Nice Transport Guide

I thought it would be helpful to create a detailed transport guide about Nice as it is the largest of the cities usually visited during the Cote d’Azur trip.. Since there is an airport in the city, those who will leave from Turkey can choose Nice as the starting point of their trip.. For places to see in Nice, you can review my article NICE TO VISIT.

Transportation by Plane

Turkish Airlines and Pegasus have direct flights to the airport named Nice Cote d’Azur Airport (NCE). Direct flight from Istanbul takes up to 3 hours.. Many airline companies in Europe also have direct flights from different cities to this airport, I have included the map below.. You can check the details on skyscanner by typing in the country or city that suits you.

There are many different options to fly to Nice from within Europe. .

Airport Transportation

One way ticket costs 6 Euros After a little over an hour’s journey with the 98 or 99 buses, you reach the city. Tickets can be purchased inside the bus or from machines at stations. There is a logic to ‘validate’ the ticket after buying it, that is, to put it into the machine and to print the stamp indicating that you have used that ticket.. Therefore, do not forget to have your ticket read so that the ticket you bought will be considered valid and not be penalized in possible ticket controls (also valid for urban transportation).

05:20 – 23:50 hours Bus number 98, which departs every 20 minutes, to the Promenade des Arts stop in the center; Bus number 99, which departs every 30 minutes between 08:00 and 21:00, goes to the train station named Gare de Ville.. To see which one is closest to your destination, here are the stops and detailed information: 98 buses and 99 buses

In general, if a city has a discount card, airport transportation is excluded, but for Nice it is included they have done. If you buy the French Riviera Pass, transportation to other cities in the Cote d’Azur region along with Nice and the entrance to some touristic places are free.. The card, which has three different types of 24-48-72 hours, seemed expensive to me as it started at 30 Euros, but if it fits your schedule, you can ask the tourist info box at the airport what it covers and get it if it makes sense for you.. They also gave some information here.

Bus can be used to go to the beautiful gardens of Cimiez.

Hiring a Car

If you are going to several places at once, renting a car is a popular method, even Cote d’Azur There are many who think that it is the best transportation option for their trip.. There is no problem for France, but if you are going to the Italian side, I do not recommend the car; because highway tolls are too expensive. While the toll pass in France was 2-3 Euros, I paid 10-12 Euros in Italy several times and I was very disgusted with the car It is true that the car provides convenience for those who think that money is not important or for those who will only drive in France; You choose the appropriate one from many companies such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar. They have given detailed information on Nice Airport’s website, here.

Transportation by Train

If you have come to Nice by train from elsewhere in Europe, or if you want to explore Nice by train, you will arrive at the train station named Gare de Nice-Ville. I told you that you can go from the airport to the train station by bus number 99.

The name of the train company in France is SNCF, and high speed trains are TGV strong> (written on trains). Every year, between 1 July and 30 September, ZOU! Pass (formerly Isabelle Pass) goes on sale, priced at 15 Euros. Find out the ticket prices and get the total by typing the places you want to go on the same day from here, if it’s cheaper, Zou! You can get the pass at the train station.. Zou! Pass can be advantageous.

Train can be preferred to go to the surrounding provinces.

Reaching by Bus

Both for going to the surrounding places and for city transportation in Nice Lignes d’Azur buses can be used. Single ticket 1.5 Euro, daily ticket 5 Euro and weekly ticket 15 Euro. These tickets can be bought from the driver while boarding the bus.. If you are going to use it a lot, there are 10 tickets for 10 Euros, this ticket is not given by the drivers, it can be bought from the ticket machines.. With the same ticket, you can transfer between trams and buses free of charge in one hour (I think 74 minutes).. As it can be understood, the tickets are bought in order not to be penalized if there is a check.

The tickets I mentioned are not valid on buses numbered 98 and 99 for airport transportation.. In terms of distance, you can go as far as Saint Paul de Vence on the side towards France and Monaco on the side towards Italy (not including the ones I count as the border). Ticket prices may differ for the future, I will write down the sights in the vicinity and the buses that go there. I mentioned which buses you can use for transportation in Nice in my Nice Places to Visit article.

By the way, it is not enough just to wait at the stop for the buses to stop.. It is useful to raise your hand as if stopping a minibus.

The tram line passes through all the central parts of the city.. I took the picture in Massena Square.

Night Buses

Night buses named Noctambus have five lines. All five buses N1 – N5 departing from their first stop, the Promenade des Arts, at 21:10 pm, disperse to different locations.. The last buses leave at 01:10.. The ticket prices of the buses are the same as the day buses, fortunately.. Find out which bus will be useful for you by checking the routes on this map, then write the name of that bus here and find out what time it will pass from the stop you want.. Finally, be at that stop at that hour to avoid waiting for the next bus for half an hour

Tram

I think it’s the most logical way to get around Nice, because it goes through almost anywhere that needs to be seen. The tickets are the same as the buses. Hours are great, it starts at 4:25 and ends at 1:35 at night, so it works like a day and night line.. Hopital Pasteur direction goes east and Henri Sappia direction goes north, I wrote what is in which stops in my places to visit article.. For tram times and stop names, you can check here.
