In the summer of 2018, when we reached the peace of mind for 9 days by connecting the Eid al-Adha holiday, we started to search for a route and decided to find out all the places we wanted to go at once, and travel to the fullest.. I want to tell you all my experiences after traveling 1700 km in 3 countries and many stops in 9 days. Where you must go, where is overrated, how can you complete this route for the cheapest? I recommend my strong> post.

How Was Our Route? Let’s evaluate our Road Trip stops!

You will find detailed travel guides on the blog where I will give spoilers with a few sentences to give you an idea about the evaluation part of the stops.

The Italy of our trip Our route for the leg was as follows.

  • Bologna: The orange city, which is a quiet, small, walkable city center that can be visited in 1 day.
  • Florence: Italy’s second open-air museum after Rome, its most popular city. You were not wrong, beautiful city. It will be remembered with the sunset we made from Michelangelo hill!

* When crossing from Bologna to Florence, follow the Tuscany Valley road instead of the highway. You will travel in the clouds with longer, more oxygenated, scenic views.

  • Pisa: A stop just to stop by, to take silly photos with the Leaning Tower of Pisa

    • .
    • La Spezia:To visit 5 villages, you must either stay here or in Levanto. We loved the summer town very much.
    • Cinque Terre: A paradise of tiny colorful houses built on the hills. If you have time, include the nearby villages and complete the tour with 10 villages.. After the 5 villages are finished, you can give priority to Porto Venere.
    • Santa Margherita:The lovely seaside town on Portofino, which we stopped by before arriving in Genoa.. We loved it so much, we also went to the sea. I think you should definitely stop by.
    • Portofino: So luxurious! If I had a yacht, we were saying that it would be okay if I pulled up to this bay, but for travelers like us, it is not very meaningful except for its visual beauty.. Until he discovered the blue cove between Santa Margherita and Portofino.. The water was very beautiful, the most beautiful sea we entered during the trip belonged here. While you are in Portofino, if you have time, go to Rapallo too!

Your stops will take you to Genoa while visiting Italy’s Liguria region. will deliver to . We didn’t go because we weren’t interested, but it’s famous for its Pesto and Focaccia.

    • Nice: We loved it, it’s an incredibly enjoyable city. Touristic, not in the sense of traveling, but in the sense of vacation, point by point. There are many dining and entertainment options, the streets are beautiful, the city center has a deep blue sea and the atmosphere is always lively.
    • Saint Paul De Vence: A fairytale town. It’s a very photographic stop, where not everyone gets off course.. It hasn’t become a classic until now, “I’m in the village of France right now, brother!” a destination that will make you feel the feeling.
    • Villafranche-Sur-Mer: Whether you enjoy the sea or have a cold drink in the tiny streets, mingle with the people. It’s a location you’ll definitely enjoy.
    • Eze: Confession: I couldn’t love it too much! I don’t want to compare, but it didn’t have the effect of Saint Paul on me.. Still, of course it’s fine, after all, Nietzsche wrote his book “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” here.. The most popular event is to see the cactus garden.
    • Monaco: The smallest country in the world after the Vatican. You see, hop France finished Monaco started. It’s a very rich place, but you should go there to take in the atmosphere of the Monte Carlo casino and watch the scenery from the cliffs.
    • Antibes: Neither overly touristic, beyond magnificent, but this ordinariness makes it so. makes it livable and very enjoyable. Stroll in and out of everywhere from the marina to all its old streets. You can have breakfast at Paul’s patisserie, thank you for every croissant you eat
    • Cannes:The bad news will not be a film festival mood waiting for you! Cannes, which we expected very cool, is actually beautiful, you can swim in the sea, but it still cannot meet the expectation it creates.. There was a lot of traffic, and I would say it was not worth it to see those red carpet stairs and the building where the awards were given at the film festival.
    • St.. Tropez: Isn’t that cool? On this beautiful coastline, which is the right address for beach parties and marginal activities, we were not in the mood to make kop kopecks when the Euro rates were like this.. Of course, we could not understand the full taste, but I think that if you go and stay for 1 night, the taste can be very different.. We really liked the famous cream dessert we ate here at La Tarte Tropezienne.
    • Marseille: We were in Marseille as we saw it from a port and went to the Balon Hotel in the Allauch region. We didn’t spend time, but our friends said that it was too much city, too much chaos.. Maybe it can put you in a different mood after all these quiet resort towns, for better or for worse.

How Were the Roads? Highway Prices Hurt Us!!!

We rented our car from Bugdet, we had no problems with the road. Especially after traveling 3500 km in a single lane in the Balkans! Everywhere is highway in general, but if we count the parking lots for these beautiful roads, we have made an expense of 1000 TL in total.. Italy goes a long way and makes block payments to you, while France takes 1-2 Euros per step from their tolls.. You don’t have to buy anything like HGS, you can pay with cash or credit card.. Especially those Genoa roads, what a tunnel these guys have made, friend! We went through the tunnels for a while on the road we took as a road trip.. You can do this a little on the beaches of Italy, if you have a lot of time, of course, because the time is too long! However, for the French side, you seem to have no choice but to take the highway.

How to arrange accommodation in Road Trip?

Open the map and find a logical selection of the places you want to go according to the distances between each other. Make a plan and choose where to stay. Make cancellable reservations for free on Airbnb or Booking.com. Of course, you can spontaneously turn off the lantern wherever you want in the evening and in the morning, but both the places you will stay may be more expensive and if you are going in high season, you may have trouble finding a place, remember!

The Cost of Our Whole Trip

We went on this trip with a couple of friends, so we split the cost of car rental, fuel, Airbnb accommodations and highway. If you are going as a single family, you can multiply the above-mentioned expenses by 2.

    • Flight Ticket: 2 persons 1200 TL (171 Euro)
    • Accommodation: 46 (Bologna Hotel), 62(Florence Hotel), 40 (La Spezia Airbnb), 104 (3 nights in Nice Airbnb), 139 (Marseille) Balon Hotel) – All in Euro
    • Car Rental: 53 Euro (8 days)
    • Gasoline: 95 Euro
    • Highway & Parking Lot: 67 Euros
    • Food and Beverage: 350 Euro

For 2 persons As a family, I can say that this trip cost us 1130 Euros.. Good thing we bought and stocked up at Euro 5s and paid for the hotels in advance.. 7 would have tired us out!

Finally, I will have a few tips to make your journey much more enjoyable.

    – You never know what kind of hotels you will encounter.. Take a pillowcase with you, especially if you are going without a hotel.

    – Keep snacks and snacks along the way.

    – Set out with at least 2 backpacks. If you are too lazy to take your suitcases to the hotel where you will stay for 1 night, you can put the clothes of the day in a backpack and leave the room like us.

    – The journey is more enjoyable with music.. Prepare a good playlist for an enjoyable road trip. Even better, follow me on Spotify and listen to The Story’s Road Songs!
