As Ajda Pekkan was thought of as a solution in 1980 to eliminate the failures and disappointments in our Eurovision history, which started with Semiha Yankı in 1975, after years passed, she became a member of MFÖ for Turkey. it was a hope.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the competition added some things to Turkey besides its failure.. After our participant group announced to the European Broadcasting Union as “Mazhar Fuat Özkan”, a formula was developed after the presenters could not say these three names in quick succession during the competition rehearsals.. It would be called MFÖ instead of Mazhar Fuat Özkan. Thus, Mazhar Fuat Özkan’s name has remained MFÖ since 1985.
