Recently, we set out to explore the Heritage Road project, which started from Uçmakdere and continued to Şarköy.. For this, we borrowed the New Amarok V6 3-liter diesel automatic vehicle from Volkswagen.. We traveled about 450 km that day with Volkswagen Amarok.. If the approximately 50 km distance I have done with the vehicle in the other 2 days is calculated, I will share with you my impressions of the vehicle that I covered about 500 km in 3 days.
What I Tested?

Volkswagen Amarok V6 3 Liter Diesel Automatic Fuel Consumption
80 liters of fuel and 13 The fuel consumption of the Amarok, which has a liter Ad Blue tank, is actually quite good.. With this 2 ton monster, I watched the 8-9 liter band during the test drive.. Although I accelerated on the way back, we could not exceed the average of 10 liters.
What Does Volkswagen Amarok Mean?
Volkswagen brand is a brand in Turkey. One of the brands that have the most problems in writing. So much so that in Google searches, “vw” is often searched in order to write properly.. Sometimes even it is misspelled and there are those who write “wv”. Do you think those who write Volkswagen or Volkswagen or Volkswagen?. Although it is difficult for us Turks to say how much the brand’s own name is, the model names are just as easy.
Amarok is also one of the model names that is easily remembered and immediately adopted.. So what does this Amarok mean? Where does it get its name? This car, which Volkswagen entered the pickup market in 2010, takes its name from Eskimo mythologies.. Amarok means wolf in Eskimo mythology.
My Volkswagen Amarok Driving Impressions
I bought the car at noon on Monday and delivered it on Wednesday morning.. Honestly, I mostly used it during the Heritage Trail route on Tuesday.. I traveled about 500 km in 3 days in total.. We did not have the opportunity to test the vehicle in off-road conditions.. However, during the Heritage Road route, we also passed through quite bad roads.. Frankly, during the trip, we said that we are glad that we set out on this road with Amarok.. However, these road conditions were conditions that would not be difficult for any pick-up or SUV.
- First of all, it has a very strong engine.. You know, you can easily overtake a vehicle with a 2-ton vehicle.. It flows like oil, so to speak, and accelerates in an instant.
- The day we set off was indeed a day when the wind was quite strong.. However, it does not take the wind noise into the vehicle at all.. In this respect, the sound insulation of the vehicle is quite good.
- There have been serious changes in the interior of the car compared to the previous model.. More like a passenger car than a pick up. It was very close, although not exactly.
- Thanks to the rear camera, your job of parking this huge vehicle becomes much easier.. It is not easy to park a vehicle of this size in tight spaces without this camera.. On the contrary, by making a selector, you get the way.
- While the brake discs in the front were enlarged in the renewed Amarok, discs began to be used in the rear instead of the campaign.. Thus, a braking mechanism was provided to restrain this powerful engine.
- In my opinion, Amarok stands out as the car with the most handsome design in its segment
- Overboast technology: Especially 3 and 4. When you root the gas in gears, the engine gives an extra 40 horsepower for a short time
- Continuous 4×4 system: In abruptly changing ground conditions, it quickly transfers the power from the wheel that takes less grip to the wheel with higher grip. makes driving safe.
- 8-Speed ZF Transmission: Frankly, the 8-speed automatic ZF transmission used by brands such as BMW and Bentley, instead of the famous DSG automatic transmission used in most Volkswagens, is also in this car.
What I Didn’t Like?
- Although the vehicle does not let wind noise in, it does let road and engine noise in at high speed.
- Although it has a very serious back case, there is no luggage area to put your personal bags etc.. You have to cover the chassis for this.
- Tax: Since 4×4 pick ups are classified as off-road vehicles rather than commercial vehicles, their annual MTV is calculated based on engine capacity.. That’s why 3 liter Amarok owners will pay 5997 TL per year.. If it was classified as a commercial vehicle, it would be 1350 TL. Of course, these figures were revised again in 2017.. Now, the tax of the vehicle is 6019 TL.
How is the 3 Liter V6 Diesel Engine?
How is the Amarok ever? While 2 liter engines are preferred up to now, this 3 liter V6 diesel engine is also among the options.. The first 3-liter diesel engine in this segment is also used in many different cars in the Volkswagen family.. Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne are the first ones that come to mind. Of course, this engine undergoes various adjustment changes during transitions between vehicles.. Slight loss of power when transitioning from Touareg to Amarok. However, the 3-liter V6 diesel engine produces 224 horsepower and provides 550 Nm of torque.
