Ireland was a country that took me away from me with its lush nature.. This country has not only Dublin, but also many other cities to see.. When I asked Deniz, whose experiences I follow with envy, if she has an Irish travel guide, she said that she had not been there yet, but that if I could write something, I could share it.. Of course, I felt a responsibility when I said I would be ready.
Previously Although I have a few trips abroad, let’s say that I scribbled something, although not as much as Deniz’s, since I will write for the first time.. And here I present to you my Ireland Dublin travel guide. I hope I can help those who are planning to travel to Ireland and even think of the idea for those who are not planning.. Also, a blank check is yours for any question you want to ask.. You can use it comfortably. The tour of Ireland begins.
1.Beginning to Ireland
The travel of a typical traveler of Ireland, which has recently been flooded with Turkish students especially to learn a new language, It is clear that he is not at the top of the list.. But even thanks to these language school students, I can guarantee that you will meet a Turkish person almost everywhere in the capital city of Dublin. with historical culture. Although still neighbors with Northern Ireland, which belongs to the British territory, the Irish are quite proud of their independence.
You can feel their sharpening towards the British at every opportunity.. In addition to English, the Celtic language, another official language called ‘Gaelic’, is found in many places.
And the natural beauties of the country, reminiscent of postcards, very well explain the ‘green’ color that comes to mind when Ireland is mentioned.. Add to the maximum greenery you can see in the city, and the sights you can encounter when you travel intercity!
Ireland A very important note about Dublin: Let me tell you from the beginning that Ireland is not just about Dublin.. Therefore, during my 7-day trip to Ireland, where I stayed in the capital city of Dublin, I also visited the must-see places around Ireland with daily tours.. Now it’s time to share it with you! Do not worry ! I have explained them all below.
About the 2nd Irish Capital Dublin
The name Dublin is Dubh (black) and Linn (pool) meaning “black pool” in Irish. comes from the words. Founded as the center of Viking settlements and the capital of Ireland since the Middle Ages, this city (see Wikipedia about Dublin) is one of the most visited capitals in Europe.
The city’s capital city The river Liffey, which runs through its center, divides the city into north and south.. There is an airport in the city, which cannot be said to be a very big one.
My biggest impression of Ireland was the first minute I landed at the airport and it got stronger day by day.. what? ‘People’s visible happiness’!
It can feel like the whole city is trying to please you, with people smiling and greeting you as you walk down the street. you may encounter. Don’t be scared.
It’s not a Truman Show style thing, it’s a combination of people’s inner peace with kindness.. The reflections of this on Irish nightlife are also very pleasing.. You will feel as if you are a native of this city while passing from one of the famous Irish Pubs to the next.
How is the weather in Ireland? When to go to Dublin If you say so, the first thing I will say is that you must go in the summer.. Ireland is not the country to visit in winter.
Because even when you think you are gone in summer, you will feel like winter is gone.. Honestly I can’t think of the real winter. It is possible to meet with the cold wind and rain, while you were burning from the sun an hour ago.. For this reason, starting from the thinnest and dressing in layers and not leaving without an umbrella is the definitive solution.
The ‘tiniest’ detail matters! Because when the sun comes out, don’t be surprised if you see people undressing on the street.. The thinnest combinations are hidden under sweetshirts and fleece.
And in the winter months, the weather in Ireland gets brighter at around 10 am and gets dark at around 16:00.. Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessary.. I went in the last days of July and it was like a miracle that it got dark towards 22:00.
3.Ireland-Dublin travel guide
Europe’s favorite Dublin is known internationally as Europe’s Silicon Valley with its high-tech industrial zones, business and financial centers.. The European headquarters of the world’s most prestigious technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Pay-Pal, eBay, Linkedin are here.
We can say that the majority of the population of around 1 million consists of white-collar employees.. In this city where music and Guinness are a way of life, Irish Pubs, which are invaded by stylish white-collar men in suits after 17.00, are a real socializing place.
How is the visa and money situation in Dublin? Can I go to Dublin with a UK visa? : The currency of the Irish, who take care to show their separation from England at every opportunity, is Euro.. On the other hand, it is necessary to obtain an Irish visa to enter Ireland, which is not among the Schengen countries.. “Can I go to England with an Irish visa?” I think you will definitely ask the question.
Unfortunately, the Irish visa is only valid for this country.. However, Turkish citizens can go to Ireland with a UK visa. It is possible to enter Ireland with a UK visa, provided that you enter the UK first.
“Is Dublin expensive? What are the living costs in Ireland? You won’t have to think hard about ‘Is living in Ireland expensive?. Because Dublin has its own expensiveness.
Compared to European cities, it is possible to say that almost everything is expensive in Dublin, except for their own brewed beers.. At this point, the fact that supermarkets have been turned into mini kiosks is ready to be your savior as you can fill your stomach for cheap.. So long story short: Ireland is an expensive country in terms of living expenses.
4.How to get to Dublin?
Where is Dublin? How to reach Dublin? How to get there in Dublin?
By plane : I went to Dublin in 4 hours with THY. Unfortunately, it has become a very cheap transportation due to the fixed ticket prices, which have not changed much despite being purchased 3 months ago.. In addition, Dublin-based airline Ryanair, famous for its low standards but extremely cheap, organizes flights to Dublin from many centers. You can check the cheap flight ticket articles.
It is possible to travel to Dublin from almost any city in England for an incredible 10-20 Euros.. It is possible to fly to Dublin with 20-30 Euros from many cities of other European countries.. It is also worth noting that. You can check the article about the cheapest airline companies in Europe.
The bus ride from Dublin Airport to Dublin city center is provided by a bus ride that takes 20-30 minutes.. Dublin airport, with its plain and simple structure, will make it easier for you to reach these buses.
Airlink (747) and Aircoach (700) buses are among the most used.. Airlink is cheaper than Aircoach (8/10 Euros), which is 6 Euros one way and 10 Euros round trip, with its more comfortable seats.. Be careful, Aircoach employees are waiting right at your exit point, trying to cut your access to the cheaper Airlink, be careful.. The date is not written on the tickets when the place to get on/off is written; so it makes sense to take a round trip.
If you are considering a taxi from Dublin Airport to Dublin city center, you can tell your destination in advance, find out the fare determined by the taxi driver according to km by navigation, and make your decision.. It costs an average of 30 Euros to reach Dublin city center by taxi. Especially from London to Dublin by train and ferry is 50 Euros and it is used quite frequently.. If you are doing interrail, I would definitely say go by train.. (If you ask what is an interrail, let’s get you to the article what is interrail.)
Dublin City Transportation : Urban transportation in Dublin is quite comfortable and simple. Dublin is a small city and it is possible to reach many places on foot since it is structured correctly.
So much so that I did not buy a bus card for my one-week trip.. Instead, I paid every time I boarded and gave a maximum of 2.70 Euros.. I’ve already ridden 3 times at most.
For transportation in Dublin, you can check out the Dublin city transportation site.. Thanks to this site, it is very convenient to search by stop number, route or address.. You can easily determine which bus number you will take from this site and follow the arrival time from the electronic signs at the stops.. By the way, all the buses used for a handful of population are double-decker.
The drivers of these buses, which usually go empty, drive the buses like crazy.. If you sit on the top floor, you may experience the feeling of tipping over, and if you are walking on the pavement close to the road, you may experience the fear that a bus will hit us.
< While doing
Dublin tour, you can use the Dublin Hop on-Hop off buses and Dublin Sightseeing tours, which attract the attention of tourists in the city.. Prices vary between 10-20 Euros.. I didn’t use these alternatives because I didn’t feel like I had fully visited the places I had not walked through, but they are definitely popular.
By the way, it cannot be said that taxis are cheap in Dublin, which is an expensive city in every sense.. But by downloading the ‘hello’ application like our bitaksi application, you can benefit from a more convenient and safe taxi transportation.
5.What to eat and drink in Dublin?
What to eat in Dublin? What is Ireland Dublin famous for?
The most curious and desired things to discover are the flavors of a country. Places to eat in Dublin are usually cafes with sandwiches, salads, and unfortunately they close early.
After that, pubs or restaurants come into play.. Don’t look for a snack and beer concept like us in Irish Pubs.. You’ll be in the middle like me. Since men like to drink alone, it is good to have something to eat and go.
There is no need for much advice on cafes because they manage to keep the same tastes as if they agreed. You can find good places, which I think are a little more between cafe and restaurant, on Anne Street, which is a side street of Grafton Street.
Irish alcohol recommendations ; Irish Pubs that come to mind first when Dublin nightlife is mentioned; When it comes to Irish Pubs, Temple Bar area comes to mind first.. You can drink it in almost every bar here.
If you want a name, or if you want a name, The Porterhouse, which you can see towards the end of the street, is one of the pubs I remember, because of its cheerful, talkative bartenders who let you test every beer.
In this pub, which is known as the first brewery of , you can try different beers of their own making.. Also, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the live music performances and dance shows at Murray’s Bar & Grill on O’connell Street as an alternative to those in the Temple Bar area. You may find yourself singing Irish drink music.
Oh no, let’s have a little calm, ahh I missed my tea, I missed my coffee and even I missed the hookah.” If you are one of those, there is a place just for you! It is not possible to leave without knowing because this is one of the places that are different when you pass by and completely different when you enter.
You can drink Rize tea in a big cup by paying 10 Euros at the Tea Garden, which you can see when you walk along the river to the west of the city.. The specialty of this sweet place, which opens at noon, is that it has tea from every country.
There is also Rize tea and sahlep for Turkey.. Ohh, longing for hometown in Dublin is announced to those who will stay in Dublin for months for language school! There are also Irish Coffees, of course, but you can also call them whiskey.. You can hardly smell the alcohol in Turkey, you can taste the coffee here.. Because they are as generous as they are kind.
Which restaurant to eat at in Dublin?
Among places to eat in Dublin I pass the restaurants alone. Let me share with you the restaurants I’ve been to and have been extremely pleased with.. Bobo’s Burger and Milona restaurants, which have many branches, are places where burger and pizza lovers can run around.
You can taste delicious meals accompanied by live music at Trinity Pub on Dame Street.. Don’t be fooled by its name and think of it as a pub as I mentioned above, this is actually a restaurant with more popular music and a nice ambiance. I can recommend No Name Bar. I can’t say that dessert has a very important place for the Irish, but Queen’s of Tarts on Dame Street is one of the successful places in this regard.
6th Dublin Hotels
In Ireland Where to stay ? Where to stay in Dublin? As usual, although there may be more suitable places in areas far from the city center, I recommend you to stay in the center to avoid spending most of your trip on the roads.. Both good hostels and places to visit in Dublin are located in the city centre.
Also, it would be beneficial to be close to the Temple Bar Area, which can be called Dublin’s entertainment center, considering these reasons and since the accommodation costs are a bit expensive compared to other European countries (And of course, I follow Deniz’s recommendations. I had my first hostel experience.
Okay, let me admit, I had to look for a hostel! But from now on, I will search for hostels first, it’s clear! I am so satisfied !
Dublin Hostel Recommendations
Since we said we love hostels so much, let’s make some Dublin hostel recommendations. O’connell Bridge is a preferable area for accommodation in order to be close to places to visit in Dublin.
I also stayed in a hostel called Abbey Court, very close to this bridge, right on the edge of the Liffey river.. I must say that I am very satisfied with the daily walking tours (Dublin tour), the super breakfast included in the price, and the various common areas where you can socialize. Abrahams Hostel, Isaac Hostel and Kinlay House. Before you go, you take a look at all these hostels. I’m sure you’ll like it.
Stay under 150 TL per night in Dublin Ireland Unfortunately, it will not be a ‘hotel’.. Hotels are really expensive compared to their services.
The price of the most suitable ones is between 250-400 TL per night.. They are usually located on relatively upscale streets or remote areas of the city.. Hostels are just as diverse and central.. They gladly make you lift at the hostel.. But still have a look at the list of Dublin hotels.
7.Entertainment-Shopping-Nightlife in Dublin
Where to shop in Dublin? What to buy for souvenirs in Dublin ?
What to buy in Dublin? You don’t have to think about it and scatter here and there, and more importantly, you don’t need to be devastated to find the cheapest one.. You ask why? Because as a gift shop, a chain of Carrolls stores has been established, which you can see at every step.
Everyone on the street has the bags of this store in their hands.. You can find basic souvenirs in all their stores, depending on their size.
But the biggest Carrolls is waiting for you to lose yourself in O’connell Street.. Everything you can think of, from magnets to underwear, is available at these Carrolls stores.. Here are the things you should not go without buying souvenirs from Dublin:
- A wide variety of beer glasses and mugs! Of course, Guinnes glasses are my favorite (6-12 Euros)
- Irish Chocolates with Whiskey and Liqueur (depends on the quantity, but the average size is 10 Euros)
- Irish green Dublin printed sweetshirts (20 Euro)
- Own production whiskeys. You can get many varieties for tasting in small sizes.. (Quantity 5-10 Euros)
Grafton Street is the Dublin shopping venue. Famous shops or small boutiques are gathered on this street, which also hosts fun activities left and right.. It is a little more expensive than it is touristic.
Henry Street in the north, which is relatively cheap, is preferred more for shopping in Dublin.. There is also a store called Penny, where many things such as shoes, clothing, bags, accessories and underwear are sold together.. You can see the Primark text on the labels of some products.. So as a segment, our Lc Waikiki is in Defacto setting, but for some reason it seems to be a bit better quality, I don’t know, the decision is yours.
How is Dublin nightlife?
Ireland’ When we think of nightlife, of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the famous Irish Pubs.. But if what you have in mind is the concepts in Turkey, forget it right away because nothing looks like the original except the architecture.
For one thing, they don’t call pubs without live music as pubs.. The Irish pubs we know are the places to have two beers and run home after work.. In reality, adrenaline and music do not stop!
Ireland Dublin nightlife
Temple Bar District; A place where you can feel the pulse of Dublin nightlife, get your fill of the ‘Irish Pub’ concept, where sincere and warm people have fun.. Enjoy walking around like a local rather than a tourist in this region, which takes its name from Temple Bar, which has become the symbol of the city with its red wood texture and familiar pub architecture.. There are so many alternatives to try this bar that is famous for its name…
‘Irish Live Music’ will connect you to it during your stay in Dublin and you will go from one pub to another in this area and try many local Irish drinks and dance wildly. .
Nightlife in Dublin is not just about pubs, of course! The concept of nightclub in Dublin, unfortunately, does not have a European effect. Dublin nightclubs, which have an audience that I can’t believe, can be extremely entertaining without the human profile inside.
When I say profile, I am talking about young people under the age of 15 who are trying to look 40.. These young people, who also show themselves on the streets, are also highly criticized by the Catholic Irish people.
The team I met at the hostel, who came to Dublin from Northern Ireland for one night, couldn’t find what they were looking for from the night club, so they were on their way to the hostel before morning.. Anyway! The place we went One of the famous places of Dublin, Dicey’s Club & Garden. There is quite a difference in the prices of drinks on weekdays and weekends.. Of course, despite everything, we had a lot of fun there ?
8.Places to visit in Dublin
“Where to visit in Dublin? What are the places to see in Dublin? Is Dublin rich in places to visit? What to do in Dublin ? ” The Irish Dublin Tour, which contains the answers to all the questions, begins…
Ireland First note for places to visit in Dublin : Dublin is so rich in terms of places to visit not a place. You will realize this when you have the Dublin map in your hand.. But do not forget that Dublin, which has few places to visit as a work, is located in Ireland, which is famous for its greenery! So let me remind you that the greenery that takes up a large area on the map are wonderful parks that you can’t just look at and pass by ?
Even though I just followed a route of my own accord and just hung out, you guys can plan your Dublin Travel Guide route as follows. Considering both time and ease of transportation, I must say that it is a very good route.
Don’t forget to organize an Irish night in the evening of the days you set aside for the day trips from Dublin, which I will explain below.. Don’t delay because I’m tired, believe me, every evening you spend in Irish Pubs will be enjoyable ?
- Dublin Castle
- Christ Church Cathedral
- St. Patrick’s Cathedral
- St.. Stephen’s Green
- Grafton Street
- Trinity College
- Temple Bar District
<
- Phoenix Park
- National Museum of Ireland
- Old Jameson Distillery
- O’connell & Henry & Talbot Streets
- Howth
- Grand Canal Dock
- Guinness Storehouse
Phoenix Park; Let’s start with the first stop of our Dublin travel guide. They are one of the largest walled city parks in Europe.. To reach this huge park in the northwest of the city, walking from the city center can be a bit of a challenge.
You can use buses 25,26,37, 46A, 66, 66B, 67 and 69 instead.. Unlike other European cities, transportation is preferred by bus rather than metro, but if you wish, you can reach this park by getting off at Heuston Station with the Luas tram.
I suggest you rent a bike and visit this park, which will take 3-4 hours to visit completely.. There is also a large zoo at the entrance of the park, which they highly praise.
I did not visit because I thought it was unethical.. In this huge park, you will have the opportunity to see ducks and deer herds in their natural habitat.. It will be good for you to rest and be full of green while lying on the grass and having a snack.
Continuing from the greens, not without passing Saint Stephen’s Green, Dublin’s oldest park. Enjoy a walk around the huge flower gardens and tiny swan-filled lakes, and relax on the benches or large gazebos.
This park begins where Grafton Street, one of Dublin’s busiest streets, ends.. We can say that it is ideal to meet with the fresh air and watch the swans after shopping.
Grafton Street is a shopping street with many street activities, live sculptures, music and painting artists.. At the intersection of the street with Saint Stephen’s, Dublin’s most famous shopping mall is located.
I don’t think you’ll get into it as someone traveling from Turkey, but there is a high probability of stopping outside.. Because long-running street shows are held right in front of this shopping mall.
I think we watched a show for half an hour without breath.. It was very enjoyable as he chose lucky from the audience and included it in the show.
Henry Street and Talbot Street, located in the north, which can be considered cheaper for shopping compared to Grafton, make O’Connell Street, the city’s famous street, right next to The Spire monument. it cuts perpendicularly from its location. This needle-like monument is 121.2 meters long and is the tallest monument in the world.
You can walk on the vehicle-free cobblestones of Talbot Street, and take a breather at the various cafes and bars on the street.. Free food and drink is given out from time to time right around here.
When I wanted to ask why, I understood that this is something that is usually done.. Everyone who passes by is also picking up and leaving, but neither a queue nor a crowd… Surprise!
Trinity College; Famous for its famous alumni such as Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett, it is one of the best universities in Europe with a deep-rooted history.. You can enter this university with its wide green areas and wander around its campus as you wish.
Trinity College Library is one of the most magnificent libraries in the world with its long corridor and extensive archive! In order to reach the books on the upper floors, a ladder the size of the Dublin Spire is used.. They say the name of the book and the attendants find it and bring it instantly.. By the way, if any book that is not in the library is requested, the library has to provide that book within a maximum of 2 days!
The part of the library called the Old Library is also a forty-year-old hand book called Books of Kells, which has an important place in Christian culture. It is used as a museum where his manuscripts are exhibited.. When you say manuscripts, don’t think of long texts or pencils; It looked quite like painting pictures.
Taking photos is not allowed in this section, but it is possible to find a few examples on the internet.. You can visit this section, which is open every day of the week between 09.00-17.00, for 10 Euros.
Because I am as curious about the school as its library, I paid 12 Euros for a campus tour with a guide and then entrance to this section.. I can say that it was worth the 2 Euro difference as I got interesting information about the university.
St.. Patricks Cathedral; is a very important cathedral for the Irish, which we can define as extreme Catholic; It is named after the Saint Patriarch, who is known as the person who brought Christianity to Ireland.
The day of the Patriarch’s death, 17 March (You can see Saint Patrick’s Day on Wikipedia), is considered the Christian Festival and every year it is covered in green. It is celebrated like crazy by the crowd.
After seeing the magnificent building and its garden, you can visit the interior by paying 6 Euros.. You can easily reach here on foot after stopping by Dublin Castle on Dame Street from the city center.
Ireland Dublin Castle 13. Although it was built in the century, it is known for being destroyed and rebuilt many times.. Since I thought it was enough to see the outside and surroundings of this magnificent castle, which can be considered in the heart of the city, I did not pay 5 Euros to go inside.
However, you can enter until 17.00 if you wish.. You may be interested in Turkish-Islamic manuscripts and Ottoman monograms in the Chester Beatty Library located in Dublin Castle.
After Dublin Castle, St.. Patricks Cathedral, you can visit the Christ Church Cathedral, which is said to have a thousand-year history, which you can include in your Dublin tour route.
The interior of Dublin’s oldest structure, which also has an impressive architecture. If you are wondering, you can visit the cathedral by paying 6 Euros.. As the walking path from this cathedral to the river is the former settlement of Vikings, there are symbols of Vikings along the way.
There are many bridges across the river, but I think the bridge leading to Temple Bar is the cutest and most photographed one.. In the middle of Halfpenny Bridge, there are many locks with something written on them.
People are wishing for something while putting these colorful locks on, it still seems like there is room.. As these bridges, which continue along the river, approach the area called Grand Canal Dock, they start to become very ostentatious and very flamboyant.
There you realize that the profile of the neighborhood has changed.. It turns out that the main centers of technology giants are located in this area.
By the way, since there are not many houses in the center of the city, and the residents generally live on the outskirts of the city, you will see the famous Irish houses with colored doors when you go to these areas.
There are 2 rumors about colorful doors. In the years when Ireland was a part of the British Empire, Queen Victoria declared national mourning when her beloved husband Albert died and ordered the doors of all houses to be painted black.. Those unusually brightly colored doors are the symbol of the city even now.
According to another rumor, which I think is the exact reason, it is a method developed by Irish women to help their husbands find their homes more comfortable after getting drunk and returning home.
Guinness Storehouse; proof that a symbol of a city can be a ‘brewery’. It is one of the top places to visit in Dublin.. Of course, this could only be possible in Ireland, where there is a people who love to drink and always have fun. I don’t know, maybe because I couldn’t warm up to the black beer thing or because I got the feeling that we were visiting a factory after all, this place did not have that wonderful effect on me.
After this tour, where you can get special information about Guinness making by paying 10-15 Euros, you can get your beer served at the restaurant in the building. You can sip at the Gravity Bar with a view of Dublin.
You can be sure that the conversation here will consist of topics such as Guinness color, foam, carbon dioxide ratio, waiting time that you have just become conscious of ?
Another touristic stop of Ireland, famous for its whiskey as well as its Guinness, Old Jameson Distillery. You can visit the factory of Jameson, the most famous of the Irish whiskeys, which I learned has a softer taste because it is distilled more, for a 1-hour tour for 15 Euros, and you can taste your whiskey, which is served with your certificate at the end of the tour.
Although not as famous as Jameson, many varieties If you are wondering about Irish whiskeys, you can visit the Irish Whiskey Museum, located at the entrance of Grafton Street in the city center, for a fee of 15-20 Euros, depending on the scope of the tour.
9. days must stay ?
How many days should we stay in Dublin? The answer to the question is clear: A maximum of 3 days is enough for you to see the places to visit in Dublin and to experience the Dublin entertainment life.. When it comes to Dublin travel plan, you can allocate 1 day for places in the city, 1 day for Dublin walking tours, 1 day for places within bus distance.. But, as I said before, the must-see places outside of Dublin should never be skipped.
I spent 3 days of my 7-day trip out of the city with tours and 1 day visiting the town of the city.. So I had 3 days for Dublin and I can say I used it to the fullest.. I have also explained other Irish cities below.
10.What should not be done in Dublin without being done?
- At this pub and another in the Temple Bar area. without having fun
- With tours or individually, without seeing the beauties outside the city
- Without tasting not only Guinness but also craft beers
- From Belfast’s Rope Bridge
- Without taking a cliffside walk in the town of Howth, tasting delicious Fish & Chips
- Making at least one friend from their super-friendly people and learning a few words of Irish
- I’m afraid I’ll buy two or three gifts at Carrolls. before going
must not return. You can’t get enough of Ireland’s greenery and fun!
11. What route should one take in Ireland? What are the places to visit and see outside of Dublin? How are Ireland tours done?
Don’t look at what I have explained above at length.. As I said, 3 days is more than enough for places to visit in Dublin.. Although I usually like to hang out like a local rather than a tourist, I usually keep my periods long.. But if you spare 3 days, I can say that you will leave with the taste of Irish.
Let’s see, where are the places to visit other than Dublin?” to the question. With Ireland Tours you will meet the real Ireland outside of Dublin. There are many daily tour program brochures in the Tourist Office centers that you can see almost everywhere in the city.
I had 3 days to join the Irish tours that start early in the morning and end in the evening, and I determined the places I wanted to go according to my own taste.
In other words, I preferred nature and landscape-intensive tours rather than places focused on history and artifacts.. The places I will talk about below cover all Irish tours, in fact, only the contents, routes and the times allocated to the regions change according to the tour company.
You can search for the ones that suit you by visiting the tourist offices.. Tours I use: Wild Rover Tours and Day Tours.
You can visit these places, which include parts of Ireland and Northern Ireland, instead of daily tours.. However, it is not possible to see the places within the scope of the tour at the same time due to the transportation lines and voyage times.. For those who want to go on their own, I will also talk about transportation alternatives for tours.. For those who want to determine a route other than this, the transportation site that shows the transportation alternatives, prices and expeditions will be very useful.
If you are a student or if you can still pass off your student ID like me, get your tour tickets at a discounted price.. By the way, they offer language school students a discount on the student price for some tours.. I took advantage of these tours by getting the information (name and ID of the school) of my friends who were students at the language school I met at the cafe.
Wicklow Mountains / Glendalough / Killkenny ( Adult: 33€ , Student: 28€ ) (08.45 – 18.00)
The star of this tour is ‘The Valley of Two Lakes’ It was the Glendalough area, which means. On the way here (Wicklow Way) you witness a wonderful view of the Wicklow mountains.. Bus P.S.. We stop at the area between two mountains called Wicklow Gap, where famous movies such as I Love You, Braveheart, Excalibur, and King Arthur were shot, and take some time to take pictures.
After the sights that become more meaningful with the explanations of our guide, we arrive at the magnificent Glendalough region
In the 6th Century, St.. After touching the cross carved into the wall of the monastery built by Kevin and accepted as a place of cross by the Christians, you can take a walk towards the lakes after you have erased all your sins.
Choose one of the routes determined according to their difficulties. You can get lost in true Irish green around.
This After the walk, we have the opportunity to relax in Killkenny, a sweet and ancient Irish city, after a distance covered by bus.
We listen to the story of Killkenny Castle and spread out on the magnificent lawn in its garden.. We learned that nightlife is also fun in this city where Irish people visit on weekends.. If you don’t go with a tour, let me tell you.
<
If you want to go by public transport instead of taking a tour: although they are close to each other, you have to use a taxi somehow to get to Glendalough and Killkenny on the same day.
This will increase the cost directly, of course.. In these circumstances, the best route is to reach Glendalough first by taking the Line 133 bus from Dublin and taking a taxi (1 hour / 32-43€) from the last stop.. From there you can take the Line 600 + Line 133 buses (4 hours / 35-45€) to Killkenny.. You can also use the Line 600 bus (2 hours / 6-10€) to return from Killkenny to Dublin.
Giant’s Causeway / Game of Thrones / Belfast City / Rope Bridge ( Adult: 65€) , Student: 60€ ) (06.30 – 20.00)
Our undisputed star in this tour, where we crossed to Northern Ireland and sprinted on the British territory without a visa: Do not return from Ireland without passing the Rope Bridge!
While cruising around the Atlantic Ocean, you cross the island separated from the mainland with this bridge made of ropes.. You can see Scotland in front of you when you cross this bridge, which you sway over and startle while looking down.
The height that accompanies the combination of every shade of green and blue will take you to another land.. Being in line at the crossing and on the way back, of course, will immediately connect you with the real world.
The tours are similar to each other, but the contents and the allocated times vary. We are glad we asked and said that we preferred a tour that spares less time for Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, and instead includes a Rope Bridge tour.
Belfast is also a good city, but it is as boring as they say.. Ehh we saw it, you don’t need to spend too much time to see it really. If you want, you can see the place where the famous Titanic ship was built in Belfast and visit the Titanic museum.
The natural beauty of the ocean on the northern tip of the country, Giant’s Causeway. According to the legend, a road consisting of the footprints of giants believed to be the heroes of Ireland during the years of the Irish struggle against the British. and they say it was formed after the meeting of the sea. Of course, it’s up to you to imagine walking on the footsteps of giants in this natural wonder region ?
I can’t help but say that we were disappointed in the part of the tour where we will visit the Game of Thrones set.. The northern empires episodes were all shot in Northern Ireland, but we just walked the road known as Kings Road.
18. It was also enjoyable to see the incredible shape of the trees planted in the 19th century and to walk among those trees, but dreams became a situation of life after all.. Also, wouldn’t people build a gift shop there?
Finding nothing but a tiny keychain sold for 15 Euros while dreaming of what to buy and what to buy didn’t make the Turkish entrepreneurship in one’s mind naughty!
Unfortunately, it is impossible to go to the places covered by this tour on the same day by public transport. Although Rope Bridge and Giant’s Causeway are close to each other, there is no transportation between the two except by taxi, and to go to any of them from Dublin, you must first stop by Belfast.
Transportation between the two countries from Dublin to Belfast is Bus Eireann or It takes about 2 hours by Aircoach buses (13-19€) or by Irish Rail (30-45€). ) it makes more sense to go further because it is necessary to make a few transfers to reach Giant’s Causeway.
By the way, I must remind you that the places within the scope of this tour are in Northern Ireland, that is, England, and I must say that they pass pounds, not Euros.. Do not forget to exchange at the exchange offices in Dublin.
There were also no checks on tour buses, but if you are going to use public transport, I would definitely recommend you to ask if there is a visa check.
Cliffs of Moher / Galway City / Wild Atlantic Way / Atlantic Edge ( Adult: 50€ , Student: 45€ ) (07.00 – 20.00)
We arrive at the Cliffs of Moher region, which consists of cliffs and cliffs in the southwest of Ireland, after a long journey of 2.5 hours.. We walk as we walk in order to see the cliffs more clearly in an icy weather that will make us forget that we are at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. /p>
Since it is extremely cold, we keep our pleasure on the cliff and the ocean short and take a breather in the museum.. We sigh watching videos shot in fine weather on the museum’s giant screen.. Of course, despite the weather, I have to say that it is a place that is flooded by visitors.
After going a short distance by bus, we stop at the Atlantic Edge and listen to the enthusiastic sound of the ocean on the shore of the breathtaking cliff.. You can guess the amazing photos we took. Unfortunately, it is not possible to go to this region by public transport because even tour buses can stop for 10 minutes on this road, which can be called intercity.
Galway City, which we went to at the end of the tour, is a nice transition from Irish natural beauties to local life.. We learn where the phrase ‘lynching’ comes from when we visit Lynch Castle in this city known as Ireland’s cultural city. You can taste the. They call it coffee but it’s actually whiskey. Love to those who can taste coffee!
By public transport, you can reach Cliffs of Moher from Dublin by connecting Line 300 and Line 350 buses (5.5 hours / €16-24). From here you can take the Line 350 bus (2 hours / 8-13 €) to Galway City.. Then you can return to Dublin by bus (23-35€) or train (35-55€) after a 2.5-hour journey.
As you can see, even the most convenient transportation alternatives cost more than the tour cost.. Add to this the more comfortable transportation of the tour and the guide narration, it will be sweet.. But of course, those who want to go to only one region can determine their route by using these transportation alternatives.
Howth (DART train last stop is 6.5€)
Ireland has the beauties I mentioned above. If you don’t have time to see, you can go to Howth, which is the closest option to Dublin among the places to visit.. Find the tourist center at the point you get off the train and get a map of Howth. On this map, you will encounter 3 different walking paths determined according to their difficulties.
During your walk along the oceanfront following the harbor, do not look for any signs because you will not find them.. I wonder if I got lost, did I come to the point where the roads diverged, and the moment you reach the abyss and see the unique view, you will be gone.. I think because of the extreme comfort of being Spanish, he said ‘forget it, enjoy the view’ and he made me walk from a point closer to the cliff and through the woods.
You will complete it in about 3 hours. For this beautiful nature walk and town tour, the weather should not be misty and rainy.. That’s why I can’t say to set the day/time you will go because you can never predict it, but try to set it.
Since you will be hungry when your tour is over, you can taste delicious seafood in one of the cafes in the port.. I was going to go to Octopussys Seafood Tapas for Fish & Chips because I had inquired beforehand, but this became an even more pleasing place for my new Spanish friend.
I ate a Fish & Chips that I have never eaten so fresh anywhere.. I should also add that the tapas got thumbs up from a Spaniard.

13.How much does a trip to Dublin cost?
There was a subtext in all of my posts, did you sense it? Is Dublin expensive? How much budget is enough in Dublin? Here you may have an idea about all these questions.. In fact, I have said it openly, and I will say it again; Friends, Dublin is not a cheap city.
Transportation– Dublin flight ticket prices are generally between 700-1000 TL. If you leave it to the last month, it is possible to see the figures of 2000.. I say get it early.. There are non-stop THY flights with reciprocal flights every day. Pegasus does not fly.
Luftansa You can also try connecting with Air France and Swiss, but there are no very reasonable waiting times, especially on departures.. The most convenient and convenient transportation from the airport is 10 Euros round trip.. There is no need to look for advantageous ticket tariffs for transportation in Dublin, because everything is within walking distance.. Buses are also around 1.5 – 2.5 Euros depending on the distance.
Food– Assuming your breakfast is from where you left off, sandwiches are sold in the markets for 3-5 Euros for lunch and a fast food for dinner. If you prefer a food place, you can close the day with an average of 15 Euros.
It’s still not bad at all.. But the heart wants to try some new tastes and discover different places.. Then you may need to set aside 15-20 Euros for a meal.
Accommodation– I stayed in a hostel for 6 nights for 105 Euros and it was one of the cheapest choices.. Hostels are usually around 15-30 Euros per night, depending on the number of beds.. For hotels, the most suitable ones can be said to be 70 Euros per night.
See my article on Best hotel search engines about finding hotels.
Entertainment– Drinks in pubs are cheap 2-3 Euros. Whiskeys start from 5 Euros and the scale is quite wide.. Entrance fees in nightclubs are between 10-20 Euros, but drinks inside are not exorbitant prices.. Even the cocktails are around 10 Euros.
Shopping– Grafton Street is the best known place for shopping. But in order to find something more suitable, Henry Street, which is known to the locals, is preferred.
So as you can see, Dublin is a very expensive city.. If you are going to tour Ireland in general, you may need to open your mouth a little bit.
14.When to go to Dublin?
When is the best time to go to Dublin? Definitely summer! Even such happy people get a little gloomy in the winter months.. It’s not very pleasant to travel because of the weather that doesn’t open and it gets dark.
Well, considering that places outside of Dublin, especially by the ocean, can be cold even in summer, I would say July-August are the best times.
There’s also March 17th… St. Patrick’s day! The birthday of the patriarch, the arch saint of Ireland, who is believed to have saved the country from the snake invasion, is 17 March.. It is also said that the drinks are almost free. That might sound very tempting to choose that date? and if you want to spare a budget, definitely St.. Patricks Cathedral.
- The National Museum of Ireland is one of the most important museums in Dublin and consists of 4 buildings: archeology, decorative arts & history, traditional life and dead animal museum.. Especially the museum with the dead animal collection can be interesting.
- The city of Cork is the second largest city after Dublin and the city where Ireland has historical texture.. There are also daily tours here, which can be preferred by those who have time.
- You can find the opportunity to make an appointment and visit in advance, instead of watching big companies like Google and Facebook with a sigh.. I have heard that they are very warmly welcomed.
I tried to visualize Ireland, which is worthy of the most beautiful adjectives such as peace, nature, landscape, green, sincerity, happiness and fun, by preparing a Dublin travel guide for you.. Who knows, maybe someone will look for a plane ticket after this article? I hope you enjoy reading. Travel must have something to do with happiness…!
