The weather got cold, “Look, which provinces are affected by the severe cold and snowfall from Siberia?” If the news has spread out, and the Dollar and Euro have taken over again, it’s time to write down the subject of series recommendation, which I often voiced in my friend chats.. None of the series, which I have divided into 5 different categories according to myself, are not discovered by anyone, but when I want to criticize them, I can not easily find an interlocutor.. Of course, I only compiled what I followed with great pleasure.. Although most of these series that I recommend are still on air as of 2017, I couldn’t help but add some outdated ones.. If you wish, you can also add your comments and suggestions.
(I wrote this article in 2017, of course my comments in 2020 have changed.. I’ve added my little notes to the “update”.)
Foreign TV Series Recommendation #1 Those who made them watch without contributing a gram
* Bored to Death (IMDB: 7.9 / 2009-2011)
I don’t know if it’s because I realized that although it’s a very old TV show, in a way that I can’t understand, most people haven’t even heard of it. I say > because it is one of the productions that made a throne in my heart.. An HBO series about a troubled writer who becomes a private detective out of boredom and gets involved in absurd events.. Episodes are around 25-30 minutes, the subject is flowing like water.. For the first time in my life, I felt like hugging a TV show and pinching his cheeks, like cotton candy.
* Wilfred (IMDB: 7.8 / 2011-2014)
Wilfred has a strange subject that may cause you to be biased. There is a man in front of us who started to communicate with the dog he met when he was depressed, and the whole series is about what the couple went through.. The strange part is that we see a person dressed as a dog instead of a dog.. I like this typing too much and I’m not alone in this.. Namely; Wilfred originally an Australian drama, name in dog clothing is Jason Gann. This type of character was very popular in Australia, but it was adapted in the USA with the speed of light, but the same name in the guise of Wilfred Just the Elijah Wood we all know is added next to it.. Wilfred‘s self-confident demeanor, silly dog reactions that she gives out of the blue among her wise statements, can especially amuse dog owners.. The 20-minute episodes are watched at once.
* Dirk Gentley’s Holistic Detective Agency (IMDB: 8.3 / 2016-2017)
Elijah I’m not a fan of Wood, I don’t even like him very much, but I give some advice on a series he played: Dirk Gentley’s Holistic Detective Agency. Adapted from the famous author Douglas Adams‘s book of the same name, the series is a complete mess from start to finish.. The first 5-6 episodes look blankly and say, “What the hell?!” You are more likely to react. My favorite part of the series is that I watched it while trying to solve the chaotic sequence of events, without even being a little nervous, even bursting out laughing in between.. I didn’t even realize how the 60-minute episodes ended.
* Californication (IMDB: 8.3 / 2007-2014)
Having 7 full seasons Californication follows the life of a charming writer. It is a series in which topics such as love, marriage, sexuality, business life, entertainment, friendship are treated at a level that can be dramatized from time to time.. Especially when the song “Rocket Man” comes into play… Don’t be fooled by what I call drama, of course, it’s definitely not a sad production.. It may be one of the series that most deserves the title of “crispy snack” with its 20-minute episodes.. There is a possibility of disturbing as many events take place at the extremes.. Other than that, it’s ideal for distraction.. If you want to watch something to clear your mind while having dinner after a busy and stressful day, Californication is a savior.
Foreign TV Series Recommendation #2 Period TV series in the taste of true stories
* Peaky Blinders (IMDB: 8.8 / 2013-…)
What a charismatic man you are Cillian Murphy! “I don’t really like it, but let’s give it a try.” British TV series Peaky Blinders, 1. It takes place after World War II and is about the life of a mafia family.. It’s a great series reminiscent of The Godfather, with great acting, the script flows, we watch until our eyes are closed and of course we get up with the music of Nick Cave.. “By the order of Peaky Blinders!”
Update: It was watched 3 years ago, but it was not such a popular series.. I guess we all know now
* Vinyl ( IMDB: 7.8 / 2016)
While patiently waiting for the second season to arrive, the HBO series we learned was canceled. In a very simple explanation; What Mad Men is to the advertising industry, Vinyl is to the music industry! But it is impossible to understand, somehow this series did not catch on. I still can’t help but add it to my recommendation list. Even if the story is not exactly true, events that are likely to happen from time to time appear in the series; Surprise names like Andy Warhol appear.. If you like rock music, I think you will enjoy watching it.. (On this occasion, I have also recommended Mad Men to those who have not watched it yet.)
Foreign TV Series Recommendation #3 Mini-series that will end in one day
* 11.22.63 (IMDB: 8.2 / 2016)
When I was in high school, one of my favorite authors was Stephen King but after that I stopped reading. Mini-series based on a Stephen King novel that I didn’t read on 11.22.63. We watch the story of a man who went back in time and tried to prevent the Kennedy assassination; James Franco starring. A very realistic fantasy story is told in a way that sounds like a Stephen King cliché.. The series ends in one breath, without stretching it too much.
* The Sinner (IMDB: 8.1 / 2017)
The lead role is Jessica Biel one day out of the blue she kills a man on the beach and the whole show is spent figuring out why she did it. It’s a wonderful 8-episode mini-series that kills me while I’m stretching, with heavy psychological details, some scenes are disturbing but still made me finish it within 24 hours.
Update: This series has a sequel.. Each season, a different case is solved.. I haven’t watched the new seasons yet.
Foreign TV Series Recommendation #4 Those who regret that I started
* Suits (IMDB: 8.6 / 2011-2019)
If I need to describe Suits roughly; about the lives of cool lawyers at a law firm and how they solve a number of cases with their wits. I’ve been following this series closely since it first started, I think the first seasons are definitely among the legends.. It’s running so exciting that I’ve been biting my nails while waiting for the next episode. But the problem is that the series didn’t end at the point where it should have ended.. especially 6. After the season, it was a disaster, but as I adopted the characters, I couldn’t bear to leave the show halfway, it stuck to my body like a parasite.
* 13 Reasons Why (IMDB: 8.4 / 2017 – …)
I don’t like serials that bore me too much. 13 Reasons Why is one of them.. Come see that the series is really gripping, the details hit like a slap. Psychological drama in which I find a piece of myself from time to time, even if the characters are in their teenage years.. I do not recommend that depressed and pregnant women watch this production full of flashbacks, where a young girl who committed suicide tells about why she did this in the tapes she filled in. I want everyone around me to have watched this series, our body also needs drama.
Update: After the second season, I decided not to watch it.. It’s too heavy. We had received the messages we needed to receive, I didn’t know if it needed to be extended.

Foreign TV Series Advice #5 The place of justice those who are eagerly waiting for it to find it
* American Crime Story: The People vs O.J Simpson (IMDB: 8.5 / 2016-…)
I’m not old enough but our elders remember very well the famous American football player O.J Simpson who was accused of murdering his wife and his case. The first season of American Crime Story follows this murder case from start to finish.. Not only does the story tell an event that happened exactly, but the actors in the series are also similar to those in real life.. Contrary to works where it is generally emphasized that black people are wronged, in this series we see that justice is on the side of money, not black or white.. A work to watch despite John Travolta, who can’t make facial expressions from Botox.
Update: A separate lawsuit is the subject of each season of American Crime Story.. Season two about Versace’s carnage is also among our favourites.
* Bosch (IMDB: 8.3 / 2014-…)
Lost in the lead role Titus Welliver, whom I know from , plays a rebellious detective who is indispensable in American detective series.. But the series flow in Bosch is a little beyond the standard detective thrillers, the characters are very natural.. They’re trying to solve a certain case for a season without trying to create a superhero.. A gripping detective series with the consistency of True Detective but much more active.. With the influence of the actors, I felt more like The Wire.. (My special request: If you haven’t watched The Wire, I highly recommend that you start it before the dramas on this list.)
* Billions (IMDB: 8.4 / 2016-…)
A man who earns millions of dollars from free funds -not legal ways- and an obsessive prosecutor who has made finding this man’s deficit his only goal in his life… The events that leave our mouths open in every episode… Not only the main roles, but also the side characters. Billions, in which the characters shed their dialogues and acting, is one of the most enjoyable TV series I’ve watched recently. I think you’ll love Damian Lewis vs Paul Giamatti too.
