Phang Nga is a region between Thailand’s famous tourism island of Phuket and the other regions Ranong, Surat Thani and Krabi and has the most remarkable natural beauties of Thailand.. To the west is the Andaman Sea, with the islands of Similan and Surin, which are famous for their undersea beauties.
In the south, it is surrounded by Phang Nga Bay with its interesting rock formations, caves and islands.. The bay is home to the most remarkable beauty of Thailand, Ao Phang Nga National Park.. Especially with boat tours from Phuket and Krabi, the region receives a lot of visitors.
Phang Nga Bay, Thailand
Interesting rock formations, caves and one more beautiful than the other. The national park area, which covers more than 40 islands and covers an area of 400 square kilometers, became quite famous after hosting some scenes from the 1974 James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun.
Boats anchor at Khao Phing Kan Island to see James Bond Island, the most famous island of the region, which is visited by millions of tourists every year.. Khao Phing Kan (Ko Khao Phing Kan), one of the islands of Ao Phang Nga National Park in the Andaman Sea, means hills leaning against each other in Thai language. Interesting in itself.
Another island in the national park area, Ko Panyee, is one of the most visited places by tourists.. Once the settlement of sea gypsies who migrated from Indonesia, the island population consists of Muslims. There is electricity and internet in the village, there is even a bank ATM and a football field.
I took one of the buses to Phuket in Khao Lak, where I took my diving course (70THB). I got off at Khok Kloi and bought a ticket for the bus to Phang Nga Town from there.. Tickets are sold at the small bus terminal at this intersection (50THB).
The capital of the region, Phang Nga Town, is not very attractive.. The reason why I came to Phang Nga is actually to see a rock.. Whenever I am researching something about Thailand, I come across a rock with a magnificent view.. Turning my face to the north, I went south again to see this rock.
Of course, it wasn’t just a rock I wanted to see.. This region consists of more than 40 islands formed by interesting limestone cliffs.. This place is also called Ao Phang Nga National Park, which covers an area of 400 square kilometers.
Some of the rocks can reach up to 300 meters in height.. Surrounded by the green sea. When we add the forests, we can imagine the beauty of the landscape.. There is evidence from prehistoric times like 10,000 years ago in this park area.. Ko Tapu (James Bond Island) and Ko Panyi (Former sea gypsy village) are now the most visited places in the park.
After landing in Phang Nga Town Going to Muang Thong Hotel 150 meters away, I met Hashim, who is also the owner of the hotel, one of the 2 solid organizations that organize tours to Ao Phang Nga National Park in the town.. Among many tour options, I chose the one that suits me.
With the tour that will start at 2 o’clock, we will take a boat tour in the national park area (800THB, 46TL) and after the tour in the fishing village of Ko Panyee island. i will stay. This price includes the boat tour, single room accommodation in the fishing village of Ko Panyi , dinner, breakfast and the park entrance fee of THB 200.
From Koh Phi Phi and Phuket Island to here Organized half-day tours are around 2000 Thai Baht (120TL).. We boarded a Thai longtail boat with a German couple and an American. We sailed through mangrove forests growing in coastal and marshy areas in the tropical belt.. In a word, the scenery is amazing.. Cliffs, islands, mangrove forest, sea…
Our boat sailed back through a small bridge-shaped Tham Lod Cave with many interesting stalactites and rock formations on its ceiling.
The scenery became more attractive as the weather started to deteriorate slowly.. The image became mysterious with the clouds covering the islands.. We got off our boat at Ko Phing Blood Island under light rain. The reason we came here is to see Ko Tapu, known as James Bond Island.. Without a doubt, it had one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.
Just across this narrow bay with white sand, it’s hard to take your eyes off this island of limestone rock stretching into the sky.. The island is very crowded, full of many Chinese tourists. They’re running here and there, talking loudly, taking pictures all the time.. You think there is a fair. It was even difficult to find a suitable place and take pictures.
Ko Tapu is just as beautiful in Phing Island, which we are on.. Both the beach we approached by boat and the beach overlooking Tapu Island are magnificent.. Rock formations are also interesting.. The red cliffs, which are perhaps 30 meters long and lean against the back of the island, are interesting in their own right.. After spending half an hour on the island, we went to the Muslim fishing village of Panyee.. I will stay here tonight.
