TRAINING IN ULAMIŞ VILLAGE AND SUGGESTIONS FOR FOOD AND BEVERAGES
Ulamis, one of the villages of Izmir, told Bademler and Turgut what I saw on this trip. larger and more organized settlement. The historical hamam in Ulamış also proves that this place is bigger not only today but also in the past compared to the surrounding villages.
If you have the chance to start this tour early in the morning, the priority is Flower Courtyard Have a village breakfast in. After breakfast, you can take a short stroll in the streets of Ulamış; because here, colorful murals decorate the white village houses.. There are also village cafes among the indispensables of our village tours; Our address in Ulamış is Çınaraltı Cafe in the village square.
Another suggestion in Ulamış; Handre Coffee. The story of Brazilian Vandre Lois de Souza begins when he came to our country to return to the natural life after getting tired of the metropolitan life in Sao Paulo and settled in Ulamış in İzmir.. Then, he opens Hande Coffee, where he serves the practical tastes and coffees of his own country, in Ulamış.. We would love to try it too, but unfortunately it was closed because we went on a Sunday.. Keep in mind with Handre Coffee Brazilian dishes and coffees.
ULAMIS VILLAGE MANUFACTURER’S MARKET
If you are visiting the villages of Seferihisar, producer markets should definitely be on your list.. If you ask what is a producer’s market, we learned this concept with Sığacık, another village of Seferihisar.. Producer markets, where the local producers are supported, where fruit, vegetables and dairy products produced in the village, meals and pastries cooked at home are sold, is one of the best projects of Seferihisar in our opinion.. If your trip coincides with today, you can shop for fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and bread here.. Of course, don’t expect a big market area as in Sığacık.. A few models have arrived.
By the way, let’s leave our travel article about Sığacık here: Places To Visit In Sığacık: 10 Reasons To Visit Sığacık
Ulamış Karakılçık Wheat and Armola Cheese
strong>
As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, the village of Ulamış is famous for its Karakılçık bread baked in a stone oven.. Karakılçık is the name of the wheat from which bread is made, and Karakılçık wheat is our ancestor wheat.. Thanks to this wheat, which was found as a seed in a house in Gödence village of Seferihisar in 2011, these nostalgic breads are now made in Ulamış and Turgut with the support of Seferihisar Municipality and sold in bakeries and in the producer’s market.. The municipality is responsible for the production and harvest of Karakılçık wheat, and the villagers are responsible for the production of bread.. Karakılçık bread is one of the most special flavors not only of Seferihisar but also of İzmir.
Another outstanding flavor of Ulamış is the local Armola cheese.. Armola is actually a dairy product produced by re-mixing the leftover cheese residues from making Tulum cheese with milk.. You may have come across Armola cheese in places that serve local Aegean breakfast; it’s a bit like yoghurt and a bit like a cream cheese curd cheese. It can be spread on bread or eaten, especially with spicy olive oil and tomatoes.
ABOUT ULAMIŞ ATA BREAD AND ARMOLA FESTIVAL
Ulamış even has a traditional festival dedicated to Karakılçık wheat and Armola cheese! Ata Bread and Armola Festival took place for the third time this year on August 3 and will continue every year.. During the festival, Karakılçık bread and Armola cheese, which are the livelihoods of many families in Ulamış, are promoted, various activities and production workshops are held, and local games are played.
