When you say camping, do you feel a sense of peace and your heart flutters and you hear the sounds of birds, waves or even crickets coming from the heart of nature? Yes, I heard your longing inner voice saying, “How does it sound?”. So, let’s travel together the wonderful camping routes that I personally experienced, where those who love to camp can find new routes for themselves, and those who have never camped yet can’t wait to mingle with nature as soon as possible.
A detailed article about the places you can camp in the Aegean and Mediterranean is waiting for you.
Didim – Aydın
Let’s start from Didim, which is my starting route.. Didim is generally the first stop of those who set out to make an Aegean tour.. That’s exactly what I did. Just as I took my tent and backpack, I came to my first stop, Didim.. oh my god how hot is that. I’ve just gone on tour, I don’t know how many kilos I have on my back, the sun is scorching from the top.. So, as you can see, I started to scorch from the first day, little by little.. When I came here, I had no idea how long I would stay or where I would go from here.
Actually, this is my trip; It was exactly a tour that I decided in the morning, shopped right away and set off in the afternoon.. So I was completely unscheduled. Anyway, what did I do on the first day; I went to Altinkum as soon as I landed in Didim. The moment I saw Altinkum beach, I said, ‘I’ll get lost even when I put my feet in this crowd, stop swimming in the sea, no one can find me’ and after a tour I went to my tent because I was road tired..
On the second day, I left Altinkum and went to Akbuk Bay.. Here I was starting to feel that I was in touch with nature.. I had already started to forget the city by waking up to the sounds of birds and waves, my favorites.. Okay, you got the tent nature duo, what did you do with their needs, right?. Before leaving Altinkum, I bought my food and drinks for a day.. There are no words to say about the cleanliness of the air and the beauty of the sea about Didim.. I started my route by visiting plenty of coves..
Where I pitched my tent in Didim; In Didim, I set up my tent on the Altinkum beach on the first day and on Akbuk Bay on the second day.. Since Altinkum is a beach, there are showers, but there was no shower in Akbuk Bay where I stayed.. I stayed here for 2 days.
Göcek – Muğla
A hidden paradise between unique shades of blue and green, in other words, the elite and quiet port town of the Aegean, Göcek. I turned my face towards the sea, million dollar boats in front of me, villas behind me, my backpack and tent on my back.. After taking a short expedition in Göcek’s small market where you can find many things, we determined the places where we would set up our tent..
Where I pitched my tent in Göcek; There are paid campsites here, but as frugal travelers we set up our tent in a free area, next to a tree in the middle of the bazaar.. We did not encounter any problems as we only stayed one night..
Now that we have set up our tent, let’s talk about swimming in Göcek.. If you ask if there is a place to swim on the shore, we could not find it in the center.. But you can also experience the pleasure of swimming in the sea, by hopping on the paid tour boats from the port and visiting the magnificent bays of Göcek.. Do not return before you enter the sea of Göcek, which is as blue as possible and as clean as possible.. I stayed here for 1 day.
Yeşilvadi Nature Park – Fethiye
We decided to finish this tour without visiting Yeşilvadi Nature Park, which was on my mind for a long time, and set off.. We can say that Yeşilvadi Nature Park, located in the village of Yanıklar, Fethiye, is a hidden paradise.. This is a camping establishment built around a river flowing through lush trees.. I say business, but the prices are very affordable, it has a very sweet manager.. If you want, you can bring your food and your tent yourself, or you can rent it from the business.. Actually my goal was to camp in free places during my tour. In order to give you an idea and to travel more days with a minimum budget.
However, I experienced two exceptional cases, one of which was going to Yeşilvadi Doğa Park.. But please, how could I cross this place without getting on the swing that swings towards the river?. Here is the part that attracted me the most was this famous swing.. Since this is one of the places I want to see, I decided to go even for 1 day.. I’m glad I didn’t miss it. It’s such a peaceful place, full of green trees and the sounds of birds chirping constantly.. The icy and clean river coming from the mountains almost completes the nature picture we drew in our childhood..
Where I pitched my tent in Yeşilvadi Nature Park; Wherever you set up your tent here, you will definitely have a view of the river.. You can cross both sides by using the wooden bridge built over the river flowing in the middle.. I set up my tent anywhere with a view of the river.. After setting up my tent, I took a deep breath and stretched my feet towards the ground, watching the ducks swimming in the river for minutes..
A little reminder; Even if you are in the middle of summer, you will encounter a little coolness in the evening because it is by the river.. This coolness will show itself a little more at night, so I suggest you go prepared..
Because it is a business, there is a shower, toilet and restaurant.. Lastly, I stayed here for 1 day.
Calis Beach – Muğla
Calis Beach was another place we didn’t want to go without seeing because we heard too many texts.. However, I can say that it did not meet expectations.. It has more pebbles than sand and has a rippling sea after noon. If you are on your transit route, you can stop by to rest, but frankly, I don’t think it’s necessary to come.. The beach is located very close to the city center and is free, that is, a public beach..
Where I pitched my tent on Calis beach; We pitched it anywhere in the middle of the beach. I can only remember one joy about this place, waking up to the sound of the waves is an invaluable pleasure for me..
I stayed for 1 day.
Oludeniz – Fethiye
Oludeniz, which has become a favorite of tent holidaymakers in recent years, will always be crowded whenever you go during the summer period.. The Lycian Way, which is seen as one of the best walking routes in the world, starts from Ölüdeniz.. At the same time, this is a place where those who want to do paragliding often come, I haven’t been able to do it yet, but I will try it at the first opportunity.. So you will understand that your days will be full while you are in Ölüdeniz.. By the way, I don’t know if I need to tell you the magnificent beach, the only negative aspect is the crowd, if you get the opportunity, don’t go back without sunbathing.. I say.
Where did I set up my tent in Ölüdeniz; You will definitely see the area where the tents are when you come here. The very end of the Blue Lagoon part. I set up my tent under the trees for two days and on the beach for two days.. You can install it anywhere you want in this section.. However, if you can find a place under the trees, I recommend you to grab it immediately, for shade in the morning.. There is no problem in camping in Ölüdeniz in the evenings, but in the morning the police come and collect the tents.. After a few hours, you can set up again and continue your tent life from where you left off.. We experienced this situation only once during the four days I stayed there, and we made use of this void by swimming in the sea..
We met our shower and water needs in Ölüdeniz from the showers on the beach.. We met the toilet and charging problem from the cafes or paid public toilets.. Yes, now, finally, let me clarify your question marks about shopping.. Before you come to Ölüdeniz, make sure you do your shopping so you can protect your budget.. You will not go hungry here, there are many businesses around, but everything is quite expensive because it is a holiday resort.. Therefore, do your shopping in Fethiye center before coming to Ölüdeniz.. You can find campers-friendly bim or a101 markets in the center of Fethiye.. I stayed for 4 days.
Kabak Bay – Muğla
During my tour, Kabak Bay is one of the two places where I enjoyed the most, had the most fun, blended into nature and experienced the best of everything.. I don’t know if it’s its mystical atmosphere or its natural state, whether it’s people’s disregard or not, but Kabak impresses me a lot.. It has a special place for me. As soon as I arrived at Kabak Bay, I threw my slippers aside and mingled with nature.. Isn’t nature our essence, believe me, it is not difficult at all to be intertwined with the soil.. All negative electricity was thrown to the ground. The natural life is adopted here, even the light does not turn on, it is pitch dark at night.. I’ve spent 4 days in this different world, if it’s not enough, I’m already making new plans to stay longer.
There are two ways to go up and down the pumpkin; First of all, there is a path that is not very easy, you either use that road on foot or there are paid shuttles, you get on them.. Unfortunately, you cannot get down to the bay with your private vehicle.. Both the roads are quite bad and difficult, and you are somehow blocked by the shuttle drivers.. This is how it was when I went. As for the shopping part, I definitely recommend that you do your shopping and come to Kabak Bay if possible.. There are markets and restaurants in the bay, but the prices are quite high because it is far from the center of Fethiye and the roads are difficult.. Bringing at least what you can carry will be beneficial for your budget.
Where did I set up my tent in Kabak Bay; There are free areas as well as paid camping areas in Kabak.. You can set up your tent wherever you want in free areas without any problems.. During the four days I’ve been here, I’ve always pitched my tent in the free areas.. Two days to a place in the forest and the other two days to a place on the hill that sees the bay.. Just like in Ölüdeniz, your tent may be collected by the gendarmerie some mornings.. Don’t be in a rush, you can set them up again right after they’re gone.. There is a beach, shower and toilet in the bay, no fountain.
Do not return without doing it; I recommend that you do not return without taking a walk towards the Aladere waterfall, going to the blue cave, and witnessing the shooting stars one evening on the beach.. I stayed for 4 days.
Saklikent Canyon and Secretkent Waterfall – Fethiye
As the name suggests, it will be a hidden canyon, let me open it by saying. It is an amazing experience that Saklıkent Canyon, which welcomes you with its calm waters, gives you a moderate adrenaline as the conditions get tougher as you progress.. Towards the end of the canyon road, where we can walk even with children, the water level can rise up to your height.. Even in the middle of summer, I miss its cold water that will make your feet numb.. The entrance fee was a reasonable 10 TL per person..
Where did I set up my tent in Saklıkent Canyon; I asked a restaurant to run our tent in Saklıkent and put it in its garden. we established. However, if you want, you can also choose a paid camping area of 30-40 liras right next to the river.. There were no showers, toilets or fountains where we were.. We met our fountain needs from the restaurant and our other needs in Saklıkent canyon, where we spent our time until the evening hours.. We did not need to take an extra shower as we encountered the waterfall when we proceeded to the end of the canyon..
Gizlikent Waterfall is only 2 km away from Saklıkent Canyon, and of course, is it okay to go and see it?. After staying one night in Saklıkent, we packed our tent early in the morning and hit the road again.. This time the direction is the Secretkent Waterfall.. After a brisk walk, we arrived at our destination in a short time.. Since we went early, there weren’t many visitors yet.. We took this opportunity and immediately threw ourselves into the magnificent nature walk.. Our road was so beautiful that everywhere is full of vivacious green vines, my feet are completely in the water, I am walking between the stones, on the other hand, bird chirping accompanies me by my ear.. I stopped for a moment, closed my eyes, the icy water flowing between my feet, the smell of greenery… yes, I am here now and it made me say that I am very lucky.. I took a deep breath and kept walking..
By the way, there is a surprise waterfall at the end of the road, and it’s not a small waterfall, just so you know, don’t turn halfway It’s a place of complete rehabilitation relief, but you go early, like us.. We did not set up a camp in Secretkent, we continued on our way.. I stayed for 1 day.
Dalyan – Muğla
Dalyan became my resting point by listening to the peace. I came here in the middle of my trip when I was quite tired.. I spent my days in Dalyan in relaxation mode by camping at Ekin cottage and using the pool in the garden.. This is a place where you can rest your soul with the Sülüngür Lake on one side and the mountain scenery on which mountain goats roam and the clean air on the other.. Quiet and peaceful. The world-famous Iztuzu Beach, where the rehabilitation centers and spawning areas of caretta carettas are located, is about half an hour away.
In Dalyan where I pitched my tent; I set up my tent in the garden of Ekin cottage in Dalyan, with the view of Sülüngür Lake. Since this is a business, there is a restaurant, shower, toilet and fountain.. You can get your food needs before you come, or you can meet them as a meal prepared from the business.. If you say okay, we will take care of the food, is there no market, yes there is no market nearby, there is only a small grocery store..
I stayed for 7 days.
Koycegiz – Antalya
I thought it was necessary to spend time in Köyceğiz, which is near Dalyan.. A town-like bazaar with the beauty and calmness of its nature.
Where I pitched my tent in Koycegiz; I set up my tent on the shore of Sülüngür Lake in Köyceğiz. We did our shopping in the bazaar, guessing that there was no market in our area.. There was no shower, there was a toilet.
I stayed for 2 days.
Kaputaj Beach – Antalya
Yes yes sea in the color you see on social media posts, a turquoise feast literally 🙂 This was the first question I had in mind about Kaputaj before I went and saw it, ‘Is the color of the sea really that vibrant?’. It was about to get dark in the evening when we went to the gate of Kaputaj Beach with our bags on our backs.. We didn’t know if we’d be taken to the beach. In fact, if we are not sure of the place where we will set up our tent, we should not be left in the dark, but we only caught up.. We were there before it got dark. Fortunately, we asked the Kaputaj Beach guard and he took us in with his good intentions.. Otherwise, in the dark and with that tiredness, we would look for another place to set up our tent.. Okay, we found a place for our house tonight, in a legendary place, of course, there was no one happy with us..
When we landed on the beach, it was quite dark, we set up our tent, sat on the pebbles, sipped our hot chocolates offered by the brother on duty while we were getting rid of our tiredness with the sound of the waves.. This time our house was on Kaputaj Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Turkey.. It was our first time to Kaputaj and it was getting dark, so we couldn’t explore it in detail.. We were getting more excited as we thought of the view we would encounter in the morning.. After we ate something, we slept in our tent, which we set up on the pebbles, without finding our place strange..
When we woke up, we saw that everyone had already come to the beach, and the first thing we did was to pack our tent.. After swimming in and out of the sea, we took a shower, while we were looking to see if we could eat something different for breakfast, we found ourselves eating the treats made by the pancake aunts in the establishment.. I’ve met so many good people that I’ve never been in a position to have any major difficulties on the roads.. I got through the little troubles with the help of such big hearted people.. Since Kaputaj Beach is a business owned by the municipality of Kaş, everything you can meet your needs is available in the shower, toilet and restaurant..
Where I pitched my tent on Kaputaj beach; I set up my tent on pebbles on the beach in Kaputaj. In fact, camping is not free here, we were able to enter upon request.
I stayed for 1 day.
Kaş – Antalya
I see how positive it is in terms of camping. Kas was the place I understood best. I went on the eve of Eid-al-Adha and entered the feast in Kaş.. To be honest, it was unbeatable for me to stay free of charge in the popular holiday destination where many hotels have skyrocketed their prices, as well as during the holidays.. Swim in the magnificent clear sea of Kaş, sunbathe, take a shower, dress in your tent, let the breeze dry your hair. Go out with your light tan and swing through the streets of Kaş. It’s like I’m reliving as I write. You can easily find many things you are looking for in the markets and restaurants in the center of Kas.. The places where I camp are very close to the center.
Where I pitched my tent in Kaş; In Kaş I did my camps in two different places. One of the places where I set up my tent was İnceboğaz and the other was Büyükçakıl beach.. You can easily use the beach at the entrance of İnceboğaz and Büyükçakıl Beach as they are public beaches.. You can meet your shower and toilet needs on these beaches..
I stayed for 4 days.
Pirate Bay – Antalya
The view of my tent was the turquoise sea, lush green trees… Yes, the nature of every place I went along the Aegean Mediterranean was magnificent, but Pirate Bay was wonderful. ‘s water was more turquoise. Let me tell you about the Pirate Bay, which is another place that I enjoyed the most during my camping tour, where I lived a camp life for 16 days and I wish I had stayed a little longer on my way back..
The Korsan Bay, which is about half an hour’s drive from Olympos, attracted me and my friends with its magnificent nature.. What was I doing in Korsan, where I stayed for 16 days?. I was waking up to the sound of waves and birds in the early morning routinely every day.. Most of the time, I was opening my eyes directly to the sea because I just closed the mosquito net and went to sleep.. The first thing I did after getting out of my tent was to swim in the sea, what could be better than opening my eyes in the sea in the morning?. Then I took my shower and had my breakfast.. While I was packing my breakfast, I was sitting and reading my book for hours after cleaning the area to collect the garbage around.. While I was turning the pages, I was taking a break for a few seconds and watching the magnificent view in front of me, and I was grateful for being able to realize those landscapes at that moment. I waited for the time to sleep. While camping, I feel so much belonging to nature, trees and soil that I was extremely surprised at my first camp, and then I said ‘it should definitely be my lifestyle’ about how I adopted it so much.. Anyway, let me tell you how you can do shopping at Korsan.. There is no general shopping place in Korsan Bay, there is a small grocery store, so I recommend you to come and do your shopping from a central place, for example, Kumluca..
Where I pitched my tent in Pirate Bay; I pitched my tent near the sea in Pirate Bay. When you go, you will see many campers already, and you can set it up in a place you see fit.. There is a shower, toilet and fountain.. I used the fountain as drinking water for days and did not encounter any health problems.
Do not return without doing it; Don’t come back without taking a walk to Gelidonya Lighthouse, which is about 2 km away.
I stayed for 16 days.
Salda Lake – Burdur
We used to call it Turkey’s Saldives, I guess not. mi. We said, “Would it be okay to go back without seeing Salda,” and set off.. First of all, if you say Salda’s color is really like we see on Instagram, let me answer you right away.. Yes, it has a very beautiful turquoise color, but it is not like in the photos with exaggerated edits.. There’s no need to fool anyone. In Salda, which gets a lot of sun during the day, it gets cold at night even if you are in the middle of summer.. As a person who gets cold in Salda in August, I suggest you take your precautions and go.
Where should I put my tent in Salda Lake? I set up; I pitched my tent anywhere by the lake in Salda. Here you can camp in paid camping areas, or you can do it for free on the shores of the lake.. I couldn’t take a shower because I stayed for 1 night and left early. There is a public toilet.
I stayed for 1 day.
The thing I fear most is to cause bad things while sharing such useful information.. Please, dear friends, let’s protect those lush trees, let’s try to make our camp without burning fire, if you’re burning it, put it out, make sure it’s gone out, and don’t pollute the environment, please.
