Uruguay Travel Notes

I am in Uruguay, which was treated as a stepchild by me because it was near the end of the trip (:

Note: If you haven’t read it, I suggest you check it out first.. It can be useful for you to see my 60-day itinerary, the items I took with me, and the total cost of the trip.

Colonia
I’m passing by Ferry from Buenos Aires. The road takes about 1.5 hours, the ticket price is 85 TL.

Before coming here, they said maybe you wouldn’t like it, but I thought I’d pass here on the way to Montevideo.. And unfortunately, as they say, I did not like this place very much.. So it’s not a place to go alone.. Either bring your lover and come, or if you need a rest, come.. Other than that, I don’t recommend it.

The ferry terminal goes right up to the city center. It’s a small place, you can walk almost anywhere.. First I find a hostel. In a room for 8 people, the nightly bed fee, including breakfast, is 30 TL. There are so many cute old houses. Calm, quiet nature as well as a beautiful place to relax. But I don’t need to rest my head (:

I spend 2 hours visiting the beach and touristic places.. Then we go to the collesium, which is a little far from the center, with two Dutch twin boys I met from the hostel.. Normally you can go here by city bus, but we preferred walking.. The round trip takes 4 hours in total.. Rest and rest, it’s a beautiful road. Although, when I said collesium, something like Rome came to my mind, but it has nothing to do with it.. An empty place. You can see the details in the video below.

I wish I had not stayed here and continued directly to Montevideo, but I wished I had stayed here for one night and continued to Montevideo the next day. I did. After breakfast, I go to the terminal.. Bus ticket to Montevideo is 30 TL and it takes 3 hours.

Montevideo
I got to the terminal at noon. The hostel I have arranged is in the center and it will be a little difficult to go on foot.. But since I can’t spend much time in the country, I decided to go sightseeing on foot.. I came to the hostel in the center in 45 minutes, taking a break every 15 minutes.. Don’t ask why you took a break for the 45-minute journey, it’s not very comfortable to walk with your bag (:

A bed for 8 people in the hostel, including breakfast, costs 30 TL per night.. I left the bag and immediately came back to the reception.. I said, I have only 2 days, where should I go, what are your recommendations? After getting the answers, I took a map and went outside.. I visited the sights. Of course, it was not a very comfortable trip because time was running out.. But what should we do, we have seen this place for at least 1.5 days.

Before we come I was expecting Uruguay to be more fun, lively or, I don’t know, a different place.. First of all, the prices are quite expensive for us.. Even a normal mc donalds menu is around 20-25 TL. This is your shopping pattern.. I don’t understand why the country is so expensive. So if you look at it as a development, there is no such thing.. Anyway, I finished the day by touring the major streets, a few buildings and the park.. In the evening, we went out with the Dutch twins I met in Colonia.. But since it coincided with a Tuesday during the week, we couldn’t find much of an attraction.

We hung out at the hostel and had dinner.. I got up in the morning and walked around the city again. In the afternoon, I set out to return to Argentina.

I know that 3 days will not be enough to comment on the country, but for some reason I did not like it very much.. So instead of coming here, I’d better go to Brazil or Argentina. But just in case I come to this area again, there is a place called hippie village. I couldn’t get there due to lack of time.. The village does not have anything technological.. First of all, there is no electricity in the village.. Everyone hangs out and it’s said to be a very relaxing place.. I’m leaving Uruguay with this place in mind.

If you go to Buenos Aires by direct ferry, only one company goes and the price is quite high.. I also buy tickets on the cheap Colonia Express. First, it goes to Colonia by bus and then goes to Buenos Aires by ferry.. So you have a loss of time for 3-4 hours, but the price is half and half cheaper.. The road takes 7-8 hours, the ticket price is 85 TL.

The Way Back
My 2-month trip ends today. Since my return flight is from Buenos Aires with Qatar Airways, I will first go to Buenos Aires from Uruguay and then to Istanbul via Qatar.. Of course, writing is easy, but my return journey from Uruguay will take a long time.. Thinking about the memories of the trip, I think the road will be over.

On the way back, Qatar Airways is giving me a surprise.. They upgraded my economy ticket to business class for free on the flight from Qatar to Istanbul.. It wouldn’t be a lie if I said all my tiredness is gone 🙂
