A UNIVERSITY APPLICATION TO GERMANY WITH UNI-ASSIST

Hello everyone! In these days when we are living the first weeks of the new normal after Corona, we asked you what you would like us to write the most, the answer was Uni-Assist university application to Germany. Then come right away! What is Uni-Assist, Uni-Assist application process, Uni-Assist application period and Uni-Assist application documents > everyone who is preparing for a master’s degree.

What is Uni-Assist?

Uni-assist is an intermediary required for applying to some universities in Germany. Used for both undergraduate and graduate applications.

There is such a system in Germany; Some schools accept postgraduate applications directly from their website, or allow you to send documents by direct mail, but some schools direct you to Uni-Assist’s website during the application and ask you to submit your application through Uni-Assist..

You upload your documents to the Uni-Assist system, and the system checks the documents and notifies you if there are any missing documents.. It directs your application to the university when the documents are completed. You can check the list of schools working with Uni-assist here.

Of course, Uni-assist’s system is a bit complicated.. Now we will try to explain it slowly.

University Application to Germany with Uni-Assist – Uni-Assist Application Period

Uni-Assist has application periods. In other words, your application must be completed by 15 July at the latest for a master’s program that will start in the winter term that year.. If you are applying for a program that starts in the summer term, the deadline is January 15..

The process may take a long time. That’s why, considering that there is a deadline on 15 July, I strongly recommend that you choose the schools you will apply to and start your applications at least 3 months before, that is, in April.. It takes a long time to review the documents.. If you have your documents translated from an office with a sworn translator, no extra notary approval is required.. Let’s add this as a note..

How Do I Sign Up for Uni-Assist?

First you register on Uni-Assist’s online portal. After registering, you upload your application documents online here.. The documents required by each school are different, so the documents you need to upload will differ from school to school..

When applying through Uni-Assist, Uni-Assist asks you for 75 Euros for your first application.. Fees are reduced for subsequent applications.. There are even schools that accept free applications, even if the number is small.. You can apply to as many schools as you want through Uni-Assist.. There is no application limit.

There is a very important detail here; For application, you must also send your documents uploaded to the portal to Uni-Assist by mail.. The sooner you do this, the better.. You can send the documents via DHL or PTT.. Make sure to send it by registered mail so that it has a tracking number on it and you can track it.

Also, some universities, such as TUM, Munich Teknik, want to measure your diploma proficiency and want to convert your transcript to the German grading system.. In fact, nothing much has changed for you since you have already included all your graduation certificates and transcript translations among your application documents.. However, this ‘VPD’ takes some time to convert your grading system to the German grading system and your diploma proficiency to be measured by Uni-Assist. It is useful to be psychologically ready for this!

Required Documents When Applying with Uni-Assist

Now, we will not list all the required documents one by one, but there is something like this; there are standard documents required by each school, and there are the most documents that vary according to the school.. There are also documents that vary depending on which country you apply from.. For example, those who will apply from Turkey can find documents specific to Turkey at the following link.

If we give a few important notes about your documents;

  • The document required by each school is different.. Some schools require you to mail the original documents to Uni Assist, while others do not.. Some want additional documents, some do not. While some schools require a translation of the high school diploma, some are content with a certified copy of the diploma.. You should be very careful with this document and carefully review the application pages and carefully adjust the documents to which schools you choose to apply to.. No one else can help you with this..
  • When sending documents by mail, you must send the ‘original’ copy of your graduation certificates and transcripts, not the originals.. At least 2-3 of the student affairs are as originals.
