is a gay and Jewish neighborhood in the city.. That’s why you can see many gay and Jewish people in this area, as well as gay-friendly cafes, bars, nightclubs, and gay-only shops.. I don’t know how logical it was to open this topic under the title, after all, ‘no one can interfere in everyone’s life’ but Marais is a place full of energy.. The vitality of the atmosphere seems to come from here.. When you come to Marais, you can take a break at the coffee bar known as the Cordonnerie with its iconic appearance, but actually called Boot.. It is probably one of the smallest cafes you will come across in the city.. Another suggestion is that I don’t know if it’s because I work in the retail development sector, but it will come with my sensitivity towards brands that are not in Turkey.. Be sure to visit the Uniqlo store located within the boundaries of the district. Brands and concepts that arrange products according to color tones are always my heart.

Marais

#Musee Picasso:

We say Paris, let’s talk a little bit about Picasso. Another place to add to your Marais route is the Picasso Museum.. Museum; It houses Picasso’s personal collection, which includes works by important artists such as Matisse, Cézanne and Degas, as well as the artist’s work.. The Picasso Museum, which hosts approximately 3,000 works, was reopened in 2014 after a long renovation process.. You can enter without waiting in line by purchasing your ticket online.. The detail article is here, and I’ll leave the ticket link here.

#Centre Pompidou:

Centre Pompidou right next to Marais; a huge complex that houses the city’s public library and Europe’s largest modern arts museum. Pompidou, which also hosts a section on music and acoustics; It includes works by modernist artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp and Jackson Pollock. For more details about Pompidou, the meeting point of modern and contemporary art in the city, you can teleport to Paris’ Top 10 Museums article.

Centre Pompidou

Turn 3. The day starts in Montmartre! You pass through the Sacre Couer Basilica to the Painters’ Hill, and from there you take your gifts and descend towards the Moulin Rouge.. If the whole day’s plan is completed on time, you can also go to Pere Lachaise, the uniquely beautiful cemetery of famous names.. The plan and details of this tour are waiting for you here!

The first day belongs to the Eiffel Tower and its surroundings, and the last day, of course, belongs to Disneyland.. First day notes here.
