Oktoberfest – The Bavarian Custom Has Found Its Place!
All About Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest has arrived in Munich, welcome. Good luck to our sentence! Actually, Munich comes to mind when Oktoberfest comes to mind, but we couldn’t write about Oktoberfest, probably because we got carried away with Bavaria’s mountain.. Since you’re reading this article, our Oktoberfest summer is fresh out of the oven!

‘Wiesn” as the Bavarians call it, or Oktoberfest (October Festival) ) tradition; On October 12, 1810, the Bavarian prince 1. It started as the wedding celebrations of Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony and has continued to be celebrated at the same time every year since then, unless there were major wars or natural disasters.. Oktoberfest, which started 180-odd last Saturday, lasts for 15 days every year and is held in the Theresienwiese area where the wedding took place 207 years ago.. Major German beer brands have tents and each tent has a capacity of approximately 7000 people! Hundreds of wedding rings that are taken out and thrown into the pocket are lost while a thousand chickens eat flip and flirt! (The information is from Wikipedia, I swear we didn’t make it up)

The most difficult thing for those who decide to come to Oktoberfest is to arrange accommodation because Munich is really full during this period.. Before we continue with the Oktoberfest details, let’s talk about how to find suitable accommodation in Munich at Oktoberfest time.

Setting up Munich Accommodation During Oktoberfest

Now, let’s say you come to Oktoberfest and although it’s only been 3 months, you looked at sites like booking.com and hostelbookers.com and saw that the hotels/hostels were already full or were overpriced.. So what can you do in this situation?

There is a page on Facebook called ‘Munich International Friends’ used by foreigners (especially students) in Munich. You can start by subscribing to it.. There are students who want to rent their room during Oktoberfest and they post an ad here.. Room prices are usually between 40-80 Euros per night.

Other than that, those who want to rent their room or house for the night during Oktoberfest often place their advertisements on the ‘Wg-Gesucht’ home finder/search site.. Even if you search for your dates on this site, you are still very likely to find a room or house for cheap.

Another possibility is Ausburg, Regensburg and You can check out hotels or houses in Freising and reach Munich by train in 30-60 minutes.. But in this case, you will have to pay at least 20 Euros per person per day on the road.. It is useful to measure the plus and minus.

City Transportation in Munich

Oktoberfest, Munich’s main train station, ‘ It is located in the ‘Theresienwiese’ area near Hauptbanhof’ and the easiest way to reach here is to use the subway line called ‘U-bahn’.

<

If you came to Munich by plane, the easiest way to get from the airport to the city center is the S-Bahn train line, and the S1 and S8 lines both pass through the city center (although they go in different directions).. If you want to get off at the most ‘central’ part of the city, you can get off at Marienplatz. It takes about 30-40 minutes from the airport to the city center by S-Bahn, and on your first day, it is best to buy the ticket called “Airport Day Ticket”, which includes your first daily transportation within the city.. A single ticket is about 12 Euros and a ‘Group Ticket’ version for up to 5 people is about 22 Euros. You can buy this ticket from the ticket machines at the airport and use it for your city transportation until 06:00 the next morning without having to take any other action. Deciding on the places you will visit and then buying tickets. Munich goes on as the zone 1-2-3-4 and naturally the price of your ticket increases as the zone expands.. You also have 1-day, 3-day unlimited ticket options.. Before you go, you can check the prices here, and you can decide which one to buy when you go.. All tickets can be bought from the machines in a snap.. In addition, you can use these tickets not only on trains, but also on other public transportation options such as buses and trams.

While you’re all the way to Oktoberfest, if you want to tour Munich in full, you can reach our Munich travel guide here. Have fun in the rest of Munich too!

What to Wear at Oktoberfest

Speaking of Oktoberfest, traditional Not to mention ‘bavarian costumes‘! During Oktoberfest, the streets are filled with people wearing traditional Bavarian clothes.. Men wear short pants called ‘lederhosen’, women wear colorful tinsel dresses called ‘dirndl’. ‘Front balconies’ must be ventilated abundantly and the hair must be braided from the side!

We can say that 80 percent of the people in the festival area wear this costume.. There is always a pair of ‘dirndl’ and ‘lederhosen’ in the house of Bavarians, while tourists usually buy them from the shops when they come here.. The originals of these costumes are very expensive (starting at 200 Euros), but during Oktoberfest, dirndls are starting to be sold in almost all stores (including supermarkets) in Munich and ‘Aldi’

If you already live in Germany, you can find hundreds of used dirndl ads on this used site. That’s how we did it and we bought one dirndl and one lederhosen for 30 Euros and we liked it very much.

Oktoberfest’s Must Haves

This year we also it was our first Oktoberfest and naturally we ‘put on our holidays’ and took our place! We went twice in 2 weeks with our friends and twice with the companies we worked with and we were very enthusiastic.. Honestly it was exactly what we expected and we had a lot of fun. Still, some things are in our infancy and we’ll crack if we don’t write them here!

It is necessary to go to Oktoberfest on weekdays and early if possible. Many Munich residents only work until noon and go to Oktoberfest around 12 noon.. We recommend that you be at (yes 9:30!) before 16 on weekdays and before 09:30 on weekends because most of the people start entering the tents at this time and around 11 am, the tents are full because the tents are full. they are closing the entrance. On Saturday, 5 people came to the area around 14:00 and we searched for a place in the tents for 2 hours.. At the end of 2 hours, we were only able to find a place at the tables set up outside in the area and we did not get up for another 5 hours! Of course, the job of single friends is easier when looking for a place in a tent, but now we don’t know whether it is a table or a hug in that crowd! Good luck now!

Oktoberfest is open until 10 or 11 pm. Since people are already drunk around 10 in the morning, no one can stay up until 11 am.

Let’s get to the beers drunk at Oktoberfest.. Only 1 liter Mass beers are served at Oktoberfest and no smaller beers are sold. So you can’t say I’ll buy a 50. By the way, these cruel Mass beers are not only large in quantity, but also very easy to drink because of their low acidity and contain more alcohol than usual.. As such, our recommendation is that you do not drink more than 3 Masses in total.. Excuse me, though, Oktoberfest is full of people peeing on the floor, puking on the floor, kissing everyone in turn, falling asleep at tables, and dragging on the floor drunk, and most of them don’t even remember the next day.. So if it happens, don’t panic if you have too much beer, there are probably 10,000 more people like you in the area! After all, what brings people to Munich in droves, closes all hotel rooms months ago, and intoxicated conversations with people you don’t know after swallowing all kinds of beers, and songs that you sing strangely fluently in a language you don’t know? Long live Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest Activities. Are we here to sit down!?

Of course the main activity at Oktoberfest is ‘drinking beer’ but having fun in the amusement park areas set up outside of that, Eating all kinds of snacks and hot dogs from the surrounding huts, looking at souvenirs and touring around is just as fun as drinking beer.. The food choices inside the tents are usually chicken or pork roast, potato salad or cold sandwiches and cheese plates.. Another classic ‘bavarian’ snack is ‘brezel’, which is similar to our bagel, and Obazda cheese on the side.

For those who are wondering about the prices, the price of a 1 liter Mass beer this year was 10 Euros. and the main meals in the tents were between 15-25 Euros.. It is much more convenient to eat at the booths in the area, and hot dogs are between 4-5 Euros and other steak sandwiches between 6-7 Euros.

Another essential part of Oktoberfest is the set spending time in amusement parks! There are so many crazy ‘rollercoasters’ and my science there are tools that flip upside down. Our favorite was the thing called ‘Skyfall’, which went up to about 120 meters and suddenly dropped itself down.. If you are going to ride this machine, we do not recommend that you ride without drinking at all or that you drink a lot.. There is a risk of peeing under the clothes for non-smokers, and there is a risk of vomiting for heavy drinkers.. 1-2 Mass is ideal.

As the last grandmother’s advice, we recommend you to drink at least 1-2 glasses of water before going to bed, after drinking beers at Oktoberfest, swinging from the foundation in the amusement park toys, and going home.. This is our biggest recommendation, especially for those who want to go again the next day, so that they do not experience a ‘headache’.. Of course, we didn’t drink water before going to bed and spent the next day in bed.

Although most Bavarians are proud of Oktoberfest, some prefer to flee to another country for a vacation by packing their swagger during this period and fixing their windows and doors with iron blinds.. Munich really becomes a completely different city during Oktoberfest. Imagine that you take the subway to go to work at 7:30 in the morning and people start to drink beer by shouting at that hour.. Or you come back from work at 6 pm and the head of a man who had passed out on the train is falling on you… It is difficult if you are sober in Munich during Oktoberfest.. Anyway, my dear, let the people of Munich see what it is like to live in a normal world city for 15 days a year!

We wish everyone who plans Oktoberfest lots of fun and lots of crunch! Good luck to our Oktoberfest sentence!
