In this pandemic process, in which we have imprisoned ourselves in Turkey due to the known coronavirus, we have all been chasing new places in our country that we have not yet discovered.. We dreamed of escaping to nature, quiet and calm places, clean beaches, deep blue seas, through the four walls that we were closed for a long time with the curfews.. Since Antalya and Bodrum are familiar places for most of us, we have been looking for a different alternative.. Our choice was Datça this summer and we had an incredible holiday.. After a long break, we went back to the keyboard to share with you the places to visit in Datça and our own experiences.. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.. Let’s get started..
Transportation to Datça Peninsula:
First of all, transportation to Datça is not as easy as other holiday resorts. So pay attention to this thread. First of all, one of the two closest airports here is Milas-Bodrum and the other is Dalaman Airport.. You need to take a ferry from Bodrum to Datça peninsula.. You can find the ferry schedules here.. The ferry is a bit expensive actually.. One-way car fee is 200 TL and for passengers in the vehicle, an additional 35 TL ticket is issued.. You can click here for current price information..
However, we recommend that you pay special attention to agile bends and narrow lanes while driving in Datça.. You will feel hypnotized while walking through a perfect landscape, so you should try to concentrate on the road with great care.
Where to Stay in Datça?
- Emecik:
If you are coming to Datça from a long way, your first stop for accommodation can be Emecik. There are very nice resorts and hotels in Emecik, which is located at the entrance of the peninsula after turning in the direction of Datça from Marmaris.. Our recommendations are Palm Bay Hotel, Datça Doris Hotel and Perili Bay Resort Hotel, both for its proximity to the road and for cooling off in the legendary sea of Karaincir beach.. We stayed in Perili Bay for 2 nights and we highly recommend it.. The hotel works with an all-inclusive concept, it has its own beach and a very different design.. We didn’t know whether we would like it or not as we had never had an all-inclusive stay before, but this was an experience where all our worries were in vain.. One of the places where you can say you would go again. By the way, all-inclusive daily entrance is available for those who will not stay.. You still benefit from all the facilities, but you have to check out in the evening.. In September 2020, daily entry was a very reasonable price of 150TL.. You should evaluate it..
- Datça Center:
If you don’t mind the crowds, you can find the center for a more affordable accommodation in Datça peninsula compared to other regions. You can choose hotels located in. There are many accommodation alternatives in the center.. In Old Datça, you can choose the one that suits your budget and taste, from more expensive and luxurious boutique hotels to 5-10 room apartments as you get closer to the center.. We stayed one night at The Green Goose Hotel in Datça Center.. We can recommend the hotel in general. It was a clean hotel and within walking distance of the center.. Staff helpful and smiling. But the rooms are very very small. 1 person is not a problem, but it is ideal for two people just to sleep, other than that it can be a bit difficult to spend time in the room.
- Mesudiye:
<
If you want to stay within walking distance to the sea, you can also choose the Mesudiye region due to its proximity to beaches such as Hayıtbükü, Ovabükü, Kızılbük, Gabaklar and Kurubük.. There are many alternatives here, from luxury boutique hotels to hostels.. Karia Apart, Savana Boutique hotels are slightly more expensive options, but if you prefer bungalows and pensions, you should consider Ovabükü and Gabaklar.
- Yaka Village:
The Yaka region, which is close to Palamutbuku and Aquarium Beach and the shortest distance to the ancient city of Knidos, has been our preferred place for accommodation.. We stayed 2 nights at the Şato Triopia Boutique Hotel in Yaka and we enjoyed it immensely.. We can say that the architecture and location of the hotel were close to perfection.. In terms of price performance, it is definitely one of the most ideal places to stay in this region.. The owners of Şato Triopia are a really friendly family.. The food is delicious and the portions are huge.. You can reach Palamutbuku from the hotel in 3 minutes by car.. What more
- Yazıköy:
Now you have come to the end of Datça Peninsula. No further from here guys. If you still haven’t found a place to stay, our last recommendation here is Karia Hotel Palamutbükü.. This is a very convenient and comfortable accommodation alternative.. If you are looking for silence and peace, we recommend you to consider it.
What to Eat in Datça
Sure octopus, shrimp, squid and fish
Sea food is the first choice in summer in every seaside resort, and the situation is the same here.. Of course, it is possible to come across different types of presentation and cooking besides the classical style..
We recommend to those who want to sit in a restaurant by the sea and try something different:
Stuffed Calamari at Palamutbuku Regular Restaurant..
Appetizers at Kumluk Restaurant, located on the beach in Datça Center,
Stuffed Zucchini flowers at Poyraz Restaurant, located in Ovabükü
Shrimp Pan at Gabaklar Restaurant..
Also, a nice dinner with wine at Datça Vineyard can be a different alternative..
By the way, it would be a shame if you return from Datça without buying almonds, soda, olive oil and thyme.
Datça Where to Swim in the Sea?
Each of the bays and bends on the Datça peninsula is more beautiful than the other.. It is not possible to find a luxury beach club by the sea here.. You can swim either in the coves where there are no people or on the beaches belonging to the enterprises located in front of the pensions and cafes / restaurants, even there you are not expected to pay the umbrella-sun lounger fee on the beaches.. You can enjoy the legendary sea and calm beaches by paying only for what you eat and drink throughout the day.
Beach recommendations with a facility in Datça:
The first place that comes to mind is of course Palamutbuku. However, Palamutbuku is more crowded and more explored compared to other benches.. So if you want to swim in a more untouched place, you can choose Ovabükü.. Ovabuku beach is actually wider and more spacious than Palamutbuku.. There are also restaurants lined up along the beach.. Prices are quite reasonable and the food is delicious.. The beach is both sandy and stony, so it is ideal for families with children..
There is Haıtbükü just ahead of Ovabükü. However, the beach here is very narrow and short, so it may not be very enjoyable especially in the season due to the crowd.. Instead, we recommend Gabaklar cove a little further on.. Gabaklar has two or three facilities with wooden houses and bungalows and a restaurant.. Again, it has an ideal beach for children, there is even an inflatable pier 🙂
Kargı Bay is the closest cove to swim in for those who will stay in Datça centre.. We did not go here, but we know that the sea is as beautiful as the other bends we have mentioned.
Recommendations for a deserted cove to swim in Datça:
If there is no facility, I If you want to swim in a deserted bay with your own chair and nevalem, the bays we will recommend are; Kurubük, Gerence aka Aquarium Beach Palamutbuku, Bağlarözü Beach on the way to Knidos. By the way, there are many more untouched coves in Datça that you can reach on foot by leaving your vehicle at one point.. For example Pig Buku and Pink Pebble Bay. In addition, Gıynap Harbor, which is 3 km behind before coming to Knidos, and Balık Aşıran , located in Emecik before coming to Datça, are among the other places we recommend.. Of course, these coves are only those that have been discovered before and are named on the map.. Be sure, there are dozens of coves that have not been mapped yet in Datça..
Natural Park and Tent Camp Recommendations in Datça:
Çubucak Nature Park, Aktur Tent and Caravan Camp and İnbükü Promenade are the places we would recommend for those who prefer tents. ..
We recommend D-Maris Bay for those who prefer ultra luxury accommodation in Datça, and Club Amazon Bördübet and Golden Key Bördübet for those who want to have a different experience with their own bay and accommodation alternatives..
One of the must-do things in Datça is to watch the sunset in the Ancient City of Knidos.. You will be enchanted.. If you are a bit interested in history and mythology, Knidos will fascinate you anyway, but sitting here and witnessing the sunset will be an incredibly romantic and impressive activity for you.. We wouldn’t be able to finish this article without recommending it
We wish you a nice and discovery-filled holiday in advance, sir..
