Terelek Rock Rock Tomb Surprise

Stable Terelek Rock Tomb is located in Kemerbahçe village of Durağan district of Sinop.. Terelek Rock Tomb is 15 km from Durağan. 30km from Sinop. This Rock Tomb was not a trip planned for us. We were going to Şahinkaya Canyon. When we saw the Terekek Rock Tomb sign after Boyabat, we decided to go and see it.. Turns out we were in such an important place and the Terelek Rock Tomb was just one of them.. Actually there are three. Apart from the Stable Terelek Rock Tomb, there are also Stable Ambarkaya Rock Tombs and Boyabat Salar Rock Tomb .

How did we get to the Terelek Rock Tomb?

We don’t know at that moment that the Terelek Rock Tomb sign that we saw after leaving Boyabat was so important.. Our target is Şahinkaya Canyon. When we see the sign, we say “let’s go and see”. We turn right from the village road and go towards the mountains for a while, and then the road splits into two.. No signage. We think we should turn left and it is good that we turn left.

We climb for a while watching the dam view and we come across Terelek Kayası Rock Tomb. There are no people. Not under any protection. So you don’t pay any fees.. It just stands at the top of the mountain. You can come to Terelek Rock Tomb by your own car, or you can come here by village minibus from Durağan. Since I haven’t seen it and tried it myself, I’m surprised at the possibility of it being filled to such a place.

Actually, there were three historical tombs.. Apart from the Stable Terelek Rock Tomb that we went to, there are also Stable Ambarkaya Rock Tombs and Boyabat Salar Rock Tomb . Made in the 7th century BC. There were no relief pictures in the other two rock tombs.. This one has a relief of a woman at the top and a figure of a man fighting a lion.. There was a lion statue at the feet of the columns, but it was destroyed.

How is the Inside of the Rock Tomb?

Since the rock tomb here was built much later, we could see these relief pictures. absent in others. The Rock Tomb is located quite high. It’s not easy to walk to the front either.. It’s pretty steep, you slip while walking on the stony ground. When we come to the front, we see a rope extending from the Static Terelek Rock Tomb.. Metehan can climb and exit easily. I’m trying, but it seems impossible with the sandals on my feet.

You have to pull yourself up with that rope with your arm strength. Metehan, who went up, says that the Durağan Terelek Rock Tomb is empty. There was a burial chamber inside. I didn’t think of anything different anyway, but I would still like to see it, to be able to go up.. Three columns taper wide from the bottom upwards. I have read information that it is made this way to be robust.

Rock Grave has dam lake view. The view is magnificent both in the direction it looks and behind the rock.. We sit and take a breather in front of this view.. With more ample times this could be a great place to spend the whole day.. You can have a picnic under the tree on the plain behind the rock tomb.. Who knows who wandered here. Who knows what happened.

Our country is so rich in history that it is not so important.. Who knows what will come out if these places are excavated, but when I think about what happened to the historical artifacts that have come to light in the last period, I am glad that they are preserved and hidden under the ground.. Let it be kept secret. I hope future generations will appreciate and value more than us and show the necessary importance.. I want to believe this with my heart.
