2-day Cappadocia Route

2-day Cappadocia Route

As we mentioned in our previous article, although there are many places to see in Cappadocia, it is a beautiful one. You can fit everything into a 2-day weekend by making a plan.. For this, we offer you the route we have experienced; You can use it with pleasure and top to bottom

Transportation to Cappadocia:

For this tour, we bought a round-trip flight ticket from Kayseri and rented a car from Kayseri.. After landing in Kayseri with the earliest flight on Saturday, we preferred the latest flight from Kayseri to Istanbul on Sunday.. Therefore, we made a plan to visit Cappadocia for 2 full days.. Our time has already increased. We even went to Erciyes on the way back, caught the sunset in Tuzla Lake, and spared enough time to eat the famous Kayseri ravioli in Kayseri.

Stay in Cappadocia:

First of all, without going into the details of this 2-day plan, you can reach our “detailed” article, which we have discussed specifically for accommodation in Cappadocia, by clicking here..

After scrutinizing for a long time, we chose the hotel and paid, but let’s admit that we weren’t quite sure even then.. There are so many alternatives and such beautiful places that one gets stuck on whichever one they choose.. The features we looked for in our hotel selection were that the balloons could be seen from the terrace, the room was spacious and if possible, it had a jacuzzi and/or fireplace, and it did not cost much above the average.. The closest hotel we were looking for was Cappadocia Inn located in Göreme.

The breakfast of the hotel is really rich and satisfying.. Its terrace looks directly at the Göreme open air museum, so you can easily see the balloons.. Rooms are clean, large, spacious. In fact, our room was a reverse duplex and had a very large bathroom downstairs with a huge sauna.. You can drink free tea and coffee at the restaurant throughout the day.. The location is very close to everywhere.

The features that we think are negative are very small details such as insufficient parking and no attendant after a certain hour in the restaurant.. By the way, our photos with balloons were not exactly as we imagined, as the terrace was not decorated like some other hotels on Instagram (such as Sultan Cave Suits), but let’s do it

Cappadocia Tour:

1. day: After landing at Kayseri Airport at 08:20 in the morning, we took the car we rented before and set off without wasting time.. Since we still have a few hours before the check-in time for the Cappadocia Inn hotel, we started to explore Avanos, which is the first place we will pass on the way.. It takes 1 hour from the airport to Avanos. It is a little difficult to find an open place in Avanos at 09:00 during this period.. Pushing the open door of Bizim Ev restaurant, we walked through a museum and went upstairs.. When the staff at the restaurant said that breakfast would be ready at 10:00, we turned back with our necks bent.. After walking for a while among the closed shops, we started our tour of Avanos after having our breakfast (or rather, eating our toast) in a cafe (Ulaş Cafe) that we found open on the edge of Kızılırmak.. On the way up to Bayraklı Hill, we entered a pottery shop with the word “open” on its door.. Stone Bridge, Wooden Bridge can be seen from Bayraklı Tepe, all Avanos is under your feet.. We didn’t want to walk all the way to the bazaar along the Kızılırmak (it was a bit cold and the shops were just opening), so after touring Avanos’ center by car, we went to the Güral Museum.. This is the world’s and Turkey’s first and only underground museum.. There are some amazingly beautiful products inside. You have to pay 15 TL entrance fee at the entrance of the museum.. At the exit, there is a huge display area where you can shop.

As we continue to Çavuşin, our next destination after Avanos; On the way, we took short breaks at Paşabağı, Zelve Open Air Museum and Devrent Valley, and took pictures.. We took a short coffee break in Seyyah Han, which is very popular in Çavuşin, as we were not hungry, but the food and service were superb.. After that, we saw the old mosque in Çavuşin and climbed among the rock houses to the point with the flag at the top.. The view was truly legendary.

Considering that we had enough time and tired, we decided to check in to our hotel in Göreme after that.. If you want to take an ATV tour and visit pottery workshops on the road, you will see plenty of alternatives.. We continued directly to the hotel.. After resting for a while at the hotel, we planned to visit the Göreme Open Air Museum and take a coffee break at the Lovers Hill and then set the sun in the Kızılçukur Valley, but this plan was left for the next day because we fell asleep.. Be you, set the alarm

We made our reservation at Lil’a Restaurant for our first evening. We were thinking that we would visit the Üçhisar area, where the restaurant is located, 1 hour before the reservation, when we realized that everything was dark and closed.

2. day we got up early in the morning and had a nice breakfast after watching the balloons from the terrace of the hotel.. First, we planned to stop by Kocabağ Wine House, which is 5 minutes away from the hotel, and do some wine tasting and shopping, and then visit the Üçhisar castle and Güvercinlik valley, which we couldn’t see the previous night, so we were lazy. We stopped by O Tree Alti, one of the cafes lined up, and had a cup of coffee and a view of Goreme.. Those who have time can visit Derinkuyu and Kaymaklı Underground Cities (Kaymaklı underground city has much wider walking areas compared to Derinkuyu) and Gomeda Valley.. Those who do not want to go that far can take the Özocak Underground city as an alternative to their list.. Now on the way back, after seeing Orta Hisar Castle and then the Three Beauties on the way, you can continue to the center of Ürgüp.. Ürgüp is a bit bigger than other districts.. We tasted our coffee and took a short walk.

At this point, we broke our plan and continued to Erciyes and did not see the underground cities, but you can stick to the plan

By the way, if you haven’t bought wine from Kocabağ, you should stop by Turasan.. For dinner, we ate ravioli in Kayseri, but if you are going to stay in Cappadocia, you can make a restaurant reservation at the Old Greek House, which is famous for the Asmalı Konak series.
