There is a place called
Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden,. Where? in Konya. I did not know. No one even mentioned its existence, or even mentioned it.. Even if they say, “It’s just an ordinary garden!” I think I would pass. Until you get tired of going to Konya Seljuk and seeing both the historical richness of the city and the existence of this beautiful Tropical Butterfly Garden, dying of astonishment and appreciating it.. be an example. Why?
Because traveling the world isn’t just about vacationing in other countries.. Traveling the world is about gaining a vision, learning, discovering, understanding and telling.
The managers of Konya Selçuklu Municipality, who saw, learned and implemented this in a wonderful way, did not just visit, they left an admirable facility to our country, a legacy to our children.. But what’s wrong with this Tropical Butterfly Garden? Let me explain :
1- About Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden
Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is built on a very, very large land.. It is a giant complex of 3,500 square meters with a sightseeing area and a total area of 7,600 square meters.
It contains all kinds of tropical plants, a small waterfall, a museum and hundreds of butterfly eggs.. Butterflies are brought from the Philippines and Kenya as pupae.
First, after the entrance we buy tickets. There are friends taking photos with us.. They take your photos and you can take them for a fee when you leave.
Then, biologists who give detailed information about butterflies begin to give you detailed information.. Humid and hot inside. Well, this is the most suitable weather conditions for butterflies.
As we move inwards, a lush environment welcomes us. Butterflies everywhere, but neeee butterflies welcome us. They fly from place to place and present a wonderful sight.
I love it.. My mouth is open, I’m touching like I’m dying of happiness. I’m glad because I’m surprised. It is the place to say the joy of surprise and pride.
Afterwards, I watch the butterflies inside the pupae and protected in glass cabinets.. Some are still in the pupa, some are born, but their wings are not wet yet, so they hang in place.. I’m on my way.
This time, giant butterflies welcomes me. I am lucky. ‘Cause they’re newborns. The giant butterfly Atlas, that is, Atlas Moth, with a wingspan of exactly 28 cm, greets me.
The butterfly’s wings and pattern, dominated by dark brown and tones, are so beautiful that I don’t know what else would be better than the word “miracle”.. After seeing the beautiful work of nature, I continue to wander in admiration.
This time, I come across a waterfall.. Yes. The men who made it in the park. You can imagine the view of butterflies flying around the shimmering water.. It’s like a movie…
Chasing butterflies in the park for about 1 hour and enjoying the best view After struggling to take pictures, now I’m going to the museum section. Here, the life cycles of butterflies are exhibited.
Full 5 stages explain what kind of life and life cycle the butterflies in the facility have.. There is even a cinema.. I just sit there and watch the butterflies live.. What about another? What else makes this Tropical Butterfly Garden so special ?
- Turkey’s only and Europe’s largest butterfly park
- About 20 different butterfly species and approximately 5000 butterflies
- More than 20,000 tropical plants from 98 different species
- The butterfly museum also displays the 5-stage lavral stages of butterflies. You can watch them both in the museum and in the cinema section.

2- About Butterflies
Our first question: How many days do butterflies live? Or are you one of those who think that butterflies live for 1 day? Lie.
No butterfly survives a day.. I was one of those who said that he will live one day and I was wrong.. Why?
Because some species of butterflies can live a full year from him. He lives for 1 day, the Mayfly, which is very similar to butterflies, is notorious because it lives for 1 day and is thought to be a butterfly.. So how exactly do butterflies live? What is a butterfly ?
What is a butterfly? Butterflies are actually a type of insect and belong to the class of flakes.
Now.. Let’s talk about another interesting feature. These guys have exactly 3 legs. This is the most interesting thing. I thought they had 2 legs.
Then, their mouth was shaped like a proboscis, not the mouth you know.. And finally, not surprisingly, they had 2 wings.. Come on dear…
Eee. another another? Then, can these butterflies taste with their feet?. “How! So they have tongues on their feet?” you may ask. That’s right sir. These friends have tongues on their feet. Who knows what else they have…
For example, these butterflies reproduce with eggs.. The process of hatching is as follows: The larva that emerges from the egg is called a caterpillar.. Then these caterpillars, after feeding well, form a pupa for itself.
The caterpillars that metamorphose inside the pupa come out of the pupa as butterflies.. They can’t fly as soon as they take off because their wings aren’t open yet.. With the body fluid they secrete from their bodies, the wings come to life and gain the ability to fly.. Isn’t it a complete miracle?
- Butterflies can live up to 1 year long
- The ideal environment is 28 degrees
- To sum up, the butterfly life process is; Shaped like egg – caterpillar – pupa – butterfly…
