Langkawi Kilim Geological Park / Kilim Geoforest Park, home to unique Fauna and Flora

Unesco 1 Langkawi was awarded the title of World Ecological Park in June 2007. There are 3 geological parks under protection. These are;

Machincang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Kilim Karst Geoforest Park and Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park.

It is possible to see the rounded limestone hills and limestone formations in this magnificent geological area located on the eastern part of Langkawi Island.

By purchasing the Mangrove tour package, Kartal feeding ( eagles feeding), Gua Kelawar (bat cave) and fish farm.

Muddy coasts, river mouths and The forests, which consist of tree species that form dense forests in the swamps, are called “Mangroves”.

We stop by the local fish farms on the mangrove river, feed the fish and have a very enjoyable time.. Thankfully, our guide informs us about fish we have never seen before.

Horseshoe Crab – Limulus Polyphemus

It has been determined that it belongs to the horseshoe crab dinosaurs, which is the oldest creature (425 million years thin), at least 100 million years old.. And from that time to this time, it has come to this time in the same state without any change in its characteristics.. The blood of this animal is blue because it contains hemocyanin instead of hemoglobin.. Although it is known as a shellfish, this creature, which is actually a spider species, has the feature of living for 1 year without eating.

The effect on human health and the effects of many diseases ( leukemia, cancer, etc.) has a potential in the diagnosis of. There is also a rare B12 protein in the blood of this creature.

We saw this creature, which is endangered due to unconscious hunting, for the first time in the fish farm in Geo Kilim Park.

Leaving the fish farm and heading towards Gua Kelawar – the cave where the bats are located, with our boat, we slowly follow the surroundings but never get enough of watching.. The cave is quite large and has been built on the bridge so that visitors can easily navigate inside.

In the pitch-dark cave, the guide shows the ceilings and rock formations with a lantern in his hand.. After our cave tour is over, the bridge takes us out.. As soon as we got outside, the first thing we saw was a langur monkey

The main thing was that we saw a real mangrove forest

Mangrove forests are one of the most productive and complex ecosystems on earth. Mangrove forests are in danger just as the living creatures and all the beauties in the world are in danger of extinction.. Although attention has been drawn to the calls for the protection of mangrove forests after the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, it is difficult to say that serious measures have been taken.

We also included the Gua Kelawar part of our trip. We arrive at the area where we will complete and feed the wild eagles by touring the mangrove shores.. As the boat stopped, they all swarmed around us as if the eagles were waiting for us.. By throwing the food prepared by the guide to the eagles, we fed wild animals with a very different experience.

While feeding the eagle (burgundy eagle), which Langkawi takes its name from,

We conclude our article by stating that places in the nature of geological heritage are very important in terms of both our better understanding of the formation of the earth and the transfer of this information to future generations, and thank you for taking the time to read.
