Bozcaada Travel Guide and Bozcaada Places to Visit

Bozcaada travel guide and Bozcaada places to visit are ready!

Our 2-month Turkey trip is over. Looking back now, two months went by so fast we can’t believe it! Among the things we packed into these two months, we also made an unforgettable Bozcaada trip and we wanted to return to the blog with the Bozcaada travel guide.. Bozcaada means ‘intellectual’ getaways with our university friends, vintages, Jazz festival and unlimited wine.. It was very pleasant for us to return to Bozcaada after exactly 7 years.. Let’s get started with the Bozcaada guide with plenty of suggestions!

How to get to Bozcaada in Bozcaada Travel Guide, Transport in Bozcaada, Accommodation in Bozcaada, Camping in Bozcaada, How many days to stay in Bozcaada, Places to visit in Bozcaada, Where to swim in Bozcaada, Bozcaada We talked about things to do in , how long to stay in Bozcaada and eating and drinking in Bozcaada.

How to go to Bozcaada ? / Transportation in Bozcaada

You need to take the Geyikli ferry to Bozcaada.. If you don’t have to wait in line for the ferry, we think the ferry is quite enjoyable.. The distance between Geyikli and Bozcaada takes about 1 hour and we like to go upstairs and enjoy the ferry..

Bozcaada Ferry Hours and Things You Need to Watch Out for

Ferry times can be viewed here first. Ferry hours vary according to the season.. Even though it switches to ‘takes off when it’s full’ mode at the peak time of summer, if your online reservation is not open or you haven’t made it, the waiting time for the ferry can reach 2-3 hours in summer.. Since it gets sparse in the winter months, you should not go without looking at the clock.. For example, we were naive, thinking that there would be an hourly ferry on Sundays during the pandemic (there was a Sunday curfew at that time), we went to the pier and saw that the only ferry that day had already left! While we thought we were stuck on the island, they put an additional expedition so we could leave the island..

Transportation in Bozcaada

As for the sightseeing part of the island, yes, there are minibuses to the main coves on the island, but these minibuses do not go to places such as wine tasting places and some deserted coves that may be on your list, as far as we know.. If you do not have the opportunity to come by car and you still want to go there, taxi will be an option, albeit expensive.. Other than that, if you have a car, you are comfortable..

We recommend Yolcu360 for those who will rent a car on their way to Bozcaada.. We are very happy with our car rental experience with Yolcu360 and we no longer use any other platform when renting a car, as it shows us the most suitable options in terms of price.. If you are thinking of renting a car in Turkey, we leave the website of Yolcu360 here..

Accommodation in Bozcaada – Suggestions for Accommodation in Bozcaada

For those who are going to the island for the first time, let’s summarize as follows, those who come to the island either stay at the hotels in the center of the island, that is, around the Greek quarter, or go around the island. prefers scattered vineyard houses. If you ask us, they both have different beauties.. If things like enjoying the olive groves in Bozcaada, waking up to the island’s famous sunrises in the morning will give you more pleasure than staying in the center when you step out of the hotel, you can choose to stay in the vineyard house..

We love staying in the center, so we made a choice accordingly and stayed at Taş Ada Bozcaada.. We are very satisfied. The breakfast, the rooms, the location, everything was perfect.. We definitely recommend. We leave your Instagram account here. The vicinity of the Greek Quarter is already very ideal for accommodation..

As for camping, you will see that many people are camping even though camping in the bays on the island is prohibited.. We can’t recommend campsites because we haven’t tried them, but if you want to camp, there are many campsites, Camping Bozcaada is one of the most recommended ones..

When to go to Bozcaada?

Normally, we don’t get hung up on timing when planning a trip, we think that every season has its own beauties, but Bozcaada is a little different in this regard.. Let’s explain the reasons immediately;

If you are going to Bozcaada during the season, that is, between mid-July and mid-August, you have to accept a huge crowd.. He also said that there will be plenty of people on the streets of the narrow Greek quarter, and that the hotels will be almost 100 percent full.. This brings with it things like parking problem, space problem.. If you say that the crowd is not a problem for me, you can go even during the Bozcaada Jazz Festival.. Crowd and fun at that time!

If you go in June, be ready for a buzz-like sea water. Mediterranean waters get a little warmer in June, but the North Aegean is different.. Especially Bozcaada is very very different.. If the water temperature is not a problem for you, you can also consider June when the crowd is less.

If September is the golden time for us.. In Bozcaada, the sea water has warmed up a little, the crowd has become lighter and the places are relaxed.. It looks like the rest of the island is enjoying it..

The winter months on the island are a bit deserted on the island.. If you are going to relax, not for a sea vacation, remember that some places will be closed during the winter period.

Bozcaada Travel Guide – Hap Hap Bozcaada Recommendations

  • Even if you are going in the middle of summer, definitely stay with you. buy something, it will be blowing in the evening
  • If you are going by car, get a beach chair, some beaches may not be comfortable with a towel because they are rocky.
  • Make your hotel reservation in advance – the island is small and hotels fill up quickly as the demand is high.
  • The Church of the Virgin Mary and Bozcaada Castle are worth a visit.. Don’t forget to add it to the plans.

Bozcaada Travel Guide / The Most Beautiful Bays of Bozcaada – A Must Have Bozcaada Activity!

The Most Beautiful Bays of Bozcaada

Let’s go to cove exploration, the number one activity to do on the island!

Since the island is small, these beaches and coves are actually very close to each other.. So if you make a list and don’t like it, or if it’s full, you can go to another beach right next to it..

The most popular dark of the island Ayazma! It’s a huge beach, there is no food and beverage sold inside, but you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas.. Those who go to Ayazma either take their food with them or eat and drink at Vahit’in Yeri right next to it.. Vahit’s place is not for us, it is very crowded and everything is very fabricated, but it doesn’t hurt to try it while you’ve been to Ayazma.. There is also a Korean nearby. We think it is better than Vahit’in Yeri, you can also consider Korean for lunch.

If Ayazma is too crowded or you don’t like it, you can visit the one right next to it. You can go to Sulubahçe. No facilities here, bring your chair or towel and sit by the sea. Our favourite!

  • Ayazma
  • Sulubahçe
  • Aquarium Bay
  • Habbele Beach
  • Tuzburnu and Beylik Bay
  • Ayana Bay
  • Tekirbahçe Bay

Aquarium Bay is our favorite bay on the island, by far! Again without facilities. You need to bring something to eat and drink with you when you come.. Its water is very clear, but also cold, but not as cold as the rest of the island because it has less wind.. Aquarium Dark is sweet.

Habbele Beach is one of the popular beaches of the island. There is a business inside and you can rent sunbeds + umbrellas.. The business also has a place for eating and drinking.. Considering that it will be very crowded in the summer months, it is useful to make a reservation before coming.. We also love Habbele, but as the sea, Ayazma is a bit more beautiful (if we compare, since they both have facilities).

Tuzburnu and Beylik, which used to be very calm on the island but now slightly crowded bays. But there is something like this, there are very beautiful spots where you can get out of the car and swim in the sea while driving from the coast between Beylik and Tuzburnu, they are still quietly.

Ayana Bay and Tekirbahçe Bay two relatively quiet and unmanaged bays on the island. If you want the most calm, you can add these two dark places to your list.. Heh, let’s not forget to write, don’t forget Ataol Beach’, a beach we went to years ago and still love..

Bozcaada Travel Guide – Eating and Drinking Places in Bozcaada / Places That Make an Island an Island

Bozcaada means sitting in places for hours, walking for a couple of hours and sitting in another place again! This is what the island is all about.. That’s why we’re going to suggest a lot of places here so that the fun part is not missing!

First, let’s start with the breakfast part; You will probably have breakfast at the hotels you stay on the island, but if you say you will definitely do it outside, we can recommend Madame Eleni Breakfast House.. Since it is a click away from the center, you need to call in advance to see the availability.. If you want it right in the center, we can recommend Çınaraltı in the EN center of the island.. By the way, we are not kidding, this is already in the very center of the island and you will definitely pass by it at least 10 times.. If Çınaraltı is full, you can try Old Coffee right next to it..

As a coffee shop, don’t miss Brown Roastery, Silver Coffee House and Medium, some of the most popular coffee shops on the island.. Coffee Shelter is also very popular, but it was always very crowded when we went. Orta’s cookies and vegan cakes are also very good.. And Madam’s Coffee for island-inspired Turkish coffee. Even a person like me, who doesn’t like Turkish coffee, will make everyone like him.

Bozcaada’s Best Food Places

Let’s get to the food part. Our two favorites in the Greek Quarter are Ada’M and Neveste. Bade-i Aşk and Sandal are also popular island venues in the Greek Quarter, definitely worth a try.. We ate at Maya Bozcaada one evening and it was truly legendary! Maya has a fixed menu, as of summer 2021, 360 TL per person, including unlimited wine.. If you want a place to go and have a cocktail, you can save Bakkal.

The locals of the island love Yalova Restaurant by the sea, also because it is not in the center. You have the chance to sit on the beach and have a good time.

We tried the meatball restaurant twice for lunch, one was Köftehor and the other was Yeşil Köfte Köfteci.. We both loved it, and the owners are such sweet people.

You may have heard of the famous cookies of Çiçek Patisserie. Really beautiful as advertised. How nice it goes with the island breeze of Madame’s Coffee next to it…

Don’t say if you like everything you’ve tried, of course there are also places we don’t like.. For example Tayyare Pizza. We have to say that we think their pizza is not worth 85tl.

Bozcaaada’s Best Wine Places

As for wine tasting, there are many beautiful places on the island where you can go and taste wine and make homemade wines that you can take home if you like.. First of all, you can register Tenedion Winehouse and Çamlıbağ’ in the center of the island.. Our second favorite is Corvus. Talay Winery and Amadeus are on our list, but we haven’t tried them yet..

For ice cream, you can register Cevahir Ice Cream and Island Ice Cream. Greetings to inveterate ice cream lovers.

Even though there are more unlimited eating and drinking places on the island, we wanted to suggest you our own loved ones.. There is also the issue of sunset, of course, let’s get to it right away!

Where to Watch the Most Beautiful Sunset in Bozcaada?

Sunset and Polente Basket in Polente

Another thing you must do while you are in Bozcaada is to set the sun down at the Polente Lighthouse.. There can be no such sunset beauty! On the way to Polente, you take a wine with you and a snack with you..

Here’s one of the best places to prepare these snacks Boboz. Many places on the island make Polente baskets, but our favorite is definitely Boboz. Even if the sunset is around 8 pm, do not forget to take your basket from Boboz at 5:30 at the latest because it closes early.. If you happen to come across it, you can also buy the gingerbread cookies of Veli Dede.

As a matter of fact, Bozcaada is a place of great pleasure and enjoyment for us, as it is for everyone.. We will meet again next year.

Say hi to Bozcaada for us!

Have a nice trip everyone!
