Karlovy Vary, our first stop in the “Day Trip Series”. It is a retired city due to its calmness, thermal waters and the average age of the people who appear around 65.. The river flowing through the colorful houses is a source of peace.. Of course, you can stay 2-3 days or even weeks in this tiny city, the pleasure is yours.. But I can easily say that you can visit this place in 1 day for the victims who have limited time.. Now let’s move on to the details of Karlovy Vary Travel Guide.

Karlovy Vary Travel Guide

About Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary, also known as Carlsbad, is a city in Bohemia, Czech Republic, with a population of approximately 50 thousand and famous for its hot springs.. Great Roman Emperor in 1370 4. Karl discovers this thermal water paradise, or rather explores the city’s hot springs, and from that day it is known as “Carlsbad” (the king’s bath).. The city’s transformation into a spa and treatment center is 18.. It happens after the century. People come to this city from all over Europe to find healing.. Among those who came to Karlovy Vary, there are also Goethe, Beethoven, Chopin and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.. Since I’m only 29 years old, the details of the spa didn’t really appeal to me.. (I’m sorry when I say spa, aunts with sciatica come to mind)

The city has other attractive features as well.. For example, the colorful houses I mentioned at the beginning of the article.. Although the Soviet regime showed its effects, it was not liked by the Czechs, but the architecture and aesthetic integrity of the houses that have survived to the present day made me pass out as soon as I set foot in the city.. No angle should be in my blind spot, I should be able to see everywhere in the city. I wasn’t the only one fascinated by the architecture, as part of the 2006 James Bond movie “Casino Royale” was shot here.. Another blessing is the famous Czech liqueur, Becherovka, which was first produced here in 1807. That’s why you may come across giant Becherovka models while walking around.. Karlovy Vary is also an important glass and porcelain production centre.

* Car

Of course, another means of transportation to Karlovy Vary can be a car.. But it is not a recommended method, because it is forbidden to use a motor vehicle in the city center (spa area).. In the whole city, you can park only in areas designated as Parking Lot.. In general, I don’t think you will need a car as it is a place you can visit on foot.. (Small note for those who are considering accommodation: If you are going to stay in a hotel in the spa area, if you want to take your car to the hotel, you need to get one-time written permission from the regional police for a fee.)

Brief Short Before Karlovy Vary Trip…

• There are 12 thermal water fountains that you will encounter while visiting Karlovy Vary.. These thermal waters are very healing. It is said that water is especially good for the digestive system.

• The water temperature is different in each fountain, varying between 35°-72°C.. Therefore, the salt and mineral ratios in it also vary.. Therefore, try to drink water from every fountain you see.

• I “I drink water with my hand.” I didn’t buy a porcelain pitcher thinking. Sold everywhere, a tiny thing. You will be comfortable if you buy. Some waters are extremely hot and untouched.

• If you intend to buy glass or porcelain items from Prague, save your enthusiasm for Karlovy Vary. Since it is the center of the business, everything is much cheaper.

• No smoking in Karlovy Vary.

• Karlovy Vary was the only touristic city where I didn’t see any beggars while I was visiting.

• It gets seriously cold in winter. Much colder than Prague. It gets dark around 4am and the streets are empty all of a sudden.. If you are going in winter, you can adjust your return time accordingly.

• I told you that you can easily visit the main places of Karlovy  Vary in one day.. But if you are someone like me who takes 15 photos per step, my advice is to set off as early as possible in the morning.

• In many souvenir shops, you will see products replicating Gustav Klimt’s famous Kiss painting.. One of the painters working in the construction of the Municipal Theater building is Klimt.. He is also the one who paints the curtains of the theatre.

• If you are not an architect, it is normal to hear the word “colonade” for the first time.. Column, in rough terms, is the name given to the connecting columns of straight beams and rows.. Karlovy Vary De also has more than one column. Your city tour will generally pass by visiting these colonnades.

• And my Becherovka recommendations… If you’re going to drink it straight, I recommend the lemon flavored one by far.. It is much better to drink with fruit juice as the standard one is a little harder.. That’s why my favorite is mixed with pear juice.

• You can eat wafer, here it is said to be very well made.. “How good can a wafer be?”
