1.Climb to San Giovanni Castle

So your tour will not exceed 5-10 minutes.. But take at least 30 minutes for a unique view of the city.. Capture beautiful photo frames.

If you choose the path with stairs leading from the interior of the Old Town District to this castle, as many tourists do, you now pay a fee.. There is a departure fee of around 9-10 euros.. This didn’t exist before. In fact, when we went, they said, “We’ve only just started buying it”.. But after we paid this fee, we learned that there is a free way to the castle.

For this free way, you need to go to the castle from outside the Old Town District.. We were told to exit the northern gate of the Old Town, then proceed towards the mountain from the riverside, we unfortunately did not try the free road.. But it is said that you can find it very easily.. Therefore, know that you can go up to this castle without paying a fee of 9-10 euros.

The 1355 steps leading up to the top of the castle take you 15 minutes.. It leads to the top of the citadel, where there is a 17th-century church, the remains of military buildings, and eventually a fort.. When you arrive at this hill, you will have to sit until the evening with the view.

If you are going to Kotor in the summer and plan to climb this hill, remember that it can be super hot here.. Don’t forget to bring lots of water with you.. Even if you forget, you may have to buy expensive water on the hill during the hot summer months.

2.The Famous Old Town – Tour the Old Town

Old Town In fact, Kotor should be at the top of the list of places to visit.. But we wanted to add it to the top of our list, as the view of the San Giovanni Castle really fascinated us.. If you don’t know the free way to the castle, you have to go through the Old City District to go to the castle.

One of the must-see places in Kotor’s Old Town Another religious building is the Church of St. Luke.

This religious building, which was founded as a Catholic Church in 1195, is 17. It was used as a Catholic school until the middle of the century.. Later, it was given to Orthodox believers for use due to the wars in Kotor and the arrival of the Orthodox people in the city.
