We were in Belgium 1-2 weeks ago. Since we are not a huge Brussels fan, in search of going somewhere different, we took the train from Brussels to Antwerp, Antwerp, Antwerp, or whatever you want to call it.. You can use all three. We spent only 1 day there and returned to Brussels in the evening.. Therefore, I think I should say in advance that you should not expect a large and detailed Antwerp travel guide.. I guess I wouldn’t have been able to come up with a big and detailed guide even if I stayed for 10 years.
How to Go to Antwerp?
I’ve never thought you could go to Antwerp by plane directly. I do not think so. At least it doesn’t seem like you have such an opportunity in Turkey.. So, you can go to Brussels and from there take the train to Antwerp in about 45 minutes. If your primary desire is to visit Antwerp (which is an interesting request), it is even possible to find buses that go there from Brussels airport.. However, if you are going to stay in Brussels and go there for the day, it is enough to reach the Gare de Central in Brussels, which is exactly there.. Quite close to Grand Place. Once you get there, in case you can’t figure out the logic, let me explain it in more detail.. First of all, from the various screens in the station, you find the time that suits you according to which destination you want to go.. Don’t worry, English option is available. Then you buy your ticket from the toll booths by yourself or by waiting in line unnecessarily, again from the devices in the station.. Then you look at the huge screen above the toll booth, which doesn’t seem to work but actually works like lions, and you find out from which numbered area your train leaves.. When your train arrives after doing all these, you don’t need to try to find a seat number or something like that, you can sit at random.
Ticket prices were around 10 Euros until 2 weeks ago.
Antwerp Train Station
When you reach Antwerp, look around the train station you got off at, because it is one of the most beautiful train stations I have ever seen.. It has a grandeur that I can almost aspire to, “I think we’re going to Hogwarts“. The only information I got about the station while I was there is that it was made in the late 1800s.. Also, interesting things can happen here, maybe you’ll come across:
Meir
If you get caught up in the street in front of the train station, you’ll come across Antwerp’s shopping malls. street Meir will be released. Hundreds of places are available here, including stores you can’t find in Turkey like Urbanoutfitters and Forever 21. Therefore, there are people who come to this city just for shopping.. If you ask my personal opinion, I cannot say that there are very special boutiques or different brands along the street.. However, if you don’t have a problem with ready-made clothing, I think it’s a region where you have a lot of alternatives.. Since it is mostly closed to traffic, you can take your waffle from one of the waffle shops on the street and walk around comfortably.. Moreover, if you intend to return to Brussels or move to another city, its proximity to the train station also provides great convenience in terms of not being tossed around with bags in your hand.
While wandering here, do not just walk on the main street.. Dive into side streets whenever possible. It’s possible that there will be cafes where you can have a snack, and many beautiful streets that we now consider “instagram-worthy”.. So if you’re going to shop, don’t leave it until after 6 pm.. Everywhere is closing, you are left with surprise. Welcome to Civilization.
Rubens Huis
There is a very interesting fact about Antwerp: This is the city of the famous painter Rubens.. Therefore, when you come to Antwerp, it is a mistake to return without seeing anything about it, and when you return, you will have a huge regret.. Rubens Huis, the house where Rubens lived in his time, has now been converted into a museum.. It is possible to see both his works and the items he used in it.. Walking distance from the train station.
Closed on Mondays. The remaining days are open between 10:00-17:00.
Entry is 8 Euros. 1 Euro for being considered a “Young Adult” if you are under 26.
Diamond District
Another thing you need to know about Antwerp is that this small city in Europe It is the capital of the diamond industry throughout. As we understand, read and remember from Snatch, the sector is in the hands of the Jews.. So, if you have a plan like “goodbye guys, I’ll go abroad and buy some diamonds”, it is possible to go to the Diamond District and find something to your liking from all kinds of stores there (or is a diamond seller called a jeweler, anyway).
Grote Markt
As a result of the existence of one Grote Markt in Brussels, where we were before Antwerp, we understand As far as Belgium they like to call their city center “Grote Markt”. (It means “big market”) The Grote Markt in Antwerp, just like in Brussels, is a beautiful square surrounded by beautiful buildings, chocolatiers and lace makers.. It’s probably one of the most famous and touristic areas of the city, so you should know your tourist attraction and not return without seeing it.
Yes, we have come to the end of our fast-paced Antwerp tour.. By typing more than I’ve traveled, “It’s beautiful over there!” Since I didn’t want to make it up, I wrote what I wrote in 1 day here.
