Oslo to Flam
Oslo to Bergen we will use both train, boat and bus. We arranged it all online before we came here.. And our tickets were already mailed to Istanbul.. I have a feeling that this will be the most enjoyable part of our trip…
We start our journey by taking the train from Oslo. The train journey takes 4.5 hours in total, with 2 stages.
The first stage is a very enjoyable train journey between Oslo – Myrdal.. The view is great. This railway line was built between 1894 and 1909 and is approximately 500 kilometers long.. Rivers flowing along the train tracks, a lush nature, waterfalls flowing from the mountains are our companions.. There are colorful typical Norwegian houses with one or two floors, very well-kept, steep roofs, hidden in the scenery that we can’t get enough of watching.. We pass through towns and villages where these houses are located.. All the houses are newly painted, and we have not seen a single neglected house.
Finse
The Norwegian people are very respectful to nature and people.. Our first stop is Finse, the highest point of the journey… Finse is 1,222 meters above sea level. Here we get off the train and take pictures of the 3 glaciers standing in front of us.. The Hardanger glaciers we see here are 6 in Norway.. great glacier mass. The height of the glaciers above sea level is 1,840 meters. After recording these glaciers on our lenses, we get on our train and continue our journey. .
The train journey between Finse and Myrdal and Flam is described as the most enjoyable train journey in the world.. First of all, we go from Finse’ to Mydral with magnificent views.
Myrdal
Myrdal is a settlement at an altitude of 862 meters from the sea.. Here we take a smaller train. We will descend to Flam, which is located 2 meters above the sea, with a 30-kilometer train track, by constantly losing altitude.. This is the world’s steepest train track. We pass through many tunnels. Approximately 6 kilometers of the 30 kilometers of railway is tunnels.. These railroads and tunnels were built entirely by human hands between 1940 and 1944.
The first stop on the road is Vatnahalsen station.. There is a hotel here that dates back to 1896.. This hotel used to host tourists coming for a walk.. It started to serve as a sanatorium after 1954.. We start the descent by following the magnificent nature along the way.. Many large and small chains of waterfalls accompany us.
The train stops in Berekvan.. We see the Kjobgosten waterfall pouring from a height of 94 meters. We get off the train and watch this magnificent waterfall.
At that moment, beautiful music echoes in nature.. With this music, we are watching the dance show of a dancer girl appearing through the rocks.. 2-3 girls with the same size and hair color wore the same clothes. While dancing among the rocks, it suddenly disappears, giving the impression of falling behind the rock.. At that moment, another dancer lady continues to dance on the waterfall.. This person gives the impression of suddenly falling into a waterfall, another girl appears on another rock and continues dancing. It creates the impression that a single dancer suddenly falls and continues to dance on the other side.. The music, dance and scenery are amazing. It’s worth going all this way just to watch it.
Norway is called “the land of waterfalls” and it deserves this name fully.. Along the way, we saw countless waterfalls with abundant flow, pouring from 80 meters, 100 meters and 140 meters. roofed, well-kept Norwegian houses… And of course, the reverse of this view on the water, all in one frame. It was a perfect trip…For a lake view stay in Flam, you can choose the Flåmsbrygga Hotel and the Flåm Marina & Apartments.
Flam
After completing the first stage of our journey from Oslo to Bergen between Oslo – Flam, where the train leg is more dominant, Flam’ we reached strong>. About 400 people live in Flam. However, the annual number of tourists is around 300,000. The first tourist to Flam was in 1886.

We have the opportunity to visit this small settlement, albeit for a short time.. The whole town is made up of small single or double storey houses painted in pastel tones.. There is also a small church here.
There is a large restaurant and many souvenir shops in the area where we will board the boat.
Flam-Bergen
After walking around a bit, we get on the boat from Flam. We’ll roam the fjords. The fjord we will visit is the Sagne Fjord (Sognefyord), which is known as the “King of the Fjords”.. According to some sources, this is a big fjord with a length of 250 kilometers and according to some sources 204 kilometers.. Sagne Fjord is “Y” shaped, one end is Flam and the other end is Gudvangen.. We will embark from Flam and disembark at Gudvangen.
This fjord was formed 2-3 million years ago, after the ice age, with the thawing of the glaciers.. Its deepest point is 1,300 meters.. Although the weather is sunny, it does not get very hot due to the slopes extending perpendicular to the fjord, and as the boat moves, the wind intensity increases.. But the view is so impressive that even if we get cold, none of us want to get inside the boat.
We enjoy the view as our boat sails through the turquoise waters of the fjord.. Waterfalls flowing down the slopes in places, cute and small settlements in places, seagulls that came with us from time to time made our journey even more enjoyable.
Aurland
Gudvangen we reached a town called Aurland.. A total of 1,200 people live here. The first municipality was established in 1970.. 13. It is a very cute settlement with a church from the 16th century.
It is said that there are 50-100 manatee weighing 100 kg in the fjord.. If you’re lucky, they said you can see it, but unfortunately we couldn’t see it.
Our boat is approaching Gudvangen and we are landing.
Gudvangen
<
Gudvangen is a settlement with only 120 inhabitants. In front of it is a stylish souvenir shop with very impressive Viking statues.. In front of this store, we get on the bus that we have already booked.. The system works very well.. “I wonder if the bus has come? Is the train late?”
Voss
We arrive at Voss after an hour-long journey on winding and pleasant roads winding through the mountains by taking the bus.. 7,000 people live in Voss. 2. It was bombed in World War II and was under siege for 70 days.. Roofs of all buildings have been destroyed, so roofing has become an important industry here.. Voss is in a deep valley. The stones coming out of the river in this valley are white and turn black over time when they come into contact with the air.. At the same time, these stones from the river were used to make toothpaste.
After a short tour in Voss, we took the train again and set off for Bergen. we are going to the train station. At the Voss train station, there are also giant statues of trolls, which are very popular throughout the country.
Then get on the train and enjoy the beautiful scenery again in Bergen. We are on our way to .
