My 2017 Travel Recap: Eliminating Items from the ‘Before I Die’ List

With only a few days left until the end of 2017, I wanted to summarize where I went and what I did this year, just like the previous two years.. 2017 was a bit more productive for me in terms of travel compared to 2016, as I completed the first year of my life in Munich and started to get used to it, and as I traveled less on the Istanbul-Munich route after my wife settled in Munich

Those who say, “You live in Germany, have plenty of annual leave, of course you can travel” can read my 2015 travel summary, which I took 8 days off, and my 2016 travel summary, which I took 11 days off.

Let’s start with the numbers.

– 7 holidays (at least one night accommodation)

– 4 new countries (others I have visited before)

– 27 days per year leave (I took the pain of the previous permission-poor years and used my full permission )

– 42 nights stay

Now, let’s see which countries and cities I went to in which months.

I went to Batu Caves, Malaysia in February.

JANUARY – FEBRUARY

I started with the Singapore-Bali-Malaysia trio as the longest and most interesting holiday of the year. It was great to stay overnight at the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore to swim in the famous infinity pool and have fun like kids at Universal Studios. Afterwards, Bali was a place that I had wanted for a long time and had to postpone, I was happy to finally succeed

As it is my second trip to Singapore, it is the first new country of the year when I set foot in Bali. Indonesia became. Afterwards, Malaysia was my second new country, I didn’t like Kuala Lumpur very much, but the relatively affordable prices of infinity pool hotels with Petronas Towers view (click here to review the hotel I stayed in) and I need to stop by to visit Batu Caves.. I think the main beautiful places of Malaysia are Langkawi and Penang islands, I loved them both.

I planned this trip as 3 nights Singapore, 6 nights Bali, 3 nights Kuala Lumpur, 2 nights Langkawi and 1 night Penang, everything from scratch it literally took me weeks to research and make the right plan. I gathered information such as transportation details and prices so you don’t have to worry so much, you can read it here: Singapore, Malaysia and Bali Tour: Destination & Cost

Where and how much I spent after my trip I also explained with graphics and explained the total cost: How Much Did the Singapore-Bali-Malaysia Trip Cost?

Finally; My articles in the Singapore category and Where to Stay in Bali? My article may also be of use to you.. If you need a driver in Bali, I would like to help you; because there are so many options so it took me a long time to find the right driver. You can reach me through my social media accounts, which I will share again at the end of the article, or via e-mail.

There were messages asking about the hotel with an infinity pool in Bali, let me share it again: Ubud The hotel pictured below where I stayed in

APRIL

Dutch tulip season I bought tickets for Eindhoven and back as Amsterdam so I wouldn’t miss it when it comes to the Easter holiday, but I missed the flight as a succession of mishaps Last year, my Brussels ticket was canceled due to the explosion, I was sitting at home anyway, what is my bad luck this Easter holiday? I didn’t understand.

When I missed the flight, I said, ‘If I’m at the airport, I’ll look for the next plane’, but the Easter holidays were very cheap, just like our holidays, last minute tickets were very cheap.. Then I went to the train station and couldn’t find anything there, let’s see, let’s see, let’s see home But then I didn’t give up and the next day I was able to find the 12-hour Flixbus bus to Amsterdam and make the trip, albeit only in the form of Amsterdam.

Don’t miss the tulip season in the Netherlands to see this wonderful view.

Good thing I did, the view of the tulips was magnificent. I went to the town of Volendam for a day and went to watch a live sex theater for fun in Amsterdam I wrote the Dutch Tulip Gardens article, which you must read for tulips, the difference between tulip garden and tulip field is a bit confusing and the other articles I read on the internet are not up to date, so I only went. i was able to learn. If you’re interested, my post on Amsterdam Red Light Street & Live Sex Theater was also appreciated

JUNE

If you’ve read my 2016 trip summary article that I linked above, you might have seen that I said ‘It would be nice to go on the Colmar-Alsace route in the summer’, because then I went in January.. Then I wanted to see the summer situation right away, and I took my breath on the Alsace Wine Road route where France’s cookie houses are located.. I rented a car and stayed in Colmar for 2 nights and Strasbourg for 1 night.

It’s really beautiful places and it’s already on everyone’s priority list these days, so I started preparing travel guides because it’s been asked a lot. If you want to explore the fairy tale villages of France but don’t know where to start, this article is for you: How to Plan a Trip to Alsace (Colmar – Strasbourg)

The Alsace region of France, one of the most popular European routes of recent times.

JULY

Long live summer! When I found a cheap flight ticket, I opened the summer season as Sicily for 4 nights and Malta for 3 nights.. The island of Sicily is a little different from the rest of Italy.. Still the Mount Etna tour was interesting and the guide we toured with was also great. You can check the website at etna-trip.com.

Malta was the third new country of the year, it was again a place I wanted and postponed for some reason, but unfortunately this time it was late. I couldn’t see the Azure Window, which was destroyed a few months before my trip because of my departure. Other than that, even though my wife likened it to ‘like Şanlıurfa’ due to the yellow appearance of the buildings and the extreme heat (!), I liked Malta.

AUGUST

When it was nice that my friend got married in Kuşadası at the end of July and my family was going to have a holiday in Bodrum in August, I planned a Turkey holiday for 3 nights in Kuşadası and 4 nights in Bodrum

I went to Kuşadası for the first time, especially I always wanted to see the Ancient City of Ephesus.. I also loved Dilek Peninsula National Park.. Villa Konak Hotel, where I stayed in Kusadasi, was a very sweet family business, and I saw and appreciated the people of Kusadasi as clean and doing their job properly.

I went to Kuşadası for the first time and had the opportunity to visit the Ancient City of Ephesus.

In Bodrum, with my family 30. We celebrated my birthday, even when I was finishing my 20s, I didn’t know if it was good or bad to be happy with the surprise Hello Kitty and pink party concept In August, if you saw a ‘different’ walking around Bodrum bazaar with a Hello Kitty crown on his head and a Hello Kitty balloon in his hand, it was me.

I was very happy to my surprise Hello Kitty themed party in Bodrum, welcome 30 years old!

I said that one holiday is not enough for August, the most beautiful holiday month, and I went to the second one after a week.. In keeping with my motto, ‘At least one cold country every summer’, this year’s lucky winner was Norway after Northern Ireland and Wales last year.. I planned 1 night in Oslo, 2 nights in Odda and 1 night in Bergen and at the same time, Norway was my last new country for 2017.

I made Oslo and Bergen the most beautiful. I think I was traveling in time, a seasonal coat was enough for me. I met a very interesting hippie host by couchsurfing in Oslo, I found the famous Bergen houses very cute and I hitchhiked for the first time in my life.. The real bombshell of the trip was, of course, the Trolltunga climb, 28 km easy to say! Despite the difficulty of the route, the beautiful views along the way and the feeling of accomplishment at the end were worth everything.

Hitchhiking for the first time in my life on my trip to Norway I did, it’s normal there.

Since I have been doing heavy sports for years, my breathing was short of breath, my knees were loosened, I guess I can’t do it before halfway, I can’t move from muscle pain the next day. There were no failures, but I wish good luck to those who do not have a sports background

All the details for the Trolltunga trip are also on my priority list like Colmar – Alsace, I will add the travel guides as soon as possible. For now, I shared my video of climbing Trolltunga on my YouTube channel, you can watch it by clicking here.

To push my limits physically and observe how wonderful nature can be.

SEPTEMBER

July – After August was very busy, I decided to stay at home for ‘totally emotional’ reasons.. But in order not to sit idly by in Munich, I bought tickets for Holi, the festival of colors that I have long admired by seeing people’s photos at events in different countries and cities.. The Holi festival was originally from India and the original was there, but the Munich version wasn’t bad either.. Thus, even though I was without a vacation, I was not inactive

I attended the festival of colors Holi held in Munich in September.

OCTOBER

Munich is the ‘sultan of 11 months’ Oktoberfest time slot, so the city overflowed again. There are a lot of people coming from Turkey too, I had a hard time keeping up with the messages I didn’t feel myself at the fashion show every time I wore 4 different Oktoberfest costumes, but with the nice comments and messages from my Instagram account, my eyeballs took the shape of a heart for a while.

Since I am a native of Munich, I can be assertive about my articles in the Munich section and the Oktoberfest guide, I say read it.

I did not neglect to take a picture with the most handsome ‘polizei’ of Oktoberfest

NOVEMBER

And guess where the last trip of the year is? Of course, I had to go to the places to visit in the Netherlands other than Amsterdam, which I couldn’t go because of my flight in April

I immediately made the same plan as the same departure and return from Eindhoven to Amsterdam, cheap flight from Munich a route that can be ticketed because. I read that there isn’t much in Eindhoven, so as soon as I landed at Eindhoven Airport, I set off for Rotterdam.

I also stopped by the famous town of Zaanse Schans on my trip to the Netherlands.

I arranged the accommodation as 1 night in Rotterdam, 1 night in Utrecht and 2 nights in Amsterdam.. It was possible to expand the route by renting a car; Delft – Rotterdam – Den Haag Castle – Utrecht – Zaanse Schans – Edam – Amsterdam, I visited every place I wanted to see in the Netherlands, in order, I guess I won’t have anything to do with the Netherlands for a while

DECEMBER

As I just said, I had the last holiday of the year in November, and December was the month of December by visiting the Christmas markets in Munich and in 2018. I spent the first two months planning my holidays in. Sometimes I have readers asking what I’m going to do during the Christmas break (December 25th and 26th is a public holiday here), but it’s so expensive to go anywhere during the Christmas period that you have to pay double or triple the price of the plane tickets, so if you think of places to go without a plane, they’re too cold, I can’t freeze.. That’s why I thought it would be best to sit at home and write, then when you can’t find the place you are looking for, I get upset

I visited the Christmas markets.

This is how 2017 passed for me; Staying at the Marina Bay Sands hotel, going to Bali, experiencing the tulip season in the Netherlands and climbing Trolltunga were the items I could eliminate from my bucketlist.. I hope it has been a year for you to achieve many things you want.

Don’t forget to follow my accounts below to be informed about the innovations I wish all of us a healthy, happy and of course a lot of travel 2018 .
