When to Go to Göcek?

The first thing that comes to your mind is July and August. If the months are coming, or even if you have started planning a vacation for these months, slowly put aside the plan you have made.. If you ask why, it will be very crowded and accommodation will be very costly.. By the way, don’t say that you can rent a boat and the crowd will not be a problem, it is very difficult to find a beautiful bay to moor the boat in these months.. If you ask us, We will go to Göcek in October; the weather is neither hot nor cool, the sea water temperature is absolutely perfect and the environment is very calm.. Of course, there is a small chance of rain, if you want to prevent this, you can choose September to go to Göcek.. Even though it is a little more crowded than October, it will not be crowded.

Göcek Bays & Boat Tours

We came to the most important topic. If you ask why, what brought us here was the Gocek Bays.. There are magnificent coves that you can go on daily boat tours or by renting a private boat.. Normally, we don’t like daily boat tours, especially crowded tours with blaring music, so we were considering renting a private boat until we went to Göcek.. However, we changed our mind when we saw the tour boats in the harbor.. We can say that Göcek boat tours are more boutique tours.. It’s not 70-80 person boats, but slightly smaller boats with tables downstairs and sunbathing areas upstairs.. Mostly family owned; In the kitchen, the captain’s wife and his children are waitresses, so you can eat with peace of mind.

Göcek 12 Islands Boat Tour, the most preferred tour. Most boats do this tour anyway, the route is the same for all of them, only the stopping places may differ.. Generally, the boats leaving from Göcek Harbor pass by Ayten Bay and Osmanağa Bay and then take a swimming break at Büyükova Bay.. Buyukova Bay has a very wide bay and a clear sea.. Boats anchor close to the shore, you can swim to the shore, but beware of sea urchins.. After the swimming break, you see Boynuzbükü and Killebükü, but the boats do not stop here.

The majority of 12 island boat tours are Bedri Rahmi Bay > taking a lunch break at. Of course, until the food service starts; You can go to the shore from the pier and take a walk in the bay or swim in the clear water.. Some tours take their lunch break at Cleopatra Hamam Bay instead of Bedri Rahmi Bay.. You have the chance to swim on the sunken bath ruins in the sea.

Then you go to the return road and take the road between Tersane Island and Domuz Island. Another swimming break is given at strong>Aquarium Bay. Among the Gocek Bays, one of our favorite bays was Aquarium Bay, it has a truly magnificent sea.. Finally, there is another break in the Yassıca Islands, also known as Yassıcalar.. We preferred to go down and take a walk on the island instead of swimming, you can use the path to go to a high point and enjoy the view.. We took the boat called Nil-su 2 and we were very satisfied.. Unless it rains until the end of October, there are definitely boats going on tour.

If you are going to take a private tour instead of the 12 Islands Boat Tour, there are many more bays you can go to.. There are also a few beautiful beaches in and around Göcek.. If you want to get a little more detailed information about the places to swim in Göcek, click for our Gocek Beaches and Bays article.

Places to Visit in Göcek

<

If we leave the bays aside, there is no place to visit and see in the center of Göcek.. The marina and Mega marina covering the entire coast, Göcek Çarşı where you can find restaurants and various shops lined up by the harbor, that’s all.. However, if we look around Göcek, the number of places to visit is quite high.

Fethiye

As a matter of fact, Fethiye is a big place; It is a place to spend at least 4-5 days with its attractions, beaches, coves and magnificent activities such as paragliding.. If you are not planning to visit Dalyan and Köyceğiz, it makes much more sense to stay in Fethiye instead of staying in Göcek.. There is nothing to see in the center of Göcek anyway, the biggest thing is the bays.. The 12 Islands Tour, which we mentioned above, also departs from Fethiye, so you see the same bays.

However, if you are staying in Göcek, you will not regret if you come and visit the main places of Fethiye even for a day.. If you say what can be done in a day; You can see Oludeniz’, wander around Kayaköy, stop by the Amintas Rock Tombs, even from above Butterfly Valley and you can see Pumpkin Bay. Even if you are fast, you can swim in Gemile Bay, even if it is short, yes, the route is a bit wrong, but you will not regret going.

Dalyan

There is a sea pattern, a lake pattern, a history pattern, natural beauty patterns are the most beautiful.. It’s not over. It’s not over.. thermal springs, mud baths, the Dalyan Strait, which connects Köyceğiz Lake with the Mediterranean Sea, Caretta Carettas.. While writing, we realized again that there was quite a thing..

The distance between Göcek and Dalyan is 35 kilometers and a maximum of 40 minutes.. If you don’t have a mind to go swimming, you can start early in the morning and finish all of Dalyan in 1 day.. You can first go to Iztuzu Beach as we did and visit both the beach and the sea turtles rehabilitation center.. On the way to Iztuzu Beach, you will pass Sülüngür Lake. You will also see the magnificent view formed by the reeds in the Dalyan Strait from above.

After Iztuzu Beach, it’s next to the Kaunos Ancient City and Kaunos King Tombs in; Of course, we don’t go around Lake Köyceğiz to cross the Dalyan Strait.. We go to Dalyan Center and cross the ferry from here.. Then we go to the Sultaniye Hot Springs and take a mud bath and relax.. Actually, this place is not connected to Dalyan, but you can stop by while you’re here.

If you say we want to swim in Dalyan, you can do the tour above one day and choose Ekincik Bay or the next day. You can swim in Kargicak Bay.

Koycegiz

Koycegiz is one of the places to visit around Göcek.. The distance between Göcek and Köyceğiz is 38 km, it takes about 40 minutes depending on the condition of the road.. 1 day is enough to visit Köyceğiz; Koycegiz Lake and its surroundings are at the top of the places you should see.. You can sit in restaurants and cafes on the shore of the lake, you can do water sports or boat tours on the lake.. There is even a small island known as Prison Island on the lake.

The places you should see in Köyceğiz outside the lake are; We can say Ağla Plateau, Round Tea, Toparlar Waterfall and Sandras Mountain. If you want to swim, the best option is Ekincik Bay.

Akyaka

Akyaka, which is connected to the Ula district of Muğla , 75 kilometers from Göcek; about 1 hour drive. Yes, it is not very close and it may not make sense to spend 2 hours on the road instead of spending time in the magnificent bays of Göcek.. Even if it is not very big in Akyaka, it is still a place that deserves to stay for 1-2 nights.. If that’s the case, you can say why you wrote it here let’s explain it right away. For example, we stop by Akyaka on the way back and come to ourselves in the ice-cold water of Azmak Stream and continue on our way.. If you have not seen Akyaka before and if you are passing through Akyaka on your way, you can spend half a day and at least take a boat tour on Azmak Stream and wander around Akyaka coast.

What to Eat in Göcek. ??? we can’t say definitely go there. Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, you will not go hungry. Gocek has all kinds of restaurants, thanks to the Gocek eating and drinking guide we have prepared for you, you can find a place that suits your mood.

If you think of raki and fish when you see the sea; Kalamaris, Özcan and Can Restaurant are the places you can choose.

If you are one of those who do not even want to eat in this hot weather; Mezegi‘s light appetizers are just for you.

If you can’t find a place to eat or have a drink no matter what time of the day; West Cafe

If you want to spend a nice evening in a luxurious restaurant with a view like this; If you’re into Asian cuisine, Q Lounge. Breeze with a menu that appeals to everyone if you say no, I don’t like it.

If you say we are bored with fish and appetizers; Caesar-Meat was above our expectations, both its meat is good and its service quality high.

There is also Kebab Hospital, you will definitely come across it because it is a very prominent restaurant.. Frankly, it seemed like a very touristy place to us, you might think so, but it’s not such a bad place.

Where to Stay in Göcek?

There are many options for accommodation in Göcek; luxury hotels, regular hotels, apartments, hostels, houses and of course boats. However, if you ask where to stay in Göcek, we think there are 2 options; if you have money on the boat, if not at home. If you ask why, we think you can freely wander around Göcek Bays and anchor in any bay you want, rather than paying for luxury hotels and being stuck in a certain place.. If you are not going to budget that much for accommodation in Gocek, renting a house is much more convenient than other options.. There are also new and very clean houses, we rented a house through airbnb and we were very satisfied.. You can use this link to book with Airbnb with a discount of up to 450 TL.
