When it comes to Turks in Europe; Its name is associated with cities such as Berlin, Brussels, Paris, and Zurich.. There is a considerable Turkish population in Vienna, which was called BeƧ in the Ottoman Empire.. Its close location with neighboring capitals Bratislava, Budapest and Prague provides a serious advantage for those visiting the region. Feeling it in our bones, we throw ourselves into the streets of Vienna.
I find it very strange what our academic guide, an Austrian citizen of Turkish origin who has lived in Vienna for many years, tells.
<
There Are No Toilets in Houses
Austrian people who do not have toilets in their homes have toilets in their homes, thanks to Turks who have migrated to Austria heavily since the 70s.. The Turks, whom the Europeans sneered at, in other words, brought civilization to this geography.. Nearly 80% of the houses in the city center are rented on the basis of social housing under the ownership of the municipality.. While there were no toilets added later in these structures, the Austrians used common toilets.. When the Turks started to rent the houses, they were surprised to see that there were no toilets and started to add toilets to the houses they lived in with their own efforts.. Seeing this, the Austrians adopted the same habit over time.. In Vienna, which is one of the most important capitals of Europe and known for concepts such as art and opera, houses are rented with or without toilets.. Naturally, the prices of houses with toilets are higher than those without toilets.
250 thousand of 2 million are Turkish
200 thousand in Vienna, one of the crowded capitals of the region, with a population of 2 million. 250 thousand Turks now live with Austrian citizenship. Austria, where the fear of the Ottomans has not disappeared, is one of the countries that strongly oppose the membership of the Turks to the European Union.. At the same time, the number of people who state that they think Turks should return to their lands is quite high on average compared to other countries.
They Don’t Like Turks
After establishing a very nice dialogue with the elderly Austrian couple, whom we asked to describe their address on the street, we complimented each other, offered our thanks and were on our way, and I will never forget the change on their faces with the “from Turkey” answer to the question of where we are from.. Saying that the Austrians hate the Turks may sound harsh, but it is not difficult to understand that they do not like us or dislike the Turks they commonly know.
Oil Producing Country Austria
Country It is at the top of the list of oil producing and exporting countries.. Although I am a verbal student and I trust my knowledge about countries, even if it is not fundamental, I learned the relationship between Austria and oil thanks to this trip.. There are also copper, iron, magnesium, zinc and graphite resources in Europe’s fourth largest oil and gas producing country.. It is also known as the country with the most forest assets in Europe.
I can’t wait to get to know the country and the capital better by going down to the streets with some of the information I know about Austria and Vienna, and some of the information I just learned.
