White Beaches and Paradise on Earth: Mauritius

Mauritius In the heart of the Indian Ocean, it can be reached in 10 hours with a direct flight, it can take 18-19 hours on connecting flights, I did not know about its existence in advance, I could not find it if you wanted to show it on the map, with its white sandy beaches, with its clean sea with all shades of blue. became an island that fascinated us. Mark Twain has a famous quote about the candidate: “Mauritius was made first, and then heaven; and that heaven was copied after Mauritius.” Although it seems like a very assertive word, I am sure you will agree when you go there and live..

As I mentioned in my previous post Bali, Mauritius is one of the places we remember and this is our destination after Bali.. For those who are thinking how to pronounce Mauritius, let me tell you right away: It is pronounced as Morishis.. You can study in different places as Marichus(z) or Mauritius.. Pronunciation of a native native of Mauritius. If you want to swim in the deep blue waters on the white beaches, Mauritius can be one of the ideal locations for you.. Don’t just think of it as a honeymoon location. You can see many different cultures and swim in beautiful beaches.

As Mauritius is in GMT +4 in the International time zone, there is a 1 hour difference between Turkey and Mauritius.. French is spoken on the island as well as their local language, they are also quite good at English.. In terms of religion, the majority is Hindu, but there are also Christian and Muslim regions.. As you walk around the island, you will see mosques.

If you were to ask a question like what is Mauritius famous for, the answer would be the Dodo Bird.. Unfortunately, this bird generation has come to an end due to the desire of human beings to consume, and you can only see the Dodo bird on the island in magnets..

When to Go to Mauritius?

I think this is the most important question. Like Turkey, 4 seasons are not observed in Mauritius.. They are in monsoon climates; It has 2 seasons, rainy and dry.. In the dry season, April – August, we went at the end of June, we only came across the rain on our return day, namely July 6th. Since the weather is always hot, even if the rain suddenly comes down, it leaves its place to the sun in 30 minutes – 1 hour.

Flights to Mauritius

We bought our ticket about 8 months ago by looking at skyscanner.. Since the best offer is from Emirates, we chose the flight via Dubai – approximately 7 hours – up to 3,000TL per person roundtrip.. THY also offers direct flights here, but it is more expensive than connecting flights.. Since the Mauritius flight ticket is expensive, it is not a ticket to be bought immediately, but to follow up for a while and catch the campaigns can provide a serious price advantage.. Fortunately, the plane was empty on the way to Dubai.. Fatih whiskeys, I drank Bailey’s and slept on the 3-seat armchairs.. During Emirates’ drink service, you can ask for 2 or 3 small bottles, or you may have to wait a long time for the second one after the food service, tea/coffee service and garbage collection.. That’s why it’s best to buy 3 bottles of whiskey with ice in advance..

Do you remember Hamad International Airport, which I described in my Phuket article?. Dubai is a relatively old airport with few sleeping areas, shops and places to visit.. No quiet sleeping rooms anyway. There are long seats in the clearing. It is also in the hands of a kind of trap.. We wandered around for a few hours, just in case someone gets up and sits down.

Speaking of ready flight tickets, let’s also answer the question Mauritius requires a visa . You can enter the country without a visa by filling out the visa forms distributed on the plane.. Kind of like an immigration paper; You write where you will stay in the country, how many days you will stay, your passport information etc.. We extended our return ticket so that they would be sure that we would return at the door, so that there would be no problems.. We were exempt from visa for the last 30 days. Mauritius’ airport is called Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. It’s a tiny airport but the passport officers were pretty quick, our entry into the country was also easy. Do not think that I can buy from there for duty free, duty free prices were quite expensive in our opinion.. I hope you don’t drink from here, but take your cigarette and go..

What is the Currency of Mauritius?

The currency of Mauritius is the Mauritius Rupee. Abbreviated as MUR. With today’s rate (12.07.2018) you can think of it like 10 TL 70 MUR.

If you ask Mauritius is expensive, eating and drinking is not expensive, but activities such as catamarans, tours, island tours are expensive. I can say that. Is it worth the catamaran tour? Details are below..

Where to Stay in Mauritius?

If you say that I will rent a car in Mauritius and visit everywhere, I can say that the whole island is yours.. The roads are wide and the traffic is quite regular.. Car travel will not tire you. We even rented our car from Economy Car Rentals.. It cost 45 € per day, € was also more appropriate back then, of course.. Our car was Hyundai i10. I recommend you to rent an automatic car here as the traffic flows in reverse again.. Look, isn’t there a red Ferrari feel?

Mauritius has no dead places, all its beaches are more beautiful than the other.. However, if you say it would be nice to have both a holiday and a nightlife, the Grand Baie region would be the best alternative for you.. Bar, shop, mall, temple; There is everything here.

If you are one of those who come to the island to dive, the east of the island is the most suitable for you.. Most of the hotels here also have their own diving centers.

Since we were a bit hit with the hotel, we chose Constance Belle Mare Plage.. Our room had an ocean view.. Sleeping and waking up to the sound of the waves was so relaxing.. And lizards of course. There is no escape from them. We stayed for 6 nights for 990€.

Places to Visit in Mauritius

We spent our first day at the hotel, we both rested and enjoyed the beach. we enjoyed. Belle Mare is actually a public beach, but since the hotel is right behind it, it has also thrown its sun loungers here, and the staff are constantly wandering around.. I didn’t see any outsiders during our stay.. Constance Belle Mare Plage’s service on this subject was very good. More than 20 hotel attendants were cleaning the beach in the morning.. So they didn’t say, “But somehow, this is a public beach, the state cleans it.. Here you can see the proof that if everyone cleans in front of their door, the place will be clean.. At the same time, the hotel offers a fine service to clean the eyeglasses of its customers..

The first thing we did on our second day was to call a line to travel comfortably.. We set off from Belle Mare and turned our direction to Port Luis, the capital of the island.. We could only find one place selling lines along the way.. We bought our line from Orange, operated it from disposable lines, passport, and left.. Google Maps is a savior in unknown places, we say “Let’s go before we leave; Of course we will.” Calligraphy is indispensable for us because we could not do the thesis even in Istanbul..

If you are going to rent a car or a motorbike, you can easily visit the places listed below in 2 days.. I hope you enjoy the tour.

  • Port Luis: It is an area where you can walk and eat something, where there is a military on one side, a small shopping mall and cafes on the other.. If you have a car, you can leave it in the mall.. You pretend to enter the harbor. This is the capital of the country.

  • After Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden: Port Luis Our stop was this huge botanical garden, which embraces us with its fascinating and gigantic plants.. It was Rs 200 if I remember the entry wrong. 5kg inside. It is a place where you can visit with pleasure, with lotus leaves that can carry up to a height, giant tortoises, both big and old – very carefully taken care of – and ponds.. I say take your time here.
  • Mauritius Rum Factory: When you visit all over the island, you will see either sugar cane was growing or it was being collected. or is on fire. A continuous production dominates. Its rum is already famous.. Having come all this way, you can take a nice long tour of this factory.. Finally, you can taste their rums in different flavors.. The factory tour was 800 MUR.
  • Maheswarnath Mandir Temple: A Hindu temple located in the town of Triolet. When we went, the car of a family that bought a car was celebrated.. They were especially pleased that you followed your rituals, and they greeted us.

You can set the route for the second day as follows:

  • Chamarel Waterfall: The most beautiful and most visited waterfall in Mauritius. Of course it is located in a park.. You can’t go very close, but it’s easy to reach. And there is a lush flowing through a lush geography.. Even the sound of water relaxes you..
  • Seven Colored Earth in Chamarel: This place is located in the same park as the waterfall I mentioned above. Here you can see 7 different colors of the soil side by side or even inside each other.. You can login for 200 Rupees. This is a volcanic formation by the way.. I wanted to jump on this land, to roll among the colors. If you want to take it from its land, remember that you will receive a warning because the area is under protection.. There are souvenir shops up there.. You can get it from there. By the way, there are huge turtles in this park too.

  • Ganga Taleo Temple: Here The place in the Grand Bassin Lake (a crater lake at an altitude of 550 meters), considered sacred by the Indians, is one of the must-see places.. Before descending towards the temple, there were 2 huge statues, one of which was under construction when we went.. One of them was Shiva.. It is said to be the largest statue in the country.. Frankly, we haven’t come across a bigger one.. This temple is where Hindus flock to the island.. After entering the temple, we realized that they were ringing the bell as we passed the prayer area.. When we asked the security guard why, he said that the gods could be in meditation, so they informed about their future by pressing the bell before praying.. Don’t forget to take care not to wear short tops and bottoms while coming to the temple, and to take your shoes off when entering the prayer area.
  • Trou Aux Cerfs – Volcanic Mountain: Mauritius’ This is the mountain that is active from 23 volcanoes in . You climb to the top of the volcano to see this oval shape.. Don’t think of it like mountain-hill-slope climbing, it has a straight path. There was a lot of wind when we went.
  • Flic and Flac: It’s like a small town in Mauritius. A little more touristy, but the coastline is very beautiful. Again, a white, clean, soft beach and wonderful; a clear sea. My suggestion is to swim here for at least 1-2 hours.

We spent 2 days walking outside.. I can say that we traveled comfortably as there was not much traffic.. 3. On the other hand, we joined the catamaran tour that we arranged from the hotel.. This came to €100 per person. We were picked up in front of the hotel in the morning and arrived at the port where the tour will depart.. The catamaran was standing in the open. We went to the catamaran with a small boat.. The tour included going to Ile aux Cerfs island, seeing the waterfall there, unlimited drinks and lunch, snorkeling. I would say quite enough. Do you see our comfort? Sometimes they went with the motor, sometimes they opened the sail. We have never spoiled our enjoyment.. We have our Phoenixs; Mauritius‘s local beer..

First of all, here is the waterfall. When you approach Ile aux Cerfs – I read that it is also called Deer Island. – you get on the boats that go around the waterfall and make a kind of ring to the waterfall on the catamarans and approach the waterfall. Catamarans cannot approach because that area is rocky and shallow.

After the waterfall, we stopped and snorkeled on the way to the island.. Everyone used their own snorkel.. There was no option to rent.. We swam with colorful fish in a not very deep area, but unfortunately we couldn’t shoot here because we didn’t take the GoPro.. Lunch followed by arrival at the island of Ile aux Cerfs. We stayed for about 1.5 hours on this island with its white beaches and shallow waters in all shades of blue.. There is not much to do around because no one lives, you can walk and sit in their cafe, look at the souvenir shops, swim and walk on the beach.. We preferred to walk and swim on the beach.

In the next days, we should eat – drink, sleep on the beach – maybe snore – swim a lot before leaving the hotel, sunbathed. there was no moisture in the air. It was quite comfortable from Phuket and Bali, but I thought my leg was cooking on the grill for a while while I was sunbathing. That’s how the sun was burning.

I wanted to end this beautiful article with a few photos from our vacation.. Mauritius, don’t let this beauty ever deteriorate.. It’s hard not to give credit to Mark Twain.
