The Belgrad Forest, which rests on the Black Sea on one side and lies between Sarıyer and Kemerburgaz, is also preferred a lot for picnics as it is one of the last green places left in Istanbul.. There are different nature parks in the Belgrad Forest, which can be easily reached especially by those living on the European side, and these places, which we consider as Belgrade Forest picnic areas, are nature parks.. Although it is forbidden in areas with walking paths, There are many places to have barbecue in Belgrad Forest.
All nature parks in Belgrad Forest are more or less similar to each other, as a result, they are the same forest and there are suitable picnic tables in all of them. There are areas, most of them are free to light barbecues and samovar, except for a fire on the ground.. However, while some have social facilities or buffets, some do not have a place where you can meet your needs.. In some of them, you have the chance to sit by the lakes formed by dams, some places are very organized, some places are limited in facilities such as toilets etc.. For this reason, it is useful to choose your destination in advance and to determine your entrance door accordingly.. Because not all of the nature parks are connected to each other by vehicle roads, or even the ones that are connected make people wander a lot.
Before moving on to the Belgrad Forest picnic areas, let’s say this; We were very undecided whether to write this article or not.. If you ask why, the picnic culture in our country is a bit troubled, when it comes to the forest, people think that they have unlimited freedom; It leaves the garbage everywhere and fills the whole forest with smoke, unfortunately we even saw the one who exploded the confetti.. It was wrong from the beginning to tell about the recreation areas in the Belgrad Forest and cause more people to go, but then we decided to write, thinking that conscious people can go because of us.. We have to argue with someone almost every time we go; those who leave their garbage are shy and when you warn them, they answer that the officers are already collecting it, the security does not say anything to these people.. As a matter of fact, we are writing this article so that you can come and warn us, so that we will not be alone.. We dream of a Belgrade Forest where everyone is respectful to each other, so quiet that you can hear the sound of nature even if it is crowded, and where you can have a picnic without going under the smoke, are we asking too much? Anyway, without further ado, let’s move on to the Belgrad Forest picnic areas.
1- Ayvat Bendi Nature Park
The Belgrad Forest is a national park that we prefer because it is a little easier to access compared to other picnic areas.. Let’s say in advance, we do not go in the summer because one of the most crowded picnic places is Ayvat Bendi. If you are going in summer, you have to go very early to find a table or you can bring your own table/chair and sit in a suitable place towards Ayvat Pond. Of course, do not forget that there is a toilet problem here.
You have to use the road between Kemerburgaz and Çiftalan on the way to Ayvat Bendi.. The road to Belgrad Forest on the road is quite obvious, there is someone selling barbecue supplies at the crossroads.. After you take this road, you will come across two different toll booths on the left, going to Ayvat Bendi Nature Park.
2- Falih Rıfkı Atay Nature Park
If you enter the Belgrad Forest from the right toll booth, not the left toll booth leading to Ayvat Bendi, you will first reach Falih Rıfkı Atay nature park. This entrance is called the Wolf Arch entrance. After passing the toll booth, you have to go a little way, don’t let the dirt roads fool you.. Go as far as Yeni Derya cafe, the picnic area is exactly at this point and the road splits into two.. If you turn left, you will see picnic tables in a wide area a little ahead.. If you turn right, don’t sit at the nearby tables because it usually smells like horse dung in here.. If you move a little further, you will see a much larger picnic area.
There are wooden picnic tables as well as covered camellias here, but you have to go very early to catch them empty.. The only downside is that the tables are a bit bumpy.. By the way, this is not the only way for Falih Rıfkı Atay nature park, you can also reach it from the Bahçeköy gate.
3- Kömürcübent Nature Park
There is Kömürcübent 1-1,5 km ahead of Falih Rıfkı Atay. It stays not only in the direction of Bahçeköy, but in the other direction; To describe it clearly, when you enter through the Wolf Arch gate, you will turn left from the Yeni Derya cafe.. Kömürcübent Nature Park, which is in a location with flat ground and dense trees, is a little calmer in general. However, this does not mean that the picnic area is empty; The places with the tables fill up very early, but when you go a little further, you can find places to sit and picnic comfortably with your own table and chair.
4- Neşetsuyu Nature Park

If you come through the Bahçeköy gate, the first nature park you will see will be Neşetsuyu.. When you enter through the Wolf Arch gate, if you turn right instead of towards Kömürcübent, you will come to Neşetsuyu Nature Park. If you come to the picnic area and say maybe there is another nature park, go to the road on the right, get well soon.. This road is one way and leads to Kemerburgaz – Bahçeköy road, you have to go around and enter through the main gate again.
The biggest advantage of Neşetsuyu Nature Park is that there is a kiosk where you can meet your small needs.. Even if you are on Falih Rıfkı Atay or Kömürcübent side, this is the only place you can buy if you need anything.
5- Irmak Nature Park
In terms of Bahçeköy The first picnic area you come across on your way to Kemerburgaz will be Irmak Nature Park.. You will not use the gates of Belgrad Forest, there is the entrance to the Irmak Recreation Area directly on the road.. There are enough wooden picnic tables at the entrance of the picnic area, which does not have any kiosks or markets.. Also, having a fountain is an important advantage.
If you go back a little bit in Irmak Nature Park, you will see that there is a magnificent view of the lake, this is the Great Bent and there is a 6 km walking park around it.. By the way, it is forbidden to have barbecue at the place where there is a walking track.
6- Kirazlıbent Nature Park
Kirazlıbent, which is just across the River Recreation Area Nature Park is rented by Bağcılar Municipality and serves as a Kirazlıbent picnic area open to the public.. There is a little parking problem inside, but there are enough picnic tables.
You can reach Kirazlıbent by walking a little in the picnic area and you can take a walk by the lake.
7- Fatih Fountain Nature Park
Fatih Fountain Nature Park, which is adjacent to the river picnic area, is a very large recreation area.. There are picnic tables, toilet, water and most importantly a small buffet. The biggest difference from other Belgrad Forest picnic areas is that it has a buffet, but even this causes the crowd to increase, it is useful to consider this when choosing a picnic area.
8- Mehmet Akif Ersoy Nature Park
Different from the other Belgrad Forest picnic areas on our list, Mehmet Akif Ersoy Nature Park is located between Sarıyer and Bahçeköy. In addition to being a beautiful picnic area, it is also home to centuries-old plane trees.
9- Bentler Nature Park
3 of the 7 weirs in Belgrad Forest one of them is located in Bentler Nature Park, hence its name.. Valide Sultan Bendi, Sultan Mahmud Bendi and Topuzlu Bend are in this nature park. In the past, these dams were built to solve the water problem of Istanbul, and now they are the escape point for those who want to have a picnic away from the barbecue smoke.. Because barbecues are prohibited in Bentler Nature Park.. However, there are picnic tables and you can have a picnic without any smoke. >10- Major Fountain Recreation Area
Obviously one of the picnic areas we do not prefer Binbaşı Çeşmesi Recreation Area. Why do you say; It is a neglected place compared to others, and the toilets are not very clean.
