Turkey and world automobile market. In fact, I think it would not be wrong to say that these two segments are intertwined with each other.. Many players in the crossover segment, led by Nissan Qashqai, started to shift to a segment we call compact SUV over time.. Volkswagen Tiguan, one of the former players of this segment, was also renewed before the upcoming big storm.. I also spent 3 days with New Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI Highline (2 liter diesel and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission version) for 3 days.

About the New Volkswagen Tiguan
Tiguain was first showcased as a concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2006. The first version of the car was introduced for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007.. Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI Highline Comments on Design
First of all, let me briefly describe the exterior design of the car, after all, design is a very relative subject.. I think it looks pretty nice and premium from the outside.. It used to be more Toureg-like, but now it looks a bit more Golf-like to me.. Very handsome rivals are coming in this segment. That’s why I think exterior design is an important issue.
Interior Design
When you get inside the car, digital you don’t see a huge change other than the display screen. Well, isn’t it bad inside?
Storage Eyes
There are quite a few storage compartments. They even hid a peek under the driver and front passenger seats.. They put the eye of the glasses in an unusual place.. An eyelet is made above the glove box in front of the front passenger seat. You may not notice it at first because it is in an unusual place.
Digital Display
I think the most striking part of the interior is the digital display screen.. I think this is the most premium part of the car.. You feel like you are in a computer game. This screen is not customizable. Only the information in the middle part changes. Other indicators are stable. I know that one of its competitors has a customization feature on this screen.
Panoramic Glass Roof
Our test vehicle was a panoramic glass roof. It is very enjoyable especially when touring, but it may cause you to use more air conditioners in the summer period.
Large Interior
With the transition to the new platform, the car has a much larger volume. turned into a vehicle. Rear seat legroom is too wide. You can also change the shape and position of the seats almost as much as the front seats.. The trunk space remains quite large even when the rear seats are at the farthest.
Button Ergonomics
I think Volkswagen is the most dedicated to the in-car user experience. one of the investing brands. While designing the buttons on the vehicle, he very well determines what to put where. You don’t look for long to see where he was.. Sometimes it can be a little conservative while doing this.. I think the main reason for this is Volkswagen users are generally loyal customers and they don’t like surprises.
In my opinion, some features such as air conditioning are still not included in the digital screen, although some see it as conservatism, it is much better in terms of user ease of use and ergonomics.. I cannot say the same for the location of the volume control buttons on the steering wheel.. All music-related settings are on the right side of the steering wheel, while only the volume setting is on the left side, which is a bit confusing for first-time users.. In a city like Istanbul where mud is plentiful, hands are a mess while opening and closing this trunk.. (Oh, don’t say what elite problems you have.. If I pay that much money, I pay attention to such things)
Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI Highline Driving Impressions and Comments
With the new Volkswagen Tiguan As I mentioned at the beginning, I only spent 2 full days. Naturally, my determinations are limited to what caught my eye in these 2 days.. Of course, there are other pros and cons that I do not notice in long-term use.
My test vehicle was a 4-wheel drive compact SUV with a 2-liter 150 hp 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.. You activate 4 traction whenever you want.. After all, it is not a 4WD with a lock differential, but gains some capabilities thanks to electronic systems.. Your car almost never gets tired, especially on the long road.. Handling in corners is also pretty good for a compact SUV.. The factor of the new platform is also big in this.. Of course, let’s not ignore the effect of 17-inch tires.
Lane Tracking System
The car’s electronic safety systems are also very successful.. Especially, I used the lane control feature frequently along the road.. When this system is on, it detects the lanes and turns the steering wheel for you.. But he wants you to keep your hand on the wheel. It gives a warning if you remove it.. Of course, do not trust him and do other work, sometimes he does not perceive it.. Sometimes, even in very faint stripes, it can be missed in a smooth strip, while detecting it.. But this system is perfect for those who get out of the lane, especially while playing with the phone, with it.. This system tolerates those little distractions very well.. Do not forget to give a signal when you want to change lanes, otherwise the steering wheel shows some resistance to keep you in the lane.. When you signal, it understands that you will change lanes and does not resist.
What are the Cons of Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI Highline?
I like the car in general There were also some cons that caught my eye:
The car I tested had the highest highline equipment.. Soft premium materials await, which will create a much more luxurious perception in the interior of such a car.. I think the use of such hard plastic is too much for a car over 200 thousand TL.
When you look at the factory data, you expect a 2-liter diesel car to be quite powerful.. When you press the gas, it sticks to the back, you wait for a little bit of centrepiece.. It does not meet your expectation. Of course, it is another fact that no one will buy this car for gas.. If you look at it from that point of view, it is a car that fits its purpose.
The most disappointing thing about the car on long distances was the sound insulation.. Of course, the fact that we use it in a city like Çanakkale with plenty of wind may also have had an effect.. The car transmits the sound more than it should at high speed and on bad roads.. I expect much less noise in the car I paid 200 thousand TL for.
The fact that there is only one USB port on the front is a minus in my opinion.. In these days when mobile phones are connected to the charging unit, there should be at least 2 or more USB ports, if possible, to allow multiple smart devices to be charged in the vehicle.
The price of the car is also quite high due to the tax bracket it is in.. Since the 1.6-liter diesel model of Volkswagen Tiguan does not currently have an automatic transmission option, only this 2-liter version remains as a diesel automatic.
What are the Alternatives to the Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI Highline?

There is fierce competition between crossovers and compact SUVs in this segment.. Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 3008, Seat Ateca, Renault Kadjar, Opel Mokka, Honda CRV are the first competitors that come to my mind.
