Guzelcehisar Basalt Columns were declared as “Guzelcehisar Basalt Columns Natural Monument” by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2011.. Thus, it became Turkey’s 112th Natural Monument.. Bartın Güzelcehisar Lava Pillars impress me the first time I see the photos.. The fact that I went to the other side of the world to see the lava columns and did not see the lava columns in my own country triggers this.. I hit the road to see these cliffs thought to have formed 80 million years ago.. How did I go? What did I expect? What did I find? Let’s go to the article.

How Bartin Guzelcehisar Lava Pillars Formed?
First let’s take a look at how lava columns formed that put me on the road. When I search for information about Bartın Güzelcehisar, I find information about Bartın Lava Rocks formed by the cooling and crystallization of lava flowing from volcanoes 80 million years ago.. These Basalt Pillars rose like a wall by the sea and stretched all the way to the coast of Mugada.. Of course, I didn’t have the chance to go and see it from the sea.. Maybe another time… The Basalt Columns here are more special because they are both horizontal and vertical.. Integrating with the forest, the Basalt Columns form formations in pentagonal and hexagonal shapes.
With the cooling and crystallization of the lava flowing from the volcanoes, the quadrangular, Diameters of lava columns in the form of pentagonal and hexagonal columns are between 50 and 100 cm, and their length reaches 100 meters.
Basalt Columns, which are said to be found only in Northern Ireland, Scotland, California and Turkey in the world, Not in Iceland? Was the Basalt Columns another formation I had seen in Iceland? It is even located in Artvin from these Basalt Columns. If you know about this, please write in the comments.
Where are the Bartin Lava Pillars?
Where are the Bartin Lava Pillars? Now let’s look at that. Bartın Lava Columns are located in Güzelcehisar Village of Bartın, at the end of a long beach, by the sea.. The distance to Bartın city center is 17 km.
How to go to Bartın Güzelcehisar Lava Columns? How to Go to Güzelcehisar Beach?
If we learned where Güzelcehisar Basalt Columns are, let’s see how to get there. Directions to Bartın Lava Columns: Those who do not have a vehicle and will use public transportation can first reach Bartın, Amasra on a monthly basis, and then to Güzelcehisar village by minibus.. It is among the information that those who will go to the region by hitchhike easily reach.
The first thing I will say to those who go with their own car is that the navigation takes them correctly.. The only point to note here is that if you write Güzelcehisar in the navigation and leave it, it will take you to the Bartın Lava Columns Seyir Tepesi at the beginning of the walking path.. If you write Güzelcehisar Beach, it takes you to the parking lot on the beach. The road to Bartın Lava Columns Seyir Tepesi passes through narrow roads between the houses.. The road going down the last bend was quite steep, rough and there was a lot of sand when we went.. I got down with the car, but I spent all day worrying about how to get out.. Can we get out? Yes
We passed from Doğançay Waterfall to Akçakoca. You can find that article here. When we can’t camp in Akçakoca, we say “Let’s drive towards the Basalt Columns“. Navigation draws two roads from Akçakoca. After Zonguldak, do not choose the coastal road like us.. The other road seemed to be cheating, but we perished on the main coastal road.. You always pass through the neighborhoods. I don’t think we could get out of traffic during the day.. If there was no navigation at night, I would never have found my way in those side streets.. The road was pretty bad too.. It seems like a very short road, but it is not. I would say do not stray from the main road.
When to Visit the Güzelcehisar Lava Columns?
I would go to the Güzelcehisar Lava Columns in any season, but I think the best season for those on a sea vacation starts in May and ends at the end of October.. As you can see in the article, we had a hard time finding an open space.. (October 2020)
Bartın Lava Columns Seyir Tepesi
Early in the morning we glide down the streets of Guzelcedere. When he returns to his last house, we see a yellow sandy beach, wooden walkways behind it and the Basalt Columns far away.. There’s a tree on this hill. Behind them, houses overlooking this magnificent view. Those who come should definitely sit under that tree.
It is Sunday and people are preparing breakfast in front of their houses in the garden for breakfast.. We greet you right away. We have a dream of having breakfast against this view.. Preparations start right away, but we forgot to buy eggs.. We ask for eggs from people we greet a little ahead.. We’ll pay whatever the price is, but they don’t take it.. “How did you hear about this place?” they ask. It seems that even they are surprised that this place is starting to become a popular place.
When we turn on our music, brew our tea, make our cheese omelette and set up on the table, we start our breakfast to the heart of the view.. By the way, visitors are never missing.. We look from where we sit and linger a little because the light is reversed.. Correct time is essential for photographic light.
Basalt Columns
“Landscaping Application Project for Tourism and Recreation Purpose of Guzelcehisar Lava Columns and Beach in Bartin
Within the scope of “strong>”, within the scope of the Financial Support Program of the Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA), this wooden walking platform was built with the project of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, aiming to become one of the tourism centers on an international scale.. After it was built, it started to have many visitors.. Most visitors were foreign tourists.. The walking platform is also disabled friendly.. It has been arranged from the beginning to the end without interruption, so that disabled friends can easily go.
After getting back together, the cruise begins to descend from the Bartın Lava Columns Seyir Tepesi.. Good luck in the air. It’s October, but it’s like a hot summer day. 850 meters long and 3 meters wide this walking platform leads directly to the Güzelcehisar Lava Columns. You pass by a Black Sea beach that surprises you with its fine sand on one side, houses on the back, and places such as a parking lot.
Eye in a blink of an eye, this wooden road ends and you can see the Guzelcehisar Lava Pillars. They built a bridge stretching over the sea to the lava rocks and from there you can both take pictures and watch the Basalt Columns more comfortably.
All of the photos we see on social media He was on the beach under the Basalt Cliffs. When we go, we see that it is forbidden to cross that side. There was a sign that the rock could fall on the forbidden sign.. Before we get too close to the Basalt Cliffs, we go down to the coastline of course.. I went to the other side of the world. I even climbed basalt rocks in Iceland, but everything is forbidden in my own country, mashallah. Beautiful view from below. We go into the water and play games with the waves. We take photos and videos. The light is also reversed in the afternoon in October. I guess every hour the light turns upside down. Sunrise and sunset pass horizontally over the cliffs. That’s why I say don’t wait like us.
I said that they built a bridge over the rocks in the middle of the sea over the walking platform, there you can go down to Bartın Lava Rocks. I must say the Lava Cliffs are quite slippery. You have to be careful. Too much garbage is thrown here. In fact, the bottom of the walking platform was completely filled with garbage. It’s unbelievable really.. The most common thing I come across while traveling in my hometown is always TRAIN. How can we fight and destroy it? If he was a traitor, he would not do this to his hometown.
Bartın Lava Pillars Camping? Is the camp free?
We look around while walking on the platform.. My eyes are looking for a camping place.. Ferhat Camping, Doğa Camping, Reef Camping, Dejavu Cafe & Pension and Hisar Pension are the ones that caught my eye among the paid camping places.
If you say you don’t want to pay for the camp, there are not many campers at the back of the platform. we see a lot of people. I usually set up my tent on the beach because I’m not very affected by the heat.. I didn’t see any prohibition sign. You can’t camp anywhere you want within the scope of Covid, but we were able to camp at the time we went (October 2020). It will be possible when the measures are relaxed again.
The car park is located in the middle of the coastline. It is located in a toilet in the parking lot, but it was closed when we went.. The price was high in my opinion.. It’s a real problem that the toilet is closed in such a place.. I wonder what all those campers did that weekend? Every part of the coastline where the Güzelcehisar Lava Columns are located must have been used as a WC.. How can we turn off the WC and then be angry that people pollute the environment? They said it’s closed because it’s out of season. You can use it at other times in the surrounding businesses, but they were closed when we went.. So the season ends in October at Guzelce Village.
- . Although it is in front of the houses, but the view is magnificent. There is a small cafe in the back. It can be used there.
- This walking platform is illuminated at night.. The view is breathtaking. You have to see it at night, then.
- You can get a campervan camp at the beach in Güzelcedere Basalt Columns. There are also paid camping areas if you want.. It would be very difficult for the caravan to return to the road with the Observation Terrace.. I came back hard with the car. It’s a dead-end street anyway.. You have no choice but to go back the way you came.
Guzelcehisar Pension, Hotel
What will those who do not have camping equipment or who cannot or do not want to do? I saw many hostel signs around. There were also those with a sea view.. We didn’t have time to ask for fees. You can search online and reserve your place.. When you type Guzelcehisar pension, hotel, there are many options.
Bartın Güzelcehisar Beach, Sea Joy
<
October, but it’s as hot as summer. While I think that there is no time to go to the sea because there are other places to go, my companion Çilem says; ” I can not believe you. Are we really going to go without swimming?” Already ready to go astray from yesterday, I immediately throw myself into the sea. We have a lot of fun while setting up the tripod and shooting our videos.
The beach is fine sand. No need for any sea shoes. There was very little waves in the sea.. Can’t believe it’s the Black Sea. Is it always like this? I can experience the answers to these questions when I go again at other times, but. Since it is October, there is almost no one but us on the beach, but I am sure it is very crowded in the season.. However, I think you will definitely find a place for yourself on the 850 meter coastline.. It’s not the Aegean after all.
You can visit the castle here when you come to Güzelcehisar.. You can also go to the nearby İnkumu Beach. I have a plan to see the Bird Rock monument in Amasra.. That’s why I skipped it this time.. I hope my article gave you the information you were looking for.
