Places to Visit in Karaburun

When you consider the surrounding villages, places to visit in Karaburun will take at least 2-3 days.. One day, you can go to Sarpıncık Lighthouse and see both Yeniliman and Sazak Village, and you can swim in Hamzabükü, Kumbükü and Badembükü.. So this side will take at least 1 day of your. If you force the remaining places, you can visit in 1 day, but when you squeeze it into the same day, you can neither understand anything from the places you visit, nor can you swim properly.. Therefore, one day you can wander around the center of Karaburun and Amberseki village in its vicinity and Dolungaz bay, and one day you can go to Mordoğan side.

Karaburun Beach

Daytime in Karaburun you don’t understand how the time passes in the sea, on the beach and in the bays, but there is not much to do in the evenings. Still, Karaburun Beach is enough; There are places where you can sit and have a drink when you get back from the sea, and there are very nice restaurants for dinner.

After dinner, you can end your evening by taking a walk on the Karaburun beach and walking around the night market.

Mordoğan

One of the top places to visit in Karaburun, Mordoğan takes its name from the magnificent sunrise.. We thought this was just the beach at first, but when we went, we saw that there were more places to visit in Mordoğan.. Of course, the region where those who come for a holiday is dense; Mordoğan beach, where the pier, restaurants, cafes and hotels are located.

The old Mordoğan village, where the settlement continues now, is 2-3 km inland from the beach.. Ayşe Kadın Mosque, Muesser Aktaş Ethnography Museum and History House, Zeki Müren Wish Fountain and Çatalkaya where you can see Mordoğan beach from above is one of the places to visit in Mordoğan village.. Even if you don’t have time to visit all of them, we say at least come and walk through the historical streets among the old Greek houses.

Ayşe Kadın Mosque, a small mosque from the 14th century.. Although there are various rumors about its name, it is written on the panel in front of it that it was built by a person named Ayşe Kadın and her name comes from here.. Müesser Aktaş Ethnography Museum and History House are right next to the mosque.. Müesser Hanım, who lives in the village, renovated the primary school she attended and brought this museum to tourism by exhibiting the belongings of the people living here.

Sazak Village

This was a Greek village and its population was Chios with the population exchange. abandoned after settling on island. Currently it is much more correct to say Sazak Ruins instead of Sazak village. Because the houses have not been preserved in any way, they have even been plundered.

If you don’t have much interest in such historical places, it may not be worth coming all the way from the center of Karaburun, maybe if you come to Badembükü, you can stop by while you’re at it.. So don’t expect a living village like Adatepe or Cumalıkızık. But if you are interested in historical places like me to try to see the traces of the past even in an old stone, definitely go.. Enter between the houses from a place you catch your eye, there are about 100 houses. Just wear nice shoes on your feet because there is some thorny grass where you are walking. As we said, the houses are in ruins, but there is a lot for those who know how to see.. The first thing that caught our attention was that the houses were very close, we searched later and learned that it was for mosquito protection.. Also, behind almost all the houses there are cisterns built to collect rainwater, it’s obvious that it’s a pretty dry place anyway.. There is a small and church-like structure, the place where it is located also looks like the center of the village, of course we could have compared it too.

By the way, the location of the village is really nice and you can see Chios. There is a magnificent sea view. We went early, but we are sure that it will be a beautiful sunset.

Although a small part of the road is stabilized, overall it is not bad, at least you can drive to where the houses are.. The phone has almost no reception and there is no signage for Sazak Village.. There are too many wind turbines around and we thought for a while if we accidentally entered the power plant, luckily, we saw Sazak Village before long.. That’s why it’s useful to understand its exact location on the map before you set off.

Sarpincik Lighthouse

Wherever we go, if there is a lighthouse, we don’t return until we go there.. Although we cannot explain it fully, the loneliness and experiences of the lighthouses attract us.. Therefore, among the places to visit in Karaburun, the place that caught our attention the most was Sarpıncık Lighthouse.

Sarpıncık Lighthouse, which has been in service since 1938 and is located on the peninsula. a lighthouse at the tip. It has been guiding the ships entering the Izmir Bay for years.. Since the road is a bit bad, it is not very crowded, you feel the loneliness and silence of the lighthouse.

Even though the road is bad, the view is magnificent and especially the sunset is much more beautiful than you can imagine.. A place to go and take your chair and tea with you in the evening.. However, if you are not very confident in your driving, set off before the sun goes down.. Because you may not want to turn that road in the dark.

Yeniliman

Yeniliman, a small and quiet fishing village, is a place worth stopping by and eating fish at least, if not for sightseeing.. Even if you’re not hungry, you can at least come and have a cup of tea, but don’t expect more.. It is not a place to go to swim in the sea, of course, but what is the need when there are so many beautiful bays in Karaburun?.

Saip Village

As a matter of fact, there is not much to visit in Saip village. In other words, it is not a village to visit in particular, but it is about 1 km inland from the main road between Karaburun and Mordoğan.. Considering that you will use this road frequently, there is no reason not to stop by Saip Village and drink coffee at Nihalce Saip Kır Kahvesi.. When you enter the village, you will see the old stone houses and Saip Mosque, there is no other place to visit.

Ambarseki Village

This place is no different from Saip village, it is a village not to be visited but to visit.. Melisa Village Breakfast House is famous for its breakfast, there is also a wonderful view of Karaburun. Obviously, there is nothing else in Amberseki Village.

Karaburun Bays and Beaches

The number of places to swim in Karaburun is quite high, so if your only expectation is to swim in the sea, Karaburun beaches will suffice for you.. However, if you are expecting a beach or something, you will not find what you are looking for here.

Generally, the beaches and sea entrances are stony, the bottom of the sea is sandy when opened a little, but it gets deep very quickly, the water is a little cold, you don’t feel cold, but it brings you to yourself.. Beaches in the center such as Incirlikoy, Bodrum beach, Mimosa bay and Iğdeleraltı beach are a bit crowded as you can imagine. We can say that there are more crowded beaches in Ay Balığı and Manal Bay in Mordoğan, even compared to the beaches in the center of Karaburun.

Karaburun’ If you are asking where is the best place to swim in the sea, you need to get away from the center and go to the Karaburun bays.. Hamzabükü, Boyabağı dark, Kumbükü, Dolungaz bay, Badembükü and Gonsuz bay, all of them are beautiful than the other.

There is only one thing about Karaburun beaches and coves; Your satisfaction may vary depending on the time you go and your expectations.. For example, we liked Hamzabükü very much, but if you want to rent a sunbed and relax, or at least have a place to eat, this place is not for you.. There may also be a lot of wind in some bays or an extreme jellyfish invasion on some beaches.. Therefore, if you want to take a look at our Karaburun Bays & Beaches article, where we explain the places to swim in Karaburun down to the last detail so that you can choose the places that suit you, click.

Karaburun Restaurants

Almost every shop along the Karaburun coast has become a fish restaurant.. Although some offer slightly better service, most of the restaurants in Karaburun are similar to each other and there are places to eat very good fish.. However, most of them do not have a menu and you encounter a surprise account.. Some restaurants have price boards in front of the shops, but the price of each product is not written.. That’s why many people complain about the incoming account, but we didn’t have any problems.. For example, we were going to eat mullet, and when ordering, we asked how many kilos it would weigh and how much it weighed, and we even negotiated..

The first place we will recommend for dinner is Mermaid Restaurant, mullet and squid were really good. Even though we bargained so much for fish, they even offered dessert.. Altintabak İsmet Usta and Kopanisti Fish Restaurant are also quite good, but the service is really slow when crowded. By the way, the choice of restaurant may change, but we definitely say that you should not return to Karaburun without eating mullet.. In the morning, we woke up from hunger and went to look for a place for breakfast early.. Most of the restaurants were closed, we saw a place called Zeze Bar and asked if there was breakfast, when we said there was, we sat directly. Normally, maybe we wouldn’t have preferred it, but we didn’t regret it, we had things to eat instead of exaggerated things as we wanted and the price was reasonable.. In short, although we cannot say that it is the best place to have breakfast in Karaburun, Zeze Bar is a place we can recommend in terms of price and performance.

Accommodation in Karaburun

Karaburun is not a very developed holiday region, therefore accommodation options are very limited.. For once, don’t expect a luxury hotel, most of the hotels in Karaburun are hotels from hostels.. If you ask us, there are two options for accommodation in Karaburun; the first is camping, the second is renting a house from Airbnb. In short, if you do not have camping experience, look at the houses, there are houses where you can stay in the comfort of a hotel.

Karaburun Campgrounds

If we are going somewhere for the first time, we usually try to prefer paid camping areas.. Because some regions are very strict about camping, you settle in a very beautiful bay, the gendarmerie comes and says camping is prohibited, raise your tent or we will write a fine.. However, when we researched the paid camping areas in Karaburun, we could not find a place exactly as we were looking for.. Like hugging a snake falling into the sea, Şirinbaba Camping can be preferred, there is also Maki Boyabag, a new place but its operator is very interested.

Since we do not know if it will be a problem. we couldn’t afford to camp in the bays. However, we have good news; we worried in vain. When we went, we visited the Karaburun campsites; We saw that there are many beautiful coves such as Hamzabükü, Kumbükü and Badembükü where you can camp for free without any problems.

Camping sites in Karaburun. There are also very nice Glamping areas.. Pingala Glamping is a very nice place where you can stay in the caravans of the business. There is also Capo Glamping in Mordoğan, where you can stay in the tents of the establishment, which even has its own garden.

The campsites we mentioned above and much more Karaburun campsites we explained in our article, click to review.
