Those who study at the university in the Aegean know about Yeşil Köşk or those whose job has fallen on the campus.. It is one of the indispensables of students and academics.. We get the chance to sit in the rooms of the historical mansion in the winter and under the majestic trees in the garden in the summer, to chat with friends and, best of all, to have fun in an alcohol-free area on the campus.. What memories do I have in that mansion and its garden?. In fact, our passion is so great that we have sat on the grass in the garden of Izmir with our friends on those sweltering August nights and watched the stars in the morning.
All students have their experiences here, not just us..
I always used to think like that, but I wouldn’t have thought of thinking about the old one.. However, the mansion of the years was given to Ege University after the restoration works were completed on time.. Who knows what other lives have been lived there.
There is no information about its history inside the mansion, for some reason I did not think of it while researching it. In the past months, I came across a catalog promoting Bornova at the Izmir Tourism Fair. I read it at once with curiosity.
It says;
” Pandespanian House: The building, which is thought to have been built by the Pandespanian Family, who later settled in France, in the 1880s, after undergoing an important restoration, called the Green Mansion at Ege University. It serves as a social facility belonging to. Some sources argue that the family’s name is Bardesbanian.” *
All information is one paragraph. Who knows, maybe one day something more detailed will be encountered in old sources.. Until then, it will continue to keep its mystery for us..
I couldn’t help but add this clip, which was shot in the Green Mansion.
